They don’t care about the riots that destroyed property and business, and literally killed people..., because it had no affect on them, but once these moronic fools ran on the Capitol building and made a threat? Now they care.
I hate this rioting nonsense, all of it, but if there is one lesson to be learned? No one is safe. At least people in Congress have cops and Secret Service, can get military in there protecting them, the regular citizens don’t have that luxury.

According to Irving, the Capitol was under siege by demonstrators & Head of Capital police told him things were out of control but... Irving 'couldn't recall' if he had to think about whether HE had to make a decision or HE had to ask superiors ('run it up') or not? How could he not recall such an important moment in response to a request to call up the guard? Laughable if it weren't so despicable. I saw video of Capitol police effectively escorting flag-carrying demonstrators (not insurrectionists!) through the capitol hallway and down a stanchion-lined path in vestibule in a very orderly fashion. I see where these Capitol officers were seen as 'complicit' by the General but really simply felt unthreatened by the AMERICANS who wanted entry to the building in a peaceful protest. They were keeping watch over the 'rioters' rather than just letting them pass. That took way more courage than Senators and Representatives exhibited who ran from their constituents. Not a Congressional 'leader' in the bunch; just guilty cowards!

There was a video with a French woman who reported talking to a Capitol Policeman. He returned to the Capitol from home when he heard of the incident.
