Here I consider how to write a visual analysis of a still life painting by the Dutch early seventeenth-century artist, Clara Peeters. For a written version of this talk, see Jill's blog: renresearch.wo....
For an unseen image that you don't recognise? 1) Don't panic 2) Look slowly and describe carefully 3) Compare it to other images you do know. 4) If steps 1-3 allow you to understand its historical context, talk about the context too. The worst thing to do is to take a wild guess right at the beginning and get it wrong. All slide exams are a test of looking and translating what you see into words (as well as a test of memory and learning).
This is so so so useful! Thanx so much for the lecture! Super clear!
Very useful and engaging. Thank you Professor
you are very welcome!
Thank you so much for this video!!
But what do we do if it’s an exam and we don’t have access to the internet or the library ?
