The cast was great onscreen, but behind the scenes Fred Berry caused problems with the producers, cause he wanted more money.
It was no more than right because the show was making money and he wanted his fair share

In 1974 I wrote to Danielle Spencer and told her how much I liked her on the show and that I was going to be veterinarian when I grew back. She sent me an autographed picture. And years later SHE became the veterinarian.

1974? Really? I think you got your dates wrong. In 1974 Dee and the show did not even come out for 2 MORE YEARS. So how could you have contacted her in 1974 when she was not even known yet??
This was a great show. After the 90's, shows just haven't been the same. Nothing new entertains me like these old classics.

Seeing Rerun dance was the highlight of my day when it first aired and in 2022 . I remember the Hustle was a popular dance .I love the 70s . That decade had the best TV shows .

I wish Mabel had stayed during the 3rd season. The show wasn't the same when she left. They still acknowledged her character. She became an unseen character.

It seems like it was only yesterday I was watching this show when it originally aired, also What's Happening Now. Anyway the actors did an awesome job with their characters and brought them to life. This show was funny, entertaining and had a light hearted and heart warming moral lessons.

THIS WAS A TIME WHEN TV HAD GREAT SHOWS ABOUT BLACK FAMILY. THEY WERE GREAT.I LOVED THEM ALL. I HAD A CRUSH ON DWAYNE WITH HIS NICE LITTLE DERRIERE. EVEN THE POLICE MAN WAS HOT. GREAT TIME THOSE DAYS.

I recently read about the troubled production of this show. It was still in the top 30 shows when it was cancelled at the end of season 3. The reason for it was actor Fred Berry (Rerun) and his constant threats of quitting and alleging racism. The producers decided it wasn’t worth the headache and went ahead and canceled it despite its popularity. When they revived the show (What’s Happening Now!!) in the mid 80s, the “Rerun” character lasted just one season because he started in on his threats again, but this time around they just fired Fred Barry and kept on with the production.
