Truth to be told, I was in japan couple of months ago. Went to a girls bar and had trouble conversing with the girls since my Japanese wasn’t good enough. After a short 5-10 mins hanging around, I was shocked to be charged 200usd. Was reluctant to pay but was afraid of the dudes standing behind me (obviously the bouncers). Overall, I’m not against the concept of girls bar, quite interesting if you could interact with them well it seems but as tourists, guess we need to be extremely careful
200USD for 10 mins ? You got scammed homie. But yes - if you stroll around the more sketchy area's in Tokyo as a tourist (i.e. Kabukicho), after some alcohol, not being able to speak Japanese (well) there is almost 50% chance you will get ripped off, and if you're unlucky, even get your money/card stolen if you visit sex worker area's (that are in some cases ran by the Nigerian mafia). It's good to do your research first online (or ask locals) and be wary when things look too good to be true (as they always are lol). Don't get me wrong, there are places like these that are "honest" but you definitely need to pick them out.
Every Kabukicho guide says to avoid people standing on the street and shouting, especially if they have a sign in English. Japan explorer has the courage to go there. If the place is not checked beforehand, the risk of a scam is too high.
I would avoid these places unless your japanese is very good, these are not places for the casual tourist...in fact even Japanese people think these places are generally just for wierdos and ecchi types.

Of course, tipping isn't a thing in japan, but think of those fees and those taxes they give you after you're done. I think they wouldn't want someone being there hanging out, buying nothing it would be weird lol. I wouldn't mind a couple drinks for 55 mins at most if they're of great quality. Imported alcohol in japan isn't cheap so I guess they gotta make more money than what the cost is.

you forgot to answer the 3 things most people would want to know so here ks the answers: 1. how much usd on average - around 150 usd +- on a place like this for around 2 houres 2. is there any extras - altough some girls do offer it. its rare and mostly no one offer anything in 95% of the times its a no. you come you pay for company and go. and japan is very bad place for that anyway as these things can cost 3-400 usd or a lot more there. 3. if you dont know japanese you can bearly talk to them there.
