Human resources is the department that exists to protect the company and use the human resources.
Used to be executives were more involved int he hiring processes but after the Social Democrats of Germany and the International Socialists of the USSR made Human Resource departments people learned they can make a soul-less department who's sole job is to try all the stupid ideas and get all the flak instead of the executives.
Great guy. Wish HR wasn’t the human exploitation division
HR: “It’s easier to fill a higher salary role, keep him moving boxes and get an outside hire.”
I call 'em the Liability Management department, because that's what they are viewed as from up top. "Human Resources" is just how they want to appear from below.
Well, when the average HR person is an angry Karen in her 40s, thrice divorced, and bitter her kids won’t talk to her…yeaaah
That’s what woman do best
how else could the rich buy their next yacht if they don't delegate their exploitation of us
I was waiting for a twist.
Like HR somehow screwing him over and he lose both jobs.
Double his salary it's probably still half what all the other guys are earning.
Hope thats real. Very few people out there who genuinely try help others to get better opportunities in life. Most ppl these days grow selfish.
I would be that type of guy maybe
It's probably fake though, everything is so perfect when we all know how companies treat warehouse workers
Something like this happened in my organization.
His resume was actually very impressive minus his work gap. But he wanted to work for our organization, it’s just that there wasn’t an opening for the position he was most suited for.
But he still wanted to work for the organization and he decided to apply for a lower paying job, a custodian.
3 years later, an opening in the office happened because someone was let go.
He applied for it and managed to explain stuff about the organization and the position he’s gonna fill.
He’s now my second in command. I think he’s qualified for a director position but he refused to take the one that opened last year :/
I’ve worked a place where the head of QA was this kind of leader. Amazing guy.
HR is always the bad guy in every story. 🤣
Accurate
Its literally called human _resources_
You are a resource to them. Of course they are the bad guy in every story.
That's because HR is fucking useless.
they weren't in this one, apparently didn't give any resistance ☺️
Well yeah, HR's job is to protect the company from employees.
I'm almost 100% certain there was an unincluded bait and switch where the guy getting his pay doubled is still WAY underpaid compared to his peers
yeah that's what it sounds like
basically, "I know HR likes underpaying people who transfer up but they let slip his new pay will be double his current pay"
sounds like they're still underpaying him but it's high enough that the guy decided it was good enough
Being underpaid for the position is fine. His experience is technically in a different country, who knows how strict the requirements are, but normally those kind of positions have pay-caps, and if the salary he's now going to get is going to be under that cap, if he performs well, it's very easy for managers to advocate for a higher pay raise at performance reviews at EoY. He'll still be below cap, but will get raised eventually to where his peers are with good performance, so in total, multiple wins possible.
I doubt it.
The attitude for someone in that position speaks on behalf of the company culture.
There's a lot of poison in the minds of people from bad experiences, and picking out non-toxic workplaces is usually akin to noticeable compensation for hard work.
@@brianpasha3040 Still wildly discriminative and exploitative against someone who is literally described as "SUPER qualified diamond in the rough with years of experience".
@@brianpasha3040exactly, also, It's better this way for the employee. Especially if they aren't good with finances. When someone gets a large pay rase, they commonly begin to live outside their means. This usually tapers off after the employee starts budgeting for their new position, but it is helpful to slowly bring them up to their new wage to keep them from overspending by accident.
My first manager told me when I want a promotion to get that promotion in a different company or leave and come back 2 years later. That is the secret for HR to give a market rate pay increase.
Internal Promotion
Tier 1 $50,000 -> Tier 2 $60,000 (Max 20% Raise if HR really really likes you)
Tier 2 $60,000 -> Tier 3 $72,000
External Promotion
Tier 1 $50,000 -> Tier 2 $70,000
Tier 2 $70,000 -> Tier 3 $90,000
Some people go further and move to a different company every 2 years even in the same tier to get a 10%~ pay raise.
They then get an immediate no from me when reviewing their resume 🤷
I prefer instead to fight internally for better raises
@mechanicalmonk2020 - Unfortunately you are the vast minority. Most hiring managers let HR decide and HR usually has set limits for raises internally.
yeah in IT and in general engineering, it's super common to stay for 2-3 years and move for a 20% increase.
Wish my bosses were like this. They gave me a promotion which doubled my responsibilities and acted like they were being so generous by giving me a 5% raise with the promotion.
I was waiting for the plot twist or he had lied on his resume or died in a car crash or something. This was genuinely wholesome and I really needed this thank you.
Fake: Anon is employed
Gay: Anon gives man a happy ending
That was creative, excellent use of the meme!
This had all the hallmarks of a story having a nightmare twist ending, but I'm glad it didn't.
I was at the esge of my seat the last dozen seconds
5 years later
>guy now outranks me
>he fires me
Cynical.
This is a 4chan greentext video. Of course we're cynical.
@@MerlynMusicman You're right. I have to agree 🤣
You forgot to mention the part where he replaces him with an unqualified member of his own family
> hires 50 others of his kind
"I pulled some strings so you got a fair offer on this"
"What do I owe you? Holy shit!"
"... A high five next time we meet. You're welcome."
HR is crazy exploitative when "I pulled some strings so you got a FAIR offer" is seen as a major ask
"he's quite for a moment"
"he didn't even hesitate"
Probably real, because a fake story wouldn't repeat itself over & over for the half minute.
Having ridden a few companies into the waves, external hiring is usually bad. Ignoring internal qualified hires are ALWAYS bad. And stupid pamphlet logic is usually the only reason why they'd go for outside hiring when someone internal can do it. We've got an important person in this company who started out in the warehouse. He's always got ducks in a row so we don't have to fix his stuff. It's nice.
Scrooge after being visited by the spirits: you have given me no choice but to...
DOUBLE YOUR SALARY!!
I was waiting for a plot twists like "actually HR fired him" or "the guy died in a car accident" or something, cause it's a greentext.
But this is an actual good greentext.
HR exists only to further HR.
‘i doubled someones salary’
how to claim the win for somebody else while they undo the ignorant f-up made by the company you both work for.
And here I was expecting the ending to be bad, and that HR reneged on their salary offer.
As predicted guy goes to bar to celebrate, gets drunk, drives home, car accident RIP guy
You got it wrong. Guy gets drunk, drunk calls anon, and anon drives him back to his place. Straightest thing happens after.
@@kuratse205
>Be me
>straight...
>*the most unhinged g@y stuff known to man*
Just wait till you find out their old position paid a quarter of what the new position normally pays and HR got away with low balling them anyway.
graduated in 2020 with a Certificate in Mechanical and Architectural Drafting. Literally all I want is to work with CAD, would legit be ecstatic to do packaging design or something. Cannot get a callback from any of the companies I apply to, even if I apply for bottom of the rung jobs that don't require prior experience with the expectation to work my way up. Current job market is shit, good for this guy
heard a similar story before. Cept the guy celebrated way to early and too hard....ended up in the hospital
I was just waiting and waiting for the ironic turnaround at the end…that never came!
After how much it went on and on, I was sure this was going to end with the guy coming in the next day drunk and/or high from "celebrating" and getting fired. I've heard a few stories like that. I think in one case, there was a mandatory drug screening and the guy failed.
It happens a lot with foreign workers who are willing to take an entry level low skill job to make ends meet when they first enter the country but actually are extremely highly qualified in something else entirely.
I was waiting for the show to drop, fucking hell
The guy earned 250/m and now it's 500/m
For the first time Anon is being a chad
Wholesome greentext is the best greentext
One of the best feelings in life is helping to reward someone who truly deserves it 🙏🏻
His face when the guy starts and it's painfully noticeable that all those things in his resume were fake or overly exaggerated: 💀
It's giving "orphan crushing machine". Why are your warehouse workers so underpaid???
Analysts come from all walks of life, and "qualified" ones are routinely the worst. It's often easier to up-skill someone who has the right mindset, than it is to try and get a qualified analyst to actually be any good.
same for pentesting, they usually hire from people with social skills and make them learn coding rather than the other way around.
Update: I just doubled someone's salary and then HR screwed him.
4chan greentext and wholesome? This has to be fiction
Meanwhile, the average company (hires outside the workplace, doesn't consider employee qualifications, and sure as heck will not do any substantial raises.)
Mwomp.
Assuming this is a real greentext tho, sounds like a decent company for a change
Not a decent company, a decent person. HR tried to fight it. The problem is almost always HR and middle management, usually due to the Peter Principle.
You heard him stay quiet for a moment because he was processing and then respond without hesitating… is the moment of silence spent processing not counted as hesitation?
Fake: Anon helps a co-worker to step up in company
Gay: Anon brought his crush to work with him
Quiet for a moment but didn't hesitate for a second... riiiiight.
Wait... Did they not even interview him before making the decision? Just based off resume? Is this how company hirings work?
It's the "soft" confirmation that is messing with me. I don't think HR will actually let this happen.
Sounds like Amazon
This literally feels like what happened with me, except A: im not an immigrant and B: dont know if i got hired yet
No tragic twist means this one is probally real
fake: anon has a job
gay: anon is fantasizing about a buff warehouse man partying
or
real: HR are generally dicks
straight: the warehouse man has a family
perhaps the real answer is somewhere in between, but I too feel like it's probably real.
And then they kissed
Didn't even interview him?
Okay the core anecdote was good but the telling was about 50% too long -- it seemed to be setting up for a twist but instead just stated the same sort of things in various ways ("this was good and I feel good for being able to facilitate this transition to a better life"). I felt very weird listening to the last 1/3 of the tale.

And all the guy had to do was make up jobs in durkha durkha stan that the company won't bother trying to confirm.
He will do great.
That was my thought.
Bro is not a wagie anymore
anon, the poor warehouse worker, wrote this while crying after asking HR to move departments and being denied
Never happened. Companies dont do internal promotions anynore
Yours doesn’t
you've probably "never happened" to be smart?
Colgate does still
They do?
Mine does. And because it’s a private company. The owner does whatever he wants
>he's quiet for a second
... Literally 3 lines later
>He didn't even hesitate for a second
Bro, if you are going to write fan fics, at least wait 5 lines before you contradict yourself.
How does being quiet indicates hesitating? He might be processing what just happened or was speechless.
Bro if you are going to type learn meaning of the words.
Was waiting for the turn over, sadly nothing
