Beautiful table. So much nicer than the typical “picnic benches” we build in the states. Gives me inspiration to rebuild mine. Oh and it took me rewatching that section 5 times to figure out you were drilling and doweling the nail holes, lol. TY.
Hopefully you watched it at double speed, that was my first video and it's a little too long. However it's still my wifes favourite table for her greenhouse so it's in good use! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful work! I lived in Lexington Kentucky (horse capital of the world) for 4 years, and this burning method is used on most fence posts and rails. It helps protect it from the humidity and bugs as well. As always, thanks for sharing!
Hello Jesper, It is a very nice design. The effect of wax and polish is great. A great table for outdoor. You have created a decorative and stylish garden table. Keep doing great work from pallets. Congratulations. See you. Stay healthy and happy. Big greetings. Mehmet.
Hola! 🖐I have only watched a couple of your videos and I'm a "newer" subscriber. I really enjoy going back and watching the catalog of videos when I subscribe to another channel. This is a REALLY NICE TABLE, and this being your first video you posted, BRAVO 👏GREAT job! Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
@@JesperMakes what was your ratio of beeswax / linseed oil / mineral spirits please? That is a truly fantastic finish and I'm trying to recreate it... It looked quite runny in the jar, I would have thought the beeswax would have made it a lot thicker once it cooled?
Absolutely love the burnt look! I just found your channel today and am binge watching! What type of torch is that? Very amazing imagination and thought process! Thank you for the great work!
Thanks Chris, you're too kind, this was my first video and almost first wood project ever, it's toooo long but the table is still standing one year later, phew ;-)
Hola!
Hi Jasper - I wanted to buy that metal polishing thing - do you have a name of this kind of thing? How to look for that - to harden the burned surface.
If you go to the angle grinder disc section of any tool store, you'll find some discs that are meant to fine-polish metal. They have a cotton-like surface.
Nice work! Dainer Designs sent me here and I've since subbed. You sound very Aussie sometimes with your terminology/slang. Have you spent much time Down Under?
Do you heat the wax-linseed-spirits mixture before applying? Made the same thing with the same ratio's, but it's very much a solid at room temperature. It's a really soft wax essentially, which works. Yet I'd like to be able to pour it out of a container rather than scraping it. Which brings my back to the original question; is your mixture liquid/runny at room temperature or is that mixture (still) hot.
Curiosity got the better of me; I'd wager adding mineral spirit makes it more liquid as it's a solvent, no? Anyhow, melting the wax and putting equal amounts in different jars with increasing amounts of mineral spirit. Wax won't know what hit them
The Biltema planer, do you find it worth a purchase? I'm lacking both a table saw and a planer, but i noticed that Biltema's selling it "cheap?" compared to some other retailers. Or is it too limited in regards to the dimensions it can handle at max?
I bought it used for about half the price at Biltema. I have been very happy for it. It's very good for handling pallet wood etc, but it's one of the smallest lunchbox planers around. A good starting point.
I love this table, you did a fantastic job, love the finish. The table turned out Beautiful. I read a comment you made to someone else about the finish you used that its a homemade finish of Bees wax linseed oil and mineral spirits but you didn't say what the ratio is. If this isn't a secret recipe of yours can you give me the ratio on the ingredients? If its a trade secret recipe I understand but if not I would love to know... Enjoy watching the video and love what you made...
Oh thank you! I have another video where I go into more depth with the finish and the ratios I have used. It's called "bees wax wood finish" or something like that!
@@JesperMakes Thanks mate. Just got one ordered in our local online shop for tools. I got almost 15 meters long sugi ban bar counter to to make for my restopub.... That will come handy for sure.
WOW, you biscuit (sort of) the edge joints, but you use dowels for nail holes. Missed a chance there. I would have doweled the edge joints and just filled the nail holes. I love your work, but you should try some real joinery in places for super strength. You will be glad you did. To me, the joinery is how a carpenter thanks the wood for giving itself. A nail should only be used to hold the join while the glue dries, not be part of the structural strength.
Thanks for the tips! This was my very first try building anything, and I would it all much differently now 2 years later. But the table is still standing in our greenhouse, and is one of my wifes favourite outdoor tables.

Mostly drilling out nail holes.

Bees wax linseed and what was the 3rd item? Nice build by the way
Just some kind of thinner. Thanks, the table is still going strong 2 years later.
Mineral Spirits

Thanks! 👌
Did you use specific ratio of linseed oil, beeswax and mineral spirits?
Yes,1 bees wax to 2 linseed and 2 thinner
@@JesperMakes thanks! That makes it super easy.
nice finishing! can I get that polish from the market?
No, sorry, it's homemade.
Why were the dowels used?
I think it was to get rid of some nail holes
I tried the mixture and it hardens after a while, is it normal?
By the way I used boiled linseed coz that's what is available in my area . Is it ok?
I haven't applied the mixture yet and it became hard like the beeswax state. It became solid, supposedly liquid
Ok, somebody said the ratio is 1:1:1. Next time I'll try 1:2:2. Thanks for this info.
I’m really curious did you try it out?
@@JesperMakes nope, not yet. I'll try soon on a scrap wood.

I didn’t know that you can grow vinegrapes in Denmark.
We can. The right spicies grows just fine here, and we have gotten a lot of vineyards over the last 20 years.
Was mischst du zu dem Bienenwachs dazu?
Linseed oil + thinner.
Hauptsache er kippt nicht um mit dem 3l Rotweinkanister am Rand. 🍷🍷🍷👍👍
I guess approved then 😜

What was the FINISH? Bee's wax and what two liquids?
Linseed oil and and some thinner - I used mineral spirits for thinner (makes the bees wax penetrate the wood). Let me know how it works out for you.
Stunning. Going to have to make one myself.... Just not as good
You can make it better mate, go for it...
