We should remember all of them from ww1 and ww11, my gran said one of her brothers had a horse shot from underneath him in ww1, both wars we learnt at school, everyone called ww1 the great war, all wars are horrible but there was alot of men in those wars who lost their lives
Hi Phil I found the life and times of Robert Edwin Phillips very interesting I can see why they objected to the renaming of the street at least they came up with a compromise and when you said Robert moved to Lostwithiel that rang a bell with me I worked at the Signal box there as a Railway contractor all the best Paul
Who was the idiot who named the street using his middle name? I assume it was someone at the builders, though when they submitted it to the council for approval someone should've spotted the error.
There is also Thomas Barratt from Tipton. I had the honour of holding his VC once back in the very early 80's because I knew one of his relatives. He was killed in action so his parents went to collect the medal from King George V. After the ceremony before going home they called into a pawn shop to get a valuation. They were offered half a crown. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Barratt_(VC)

Totally agree, many thanks
There's a very good reason most of the residents objected...

What a shame. Bungling is the right, polite word to use, however the council did try to make amends. 😊
No other word for it, many thanks

You'd have thought so, but sadly the error was down to the Council and they certainly bungled it. Many thanks
