I am 1st year teacher. My students will arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 am. Class starts at 8:30, so I'm very curious what to do with them in the meantime as they trickle in sporadically? Would you recommend letting them having access to their centers or keep that off limits until later in the day?
Oh, these are a mixed group of 3s and 4s during this one hour time slot. My class is basically a gathering area until other teachers get there, then most the students will disperse to other classes. So name hooks won't really work for their stuff 🤔
Vanessa, these ideas are great! I have allowed my students to play with table toys from the math shelves/center, however, these are the same toys students might play with during centers. Do you separate the morning fine-motor tubs from materials students play with in centers? I would assume so because kids get bored easily! Thanks.
Not really, they see them as different because they are used differently. If you do fine motor activities using my fine motor bundles that's a great way to keep things fresh while practicing important fine motor skills during table time.
If you're referring to the colorful trays I used for the displaying the different activities, I found them at Target a few years ago. They were in the Bullseye Playground during back-to-school, but I haven't seen them there since. You can find similar trays on Amazon or at Michael's, search for "art tray."
This is helpful! Thank you for the ideas!

Centers would be good. Here's the link to the morning tubs I mention in this episode: www.pre-kpages.com/morning-work-boxes-preschool/
