Oldest Latino Rights Group on Harris Endorsement Amid TX Voter Fraud Raids | Amanpour and Company

  • The country's most prominent Latino civil rights organization has made an unprecedented move in choosing to endorse the Harris-Walz ticket for the White House. It is LULAC's first official endorsement in nearly 100 years. Immigration is an issue that lies at the heart of this election -- from mass deportations to misinformation and bigotry -- and LULAC is warning against a second Trump term. Juan Proaño is the head of that organization, and he joins Michel Martin to explain what motivated the decision.

What horrified me most about Trump’s actions to lower immigration was his traumatizing children, some of whom have never been reunited with their families, by forcefully separating them from their mothers, fathers, sisters, grandparents, many after suffering a harrowing journey they thought would end when they reached the United States. I live in Mexico now and urge all Latino American citizens to vote for someone who really believes in diversity and values diversity and the contributions of Latino citizens. Vote Harris. Do not trust Trump.

It definitely was a 2018 Trump plan. It was conceived by Stephan Miller, executed by Jeff Sessions. It separated around 3,000 children and put them into the family services system. Many have not been reunited because the paperwork was lacking and the children too young to be identified. They were children of illegal entries.
Miller and Sessions actually originally wanted to do this to all families, including families who had arrived legally, either by ship or plane, and asked for asylum (which is not illegal to do) This plan was passed by a republican committee. The only reason it did not happen was because the DHS argued that it could not in any way process the huge numbers of children involved. It is estimated that it would have effected around 25,000 children.
The monster, Stephen Miller still works for Trump.
And if you think this is moral and good, in any way, you are also a monster. You don't get to choose the place, or circumstances of your birth. To rip families apart like that is unconscionable..

The thing about the Latino demographic label is that it applies to two different broad groups: those whose families have arrived within 2-3 generations, and those whose families were in the United States before the United States existed. For the latter set Latino-American is no more descriptive than Irish- or German-American. That's a hard demographic to poll.

As a 75 year old born and raised in California, that by "nature are conservative" is a crock. THAT IS an undereducated mentality. When Latin-heritage people ascend in education and status instead of clinging to old traditional ways they become more moderately liberal. LATIN AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT A MONOLITH AT ALL. My Dad who came to this Nation from Nicaragua in 1931 was "by nature" an intellectual and couldn't wait to take on the values of the immigrant of the 1930s. That meant advancing and achieving and not necessarily clinging to old ways.

Two planes flew into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and destroyed them, killing thousands of Americans including over 300 Fire Fighters. A 3rd plane was headed for the Pentagon but was diverted by heroes on board to crash into a field.
I am guessing you are from a foreign country so I gave you the truth as I experienced it as an American (working in New Jersey at the time and seeing the buildings across the Hudson River on fire before they fell straight down, pancaking. Had they toppled over sideways MANY other buildings would have been destroyed in nearby blocks as the Twin Towers were over 100 stories high.)
