  • We are thrilled to announce the official opening of the Santa Clara River Preserve. The preserve is located in Ventura County, and it encompasses nearly 1,000 acres of restored riverside forest, wetlands, thriving upland habitat and almost two miles of the river. TNC has been protecting and restoring properties along the Santa Clara River since 1999, reversing the impacts of past sand and gravel mining and helping to recover endangered species.
Explore the trails, join us for a guided naturalist hike or just relax by the water. This preserve is free and open to the public seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

I’ve lived on this river most of my life. Without lake Piru feeding it unnaturally, it can’t sustain Steelhead. It dries up rapidly, any eggs left behind by steelhead would die in early spring. Please explain to me how hundreds of years ago we had thousands of steelhead?

Somebody has hacked your account. The video here has nothing to do with the river preserve.
