Bryce Harper CSN Pitching Debut

  • Phenom Bryce Harper hits a HR & pitches relief in the same game, making his CSN pitching debut. I can find no record of Bryce pitching for CSN before this game. #1 Ranked College of Southern Nevada at #2 Ranked Western Nevada College, Game 1 on 4/17/10. After playing RF & having a great day at the plate with another HR, Harper unexpectedly takes the mound with the game on the line, tied 4-4. This phenom can do it all! Can Bryce pull it off? Let's hope the Nationals pass on him so he falls to my beloved Pirates! Enjoy!

    he really is an inspiration, quit school early, gets his ged to go to college so he can be drafted....proceeds to further his development by using wooden bats when college hitters usually use aluminum. cant hate on his ambition

    Harper was 3-23 that weekend and it was the first time CSN was swept in their history. Over 2,000 people attended the games that weekend in Carson City. CSN and WNC played in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, a wood bat league (NV, CO, UT, ID). Tim Chambers was the CSN coach and DJ Whittemore coached the Wildcats. After his dismal hitting performance, Harper took his bat and busted the water cooler. Whatever, I still got his autograph!

    I remember playing against a kid in high school that was drafted by the Marlins. Very athletic, good bat (B - L / T - R), 6'4" solid muscle, ridiculous speed, a really good arm from center. They brought him in to pitch in the late innings and we were all thinking he was going to be throwing bullets. As we lined up along the dugout to watch him warm up I remember thinking this can't be real, after his fourth or fifth warm up pitch we all broke out in unison with uncontrollable laughter. I bet his fastball never reached 55 mph, its like he was shot-putting the ball or something. A big ass intimidating dude standing on the mound, yet he basically only throws change-ups and super slow change-ups.

    • @Jay_Force_One
      @Jay_Force_One ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people fail to understand that throwing in the field and pitching are completely different.
      In my younger years I had a decent arm in the In-field, but they would put me on the mound and I would throw maybe 70…..on my best days. Way behind most people my age at the time. Just didn’t have the mechanics for the velocity there.
      I mean, you see it in the MLB all the time too. Every once in a while they put a all star fielder on the mound and even the try-hards have a hard time touching 80. On the other hand they have put pitchers at 3rd base who you expect to throw rockets over the first. Nope. It’s usually like a bouncer or way off target. Matt Chapman, who is known to throw 90+ across the Diamond from 3B probably couldn’t touch 90 on mound.

    he's performing better this year, but he's also a year older, with a years more of experience. next year harper will be putting up the same number as Trout. to perform like he's doing in the majors at the age of 19 is pretty unheard of.

  • @GuitarAndBaseball21
    @GuitarAndBaseball21 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    actually, he was being very smart. on a 3-0 count, the pitcher will most likely leave one in the strike zone not expecting you to swing or hit, therefore you can assume the pitcher will throw a pitch in the strike zone where it is hittable. ill agree it is a somewhat bad idea to swing on a 3-0, but if the ball is where you want it and you know you can hit it, by all means swing away.
