This dude's honestly pretty fun if you force him to cooperate. The best way I've found is to always try to dodge to his non-dominant side (his left, your right), as he does the double ground slam attack after quite a few of his combos if you're on that side. This is the best moment to attack him (you can get a fully charged heavy attack if you start it right after dodging), and if you do this, you'll more often than not stay close enough to him so he chooses to do another combo instead of running away. ALWAYS be close to him. The fire attack is easily solved by jumping. You can watch the grey blobs to see which one he's doing; if it starts close to him, jump forward, and if it starts away from him, jump backward using the ring of fire in your line of sight as a guide. It's kinda pointless to attack him without him attacking first, so it ends up being pretty rhythmic if you do it right!
Idk how I felt about this fight first time I beat it, but I think I can say now it’s def one of the dlc’s best. The delayed attacks, long combos , and hefty damage are thankfully balanced by the boss not having as much health as others. And all of his attacks can be reliably dodged so it doesn’t feel like I’m taking hits that aren’t my fault. Like the attacks where he dismounts his horse and both of them start attacking you in a string, as well as the attacks where you’re required to jump over the blue ghostflame are a lot of fun to get down right. Also the visual design of the boss itself and the MUSIC man it’s wonderful. It really does feel like a somber fight of tragedy.
So is this like a reference to the origin of the Elden Beast (given the way this boss head tilts and how he swims through the water)? I recall reading or hearing somewhere that the Elden Beast is a construct of fallen runes. It seems similar to this guy, whom is actually a large clump of dead bodies that make up his existence. It drank nectar from Saint Trina putting it to rest, that way, Saint Trina can control it making it her knight. So really, it's just embodying her will, not really doing anything out of its own. I think that is similar to the Elden Beast, just being a vessel/knight for The Greater Will. I also noticed that anything in Elden Ring that is water related is a gateway to the dead. So that could further support the idea that both the Elden Beast and Putrescent Knight are both dead resurrections. I also noticed that the weapons they carry embody the order they serve. The Greater Will/Marika stood for duality, thus way the Elden Beast wields a double helix sword. The Putrescent Knight wields a moon crescent blade, which I believe the moon has a lot to do with sleep/rest (which is saint Trina's specialty). Perhaps if Saint Trina was still functional, The Putrescent Knight would have become her version of the Elden Beast? The area is surrounded by Lily flowers, which was Saint Trina's main medium of contact. Just like the Elden Beast area is surrounded by Erd Trees, which was the Greater Will's/Marika's main point of contact. Also, given what was mentioned about water and death, we saw how Godwyn adapted by growing fish legs when he was sentence to a life in death. We know that can only happen when a being is a body without a soul, and we see two other examples of beings composed of only a body and no soul (Elden Beast and Putrescent Knight being amalgamation of the fallen). Its also placed very early so you'll likely only have 1-4 scadutree levels when you find her, when the dlc is sorta balanced around you having at least 7-10 of them
I laughed so hard at 6:05 when after *hours* of fighting the boss, we end up taking a little gulp of the sus juice this lady offers and our charechter goes 🥱😴 💀
this boss would've felt so much better if he used sleep instead of frostbite, like bro is literally st Trina's goon, use any sleep man instead of leaving that stat so underused in game. Other than that, fantastic boss!
FromSoftware screwed up for not making this boss weapon's usable variant a boomerang charge attack.
The way to him is so obnoxious, very long fall and then he spawns on the other end of the giant room.
This knight fought harder than most of the bosses.
Everybody saying Orphan of Khos...I see Radahn on Ozempic 😂
Really fun boss, his move set was tricky but fun to master, his create axe has a lot of reach tho and the fire is tricky to time the jump.
The reason I had to google this fight was because I 2 shot the boss and didn't experience his attacks😭 I saw a message before the arena saying skeleton ahead therefore try holy. So I whipped out golden epitaph with sacred relic sword all the buffs and holy crystal tear.
Orphan of Kos, how many times do we gotta babysit you, dude!? We get it! Your mom died! That's tragic n shi, but c'mon! 😭
My theory is that this is Leonard.
I swear, the cooler the boss is, the less cinematics they get.
Was really pissed off fighting this guy but now that ive beat him i quite like him and find the fight pretty fun
Ancient dragon Lightning strike ANNIHILATES this thing. Literally
Holy does too
One of my favorite bosses in all of Elden Ring. Faught him at 2 scadutree level and he whooped me for 45 min.
If Radahn's horse could run at March 10 speed and employ hit and run strategy, you get this thing. Most frustrating boss for me so far.
he looks like a boss from Bloodborne
The loathsome dung eater vs The orphan from Temu
Sacred blade CHUNKS this dude.
this boss was easy, tho the damage he deals is crazy(im in ng+2). Its just a dance between dodging. Probably my favorite so far in the DLC. Really cool.
The Orphan of Midir
THEY GAVE OOK A HORSE
THEY GAVE HIM A HORSE
1:58... Hm that is so weird
This guy is beating my ass. I’m having more trouble with him than Rellana.
Not only Berserk , looks like From has a Soft spot for One Piece too.
Fighting this boss with the Guts sword was such a headache, ill fight him again when im scadutree level 15 at least 😂
The Orphan of Ludwig looking ahhh 😂😂😂
Orphan of Ludwig and Kos
Devs once again refusing to allow Torrent in fights that would perfectly fit Torrent
People saying orphan of kos, am i the only Ole who gets skull knight vibes?
I was lucky that the boss got stuck behind the fog wall and just hit him with dragonwound slash until i won.
I had been stuck on this boss for an hour. 😅
Finally someone who killed it without summons and magic. I was checking like 10 videos and everyone is either lvl 700 or use mimic lmao. GJ man
