  • Frustrated your Jeep Renegade has a weak battery and/or the 12 Volt socket in the rear hatch only works when the key is on? Here's how to upgrade to an Optima Yellow Top Battery and add a fuse to enable the rear 12V power socket to work full time, even when your Renegade is not running, so you can run a 12V fridge/freezer unit.

    Seems counter productive and a very easy set-up to overdraw power from your battery.

      I built a camp kitchen with an onboard AGM battery and solar panel that I swap the fridge over to for power. Will eventually upgrade the camp kitchen to lithium for more power. Renegade keeps low power fridge running for short durations

      @@Savagecamper Let me know. At some I might be interested in exploring that option. I think I would want to make a few changes...but overall a fine build.

    Another questions, I’d like to also make the center console rear outlet all time active, do you know where I can locate the fuse for that outlet and what type of fuse I need?

    I accidentally took off the the top left terminal off (with two red connecting wires) and it out my vehicle in some kinda safety mode where it doesn’t crank but all other power works … I haven’t been able to figure it out yet

      Sorry to hear hopefully you get it figured out with too much effort. Would be interested to know myself. Thanks for the comment.

      Did you figure out what happened? I have a 2018 that needs a new battery but I've heard it can mess up other stuff if settings aren't backed up.

    For the rear 12v port, if the car is turned off but nothing is plugged in the port to draw out power, would it still draw out power even if there isn’t anything plugged into it? Thanks!

    • @Savagecamper
      @Savagecamper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jonathan the rear 12V socket will not draw power without plugging something into it.

    My 2016 Trailhwk came with an EFB stop/start battery, not AGM.

      @@Savagecamper Yes. It only works if the battery (I have an AGM fitted now) is fully charged.

    QUESTION did you use jumper cables to start car or booster pack i was told it would damage rengade electronics jumpstarting?

    • @tarquinfintim5910
      @tarquinfintim5910 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doesn't. I use a Noco jump starter to get the Rene running again after my lame cooler has run the battery down over a werkend. I really need to get a leisure battery.

      Hello sorry you're having trouble. Your issue is beyond my knowledge, but I did a quick search and found the problem could be one of multiple issues, including: "faulty thermostat, low coolant fluid level, malfunctioning heater core, a leaking cooling system, or problems with heating controls and blend door". I'm sorry I could not be more help with your heat issue
