The concert took place on November 13, 2009 at the Barbican Hall in London. A Jazzvoice concert with several artists was the opening ceremony of the London Jazz Festival 2009. The songs were arranged and conducted by Guy Barker. Btw / another link: There is also a YT video of Natalie Merchant performing “Break Your Heart” with Gay Parker on trumpet as part of an edition of “Later with Jools Holland”.
I hate to go there, or seem like i'm reducing her or any woman to their appearance, but she looks really great here. I've seen her and that old band i won't name several times and i had no idea she was only 5'1"..~ (Insert either "good things come in small packages",or "What a dynamo big voice or big personality she has!", or "She's still head-and-shoulders above the crowd.", whichever cliche as you'd choose...)
although its great to have a live version of this exceptional rare/b-side, somehow part of the mystique is lost when filming shots of fingers on wind instruments & the string section on cue.... perhaps not all songs need video documentation, especially hauntingly atmospheric songs like this gem. natalie's voice is so seductive, perfection when every syllable counts... counts
