- Get rock-rock-rockin' with Owen O'Malley as he checks out the G&L L-2000 bass guitar. In this demonstration, Owen shows you what all those rotary knobs and toggle switches can do for your tone while sliding his hand across all stretches of the satin-finished neck. It's the kind of neck that Harry Tasker would love to snap in half during a spy mission, but if you're not Harry Tasker, you might prefer just slapping and popping it around a little bit.

I am just starting out on the bass being a guitar player first, and wow I am in love. Truly if you are thinking about this bass, stop thinking and BUY! I have the Blueburst version and picked it up for $630.00.
Your bass playing is awesome!
owen O'malley always makes gearwire better.
I am in LOVE with my Black American Custom L-2000 bass! Yes, G&L is bad ass!
Really great sounding bass!
For the cash they command they must be one of the very best pound for pound basses available!
This video is win along with the tone and bass playing
Totally true, the Tribute series are very very close to the US ones, which means that this bass is worth at least US$1100, if not more, while it costs only half of that value.
Got one !!! Best Bass I have ever had.Got 3 Fenders gathering dust since I got it.
I own one too. It's my main gigging bass (classic rock, blues). The neck plays smooth and the sound is uber versatile :-)
Get one!
that is a kick ass bass i want one.
i have one of these basses its rly great and i love to use it with my distortion i gives a great growl
DAMN IT I TOTALLY WANT ONE!!!
Not a cousin, more like a late in life child from the same parents. Fender (first born)and Music Man (middle child) are just older siblings of G&L .
these fly under the radar so hard. if you love a P sound; this bass is for you; it is spectacular on the neck PU in series. and it will do everything else in between. a better stingray IMO. I have owned a few EBMM and these are better/ the quality is top drawer.
Little late to the party but I must second to your comment. I too was a big Music Man desciple and still am to a degree in that I'm simply waiting for them to do something that, in my mind, overtakes G&L....hasn't happened yet...even with the Stingray 5 special. I've owned like 7 basses at the same time. I now own 3...all G&L (2xL2Ks and LB100) love them all. Are they the greatest...no, but they make the most sense to me.
Sounds like a jazz bass, but a little more thumpy. Very nice =D
I have one of these with a maple fretboard, and it is hands down the best bass per dollar I've ever got my hands on. The Tribute series G&L basses are far superior to the Mexican Fenders in the same price point, both in construction & tone. To top it all off, there's a heap of mods that can be done to the wiring to suit your tastes.
Oh, and once you play one, that eye-gouger on the headstock really grows on you :)
which one do you prefer guys american deluxe jazz bass or g&l l2000 ? money is no problem since they are for almost the same price.
Owen, I need a new bass for my bass because I need a fat rock tone, close to a Stingray
Would you rather recommend this bass or an Ibanez ATK 300 for that?
I heard both of em shall be great for Stingray tones.. ;)
I love the review...i just sold my mexican Fender p bass ,and i was thinking about a buying sterling ,but now y know what i want...a GL L2000.......
Justo vendi mi Fender p bass, estaba pensando en un Sterling ,pero ahora se lo que quiero..un GL L2000.....
Indeed.
Whats up buddy.Thinking about getting a G&L L 2000 ,never had one .Good voice:?
I'd say its sound is something between a Jazz Bass and a MM Stingray. Very nice =D
jungle boogie, don't know who wrote it but it's in pulp fiction
Hey what would you say the neck profile is most similar to??
This is THE only bass I will ever own and play. Im sorry if I need around 4000 different sounds
He was playing jungle boogey at the beginning, very nice!
only Tribute series vids, I want a vid with the real thing!!!!
I meant good choice or okay bass?
Sad that no one gets the Moody Blues reference. lol
@C3sarbass Kool & the Gang - Jungle boogie
how heavy is that thing?
Great bass. I picked one up for $400 used.
What strings were those..?
Hey what song is he playing? 0:09 ~0:23 ?
Uhm... I don't think so.
No offense, but I own a Stingray and am looking to buy a G&L, and this is nothing like a Ray... Only thing I find they have in common is the crispy highs, I'll give you that. :)
Korea! I think...
jungle boogie!
everyone loves a littl kool n the gang :P
Just got one at 400 USD used. Great bargain compared to priced of basses in same quality and versatility range. Quite well built for an overseas model.
True, it offers many tones but most of them are pretty useless. BUT! The standard tones (active, both pickups, parallel mode) are pretty damn sweet. Rock and slap ... that's what it was made for.
"Rock, Rock, Rock and bass!" = D
-,- Man, I don't need a pick to 'rox' ...
Whatever this bass must be mine!! :@
Hands down, THE best bass money can buy for under $500. Nothing comes close in this price range. I got mine for $325 used in mint condition. The only negative I'd say is G&L's typically boring meat and potatoes looks.
make that 7.....
This bass is nealy the same as a Musicman Sabre Bass, exept the new PU.
sounds just like a stingray :)
G&L BASS GUİTAR SLAP SOUND (U.S.A)
he should also mention that the neck is like a baseball bat......legit...a warning for people with small hands
kool & the gang
u need to clam up
