At the time of this concert we really thought it was going to be the last time we’d ever hear this song…and all the other a-ha songs we love so much…performed live. The song is an emotional one at its core in any case…but the emotion levels were ramped up to hitherto unsurpassed heights when we heard Morten sing it in December 2010. As it actually happened, it was only 18 months until they performed it live again in 2012 at the memorial concert for the 77 victims of the Anders Brevik terrorist attack…such a sorrowful and heartfelt tribute. They then performed it again live in 2015 as part of their 5-part set list at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, the same year they reformed to appear at Rock In Rio and to release their 10th studio album Cast In Steel. It feels like we fans who love these guys and their music so much, got a reprieve and everything since December 2010 has been a bonus!
True North album by a ha is the music gift our world in this moment. Big hug from a ha all the people on earth. Album of the year and music masterpieces.
What a wonderful vocal performance from Morten (51 years old)! 🥰 It is on the order of the exceptional! Amazing to think that this was basically the last time A-HA fans could appreciate the extraordinary talents of all A-HA members performing together live... 😊🎶🎼
I've heard this song countless times, in countless variations, but it still touches me so much every time, like I'm hearing it for the first time. ❤ Morten's voice was incredibly good and emotionally charged at the farewell concert. I hope you keep Morten's solo projects on your list, he has released 2 more albums after Letter from Egypt. "Out of My Hands" came out in 2012 and "Brother" in 2014, followed by Morten Harket concerts. Both albums contain beautiful songs, especially "Brother" from the album of the same name is one of my favorite songs.
Yes, this song gets me every time to. It's just so beautiful, isn't it? I like Brother a lot too. I am not exactly sure what it is about though, but I like it. Would love for you or Unhandy to explain, if you'd like, but also don't want to ruin anything for Matt. Of course, at this point, he might have already heard it.
@@UnhandyCandy280 Love the song, but no clue what it's about. If you wouldn't mind telling me, that would be cool. Maybe not a good idea cause it could ruin it for Matt? Although I am behind and he might have heard it already. 🙃
@@shelld1261 The song Brother is basically a hippie love in. No, it's not of course... well... kinda. My take is that we are all one people with wide differences and great similarities. You are also unique within that oneness. We've (as a species) done terrible things to each other. We've stolen treasures and ran each other out of town for as many reasons as you can think of, over thousands of years. We should all be more brotherly admit mistakes, listen to the other side of the story. Differences are going to happen and even expected but just don't force anything and we'll get along just fine. It doesn't have to be like it's always been. IMHO.
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening Matt and the A-HA family of this channel. I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. Stay on these roads is a joy at any concert. At my first A-HA concert I always remember Magne saying look after Scotland while we’re away this is stay on these roads and that was back in 1988. Always a classic and this one is my fave performance. Take care and I’ll catch you on the next one. 😘❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER ❤️🇳🇴❤️ 🎸🎹🎤🥇 🇺🇸🏴
This track fills me with joy, soaring almost operatic. When I am climbing that mountain of life, this one inspires me to keep going. I love this version and all versions of this song.
Yeah synths are a new arrangement. Great to hear Pal's guitar back again. For a long time this was stripped back to be more acoustic. There was a really cool reworked version for the Analogue tour.
Hey there! So I actually reacted to that version two months ago: th-cam.com/video/pgbZz-JbL4s/w-d-xo.html And it is indeed a beautiful, peak-performance version of that masterpiece! (side note, my reaction to the "Manhattan Skyline" from Ending on a High Note is coming this morning). Cheers!
@@ivicatunukovic4509 Oh no worries at all! I appreciate the comment, and you're right, it's such an amazing performance. Indeed, the whole NRK recording is unbelievable quality. a-ha at the absolute top of their game!
Always special to hear Morten sing this live. We were always expecting the final "Stay oooon" that gave us goosebumps. 😊 Even if his voice was not the same as in the 80s, it was still outstanding and he did an incredible performance. Your camera was not showing Lucca this time. 😕 But I guess she wasn't there at all. 😁
@@mattsnider2667 oh, don't bother her if she is sleeping or playing somewhere else. 😉 I was only referring to the angle of your camera, sometimes it is aiming a bit lower and we can see the seat of Lucca's chair. As it didn't show this time, I was wondering if she was there or not (and it seems I was right, she wasn't). 😁 Looking forward to her next appearance, of course, but if she is busy somewhere else I will wait for when it is appropriate for her to appear. 😅
