Thanks for the review! I'm in the process of upgrading my dry fly short to medium distance trout outfit and this line is on the short list. I have been watching your videos for a while and trust your judgment way more than most. Again, thanks!
Hey Peter Thank you very much for the answer,i yust never tried the low strech line, but i think i will manage it.Because i was in dilema betwen S/A Trout smooth and the new Rio Tehnical Trout. This time I give a chance to Rio,(maybe your video helped),because in the past I used the Rio Gold-and it is a very good line-but not the best for longer casts.. Stay safe Kind regards Vanč
just bought it and got it on my reel :) have`nt tested it out yet :) but your review certainly inspires me to jump out and do it thx for a really informative video best regards from Denmark
Hi @@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing now after 2 weeks of intensive testing I found it a dream to use, the smoothness is second to none its a dream to cast :) 2 blindcast and its out :) you are the reason I bought it thx again tight lines ;)
I'm going to get a #6 to use on my #7 Demon for a more delicate approach for summer dry fly on Stillwaters. I think I should still get a decent cast on my #7 rod.
Great video. Does the line load well within 30 feet or does it require a lot of line ‘out’? I fish the Test and other chalk streams as don’t need a line to cast 60ft! Thanks
Hi Mark, I am testing this line on the River Anton, and I find it loads under short line as well. Check 4.5 minutes on the video where I do the short line test….
Line looks great. I can hear the smoothness through the rings. I'd be interested to see how it performs after some heavy use. Incidentally..... how are you attaching your net on your back?
I have to say it is noticeably smooth and I too am eager to see its durability. For the net I am using the Fishpond Switchback which has a slot in the belt for my net... so convenient and comfortable...
Hello Peter Question...what do you think, would this line be ok for Hardy Zenith 8,6" 5wt. Thank you for the answer in advance. Stay healthy and kind regards from Slovenia Vanč
Hi, have you tried the DT versions of this line? I have been using DT for 30+ years and the rods I currently use are all a bit slower action with deeper flex. I just talked to the rod designer and he indicated that he prefers DT lines in this rod (4wt primarily for dry fly fishing), so I don't want to go to a WF line and lose some of the qualities that he designed into the rod.
Hi thanks for great Review question about 6 weight line.have you tried it yet?I have 9 foot 6 G.Loomis Asquith would it suit it in your opinion?thinking about getting one thanks mark
Glad it was helpful, I am afraid can’t compare to the Sci Anglers AST as I have not used one. The Perception has a shorter head that loads faster and is better for close in river work where longer casts are not needed...
Hi Peter. . Just used this line for the first time yesterday, and everything you say about the slick coating and core is spot on, I’ve matched the line with a #4 weight Orvis Helios mid action rod for distance and lift works perfectly, I tend to use quite long leaders 12’ with 4’ tippet, the line doesn’t really turn the leader over that good? Feels like over gunning the Rod with #5 line would turn the leader better, particularly when targeting fish in tight areas, under trees on the far bank etc, Or do I go with a shorter leader? First impressions really good, but that leader turn over has me worried 🎣🎣👍👍
Hi Peter, thanks for the comment, I can’t say I have had the same issue, but I am not using 16’ leaders as we get much closer to the fish in the Chalkstreams. Maybe try and shorter leader and see if it makes a difference?
@@TheSavagederek Double tippet? I’m using a 4X 12 foot copolymer leader stepped down to 2 foot of 5x then 2 foot of 6X turns over perfectly with many other lines. I’ll even go up to 18 feet if the fish are really spooky. What leader/tippet set up are you using, out of interest? 👍🎣
Why did you not show how it casts short, like 15-20ft? As usual everyone is launching the rod/line to oblivion but that's not what most fishing conditions are!
Depends what size of flies you are going to fish generally.. and line weight, the technical taper only goes to a WF6. The Gold is probably the best all rounder, but the technical taper will give great presentation at range....

I picked up a 3wt of this line today for my glass rod, look forward to get out and use it on some local small streams.

Hi Jerad, they are Le Chameau wellies… nothing special….
I’m going to give it a go on my 9’ Hardy Zenith.

Absolutely... the longer belly is perfect for the faster actions of the Zenith and Zephrus...

Mark it will go like a rocket off that.. I put it on my Hardy 9’ 6# Wraith and it flew... similar action to an Asquith....
My rod is 6/8# which line would you recommend? Thanks great video and review btw
I would go with 7#... should balance it nicely...
@@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing I can't find a 7 anywhere hmm. I think 6 is the heaviest in that range
So Peter, which rod have you matched it with? So much merchandising around rods is usually accompanied with a recommendation for a particular line.
Hi Peter, I am fishing this off the Hardy Zephrus Ultalite 9’9” 4# which it goes beautifully on...
Great review. £120.....Eeeek!! How does it compare to Scientific Anglers AST coating? How does it compare to the Rio Perception line?

Yes, going down to a 10’ furled leader and tippet set up, think that might do the trick. 👍
Why are you double tippeting? A 12 foot leader is a complete leader, by adding another four foot of tippet, this could be causing the turnover issue.
