In some weeks i gonna buy my 3. guitar aswell and it gonna be a Yamaha-GL1 Guitarlele. This sound comes so close to the old music that was played on a harp 🥰 Dracapalley was my inspiration aswell to learn Keith Hinchliffes doctor john stafford arrangement and to buy the GL-1 soon. Greetings from Germany, chris. Let us keep Carolan's being and old magical tunes alive 🙏
Of the countless videos on YT, there are far fewer that show such understanding of the inherent synergy between an instrument and a song. Yours is way up that list. Thanks for this outstanding arrangement!
I LOVE this! can't stop listening to it, I love your harmony with your instrument, it makes magic and I'm spellbound. ( I play O'carolans music on my Flute)
Hi twfian - wonderfully done. I'm not nearly as good a player as you and I've been working on Keefchap's version for about 2 years now - almost got it - but your version helped me through some parts that have been holding me back (after the 12/8 where it goes back to 3/4). I probably love this piece better than any other - thanks for posting. Dennis
@cathalwhelehan . Hi, thanks very much for your kind words. I think i used some d'addario nylon strings - normal tension. I've not had any problems with the tuning so not quite sure what's going on there. If It carries on I guess it may be a problem with the tuning pegs. Will try and record something soon.
Beautifully played! I have enjoyed your playing of this many times and Keith Chappell's many times as well. You get a LOT out of that small package. Is the arrangement available somewhere - either in notation or tab?
Truly virtuoso playing - so effortless! This and Dracapally's 'Carolan's Receipt' inspired me to get a GL1. Very happy with it so far but it's difficult to keep it tuned. I've set it DGDGAD to learn this but the 4th string breaks repeatedly (I use D'Addario EJ45s) - it only lasts about 2 days each time due to constant need to tune upwards. Any similar experience of this? Could do with a tip on the best strings to use - something for harder tension, perhaps? Thanks for a top top clip. More! More!
@LAPUbutsekikMAG Thanks! I was inspired by Keith Chappell (Keefchap). If you look him up on youtube there should be a link to the tab. It's really fun to play
This is beautiful.. I'm totally sold on the GL-1 now.. I was going to buy a baritone uke, but you can play this like a guitar! Did you need to put standard guitar strings on it? Or did you just tune the uke strings? I'm learning this tune too.. Thanks! Sx
Good sound, played with delicassy and feeling. I 'm thinking about get ting one guitalele too. After Dracapalley and you; the challenge is good! What is the tuning you use for this piece?
That was lovely. I play this on the harp, but it sounds equally nice on the guitarlele :) You have given me a great present idea as to what to get for my boyfriend for the holiday. He was already interested in getting a parlor guitar. Do you know if the guitarlele is a similar size as a parlor guitar or is it smaller?
wonderful performance Ian !!! That's right, the Guitalele is a small exciting musical instrument that I also use but my guitalele mark "Stagg" is a horror that does not fit the tuning. Certainly a problem of frets. A question: Could you tell me where to get the score of this beautiful music? I hope you put a lot of other music on your youtube channel. Musically Phil

Thanks very much - they're fun to play. The tuning is DGDGAD. It's arranged by Keefchap who very kindly has made the tab available to download.
