  • New Mexico's Gila River is one of the last free-flowing rivers in the southwest United States, attracting magnificent wildlife to its waters. See why and how groups like The Nature Conservancy are working with partners to keep this river wild and free.

Letting the watershed flow and balancing human needs with conservation is something that is so rare because of the financial incentives to make natural systems more humancentric. The fundamental basic disconnection with nature ruptures preservation. I agree that people appreciating the area is key but it often requires actual presence and involvement to ensure that all voices are heard. I applaud the effort to respect and support positive change in a beautiful river system.

This takes me right back to the Land of Enchantment! Beautiful video of an extraordinary place worth saving.

New Mexico is a sad economic wasteland and has been really environmentally poorly managed. You wonder if so many of these economically-ruined places in the USA, and elsewhere, should just be left alone to go back to nature, with some responsible environmental guidance of course.
