Actually I had two. One for posse which is volunteer and the other is full time. I got sworn in as posse member. That interview was very laxed. I didn't even have to where a suit. The interview for full time deputy however I did wear a suit and it was the traditional oral board you're thinking about. I'm still waiting for the results on that one. So I can't really give any advice other than be yourself (in a cordial manner of course) and give honest answers. Don't give them what you think they want to hear. Give honest answers about your life and how you will respond to scenarios.

Miami Fire Department is a completely different entity than the Miami Police Department. They both answer to the Mayor of Miami, but that is where their similarities end. www.miamigov.com/home/organizations.html Nick did a couple guest vlogs with them before, but that is likely the most you will get from a police officer covering a fire department. It is up to the Miami Fire Department to create their own social media program and create content that viewers want to watch. However most Fire/EMS departments do not post much because it is too big a liability with HIPPA laws -- there are lots of lawyers in Miami just waiting to sue the City for any possible violation of patient privacy laws.
Miami Police Department now that is great news. They could not get any better mentors to help them launch their own Vlogs, plus it won't hurt that you mention their newly produced videos in the upcoming Vlogs on here.

Just as an FYI, In Massachusetts (My Home State), All College/Campus police officers are what is called State Special Police Officers (SSPO for short) and most of these officers attend the State Police Academy in New Braintree,MA, or can attend a regular Full Time Police Academy under the MA Police Training Council. Of course you cant use the SSPO Academy if you wanted to become a regular full time municipal police officer lol
Nick, you should get some great personalized camera straps from OP/Tech USA. You can get the Miami PD logo on a camera strap! I opted for the utility strap with my logo on there. They’re amazing quality and I love them.

In MA believe it or not, we have several college/campus police departments that are unarmed. MA General Hospital, Suffolk University, Emerson College, as well as the Shattuck Hospital are all unarmed.
I’m taking my steps to be a police officer I’m 11 and I’m going to go to the high school and then go to the academy then I will be a nice polo that will protect people that can’t protect themselves

Im a juvenile detention officer in the great city of San Antonio. I wanted to see if you could do some type of vlog on the intake side of things. Now i know you wouldn’t be able to do it with juveniles due to the laws behind revealing youths identity. But would be cool to see how the intake process is there in Miami even for the adult side.

Many years ago you could just goto the Miami PD Central Station and signup for a ride along. Due to current liability issues, fewer & fewer police departments are offering ride alongs. That is why Vlogs like these that show what real patrols a like are so useful, but nothing will every replace the experience of being in a patrol car with all the radio traffic go on in the background and the officer is driving from incident to incident. Then the very long periods of nothing happening - just driving and patrolling the neighborhoods. And don't forget the TONS of reports that they have to file - all electronically now, but still some hand written reports if the computer system is not working correctly.

Depends on policy. I know here in PA most of the k9's are purchased, trained, etc on private donations from the public. Ben Roethlisberger has a foundation that annually donates to our local k9 units.

9 months from completed my 4 year contract with Active duty army , i plan on trying me best to become a Miami Police officer ! Back to my home town
