I like watching TH-cam vids. I love reading the comments. People argue sometimes but truly the community of viewers aka TH-cam streets look out for each other and try to speak truth. The comedy and clever wit is pretty good a lot of times as well. I appreciate that.
Really just take out a spoon from your drawer b4 cooking, keep next to sink and "wash" it while washing your hands. Rids hands of yucky onion/garlic smells. Works like a charm. 😉
That's just wrong on so many levels! Transferring nasty smells.. ewwy! Be simpler just to use gloves. You pretty much can buy a box of them anywhere for things like this. You know, those thin ones that you see some kitchen workers use and are disposable.
If my mom was still alive she'd shake her head (as did I) at a lot of these! I won't mention everything because pretty much everything has been covered in the comment section. The one I didn't see was for the cake pan liner. That's a lot to go through just to make a liner that looked like it fell short of reaching the sides. My mom would simply use waxed paper, turn the pan upside down and use an x-acto knife (hobby knife) to cut around the pan. instant liner, proper fit OR she'd use the tried and true flour the pan method. Put some flour in the pan and move it about til the bottom and sides are coated, dump out any extra. That little bit of flour on the cake after baking won't damage the taste or any icing used. You can use a pastry brush and lightly brush away the flour still there, if you're picky... lol. For the liner you could make many and place them in a large baggie or container to have them on hand if you're going to do a lot of baking. Make them well ahead and store. :) Beats having to stop and remember to do it when you actually need it.
13:13 technique also works for marshmallows, bread in the marshmallow bag revives stale, hard marshmallows. But don't leave the bread too long, or they get sticky. A fresh marshmallow or three in that cookie jar may also revive the cookies, and they may take on their flavor, too.
The bread in with the cookies is great for keeping chewy or soft cookies soft, but if the bread touches the cookies, that part of the cookie(s) will become too damp and will fall off. So I put a piece of waxed paper in-between the cookies and the bread, and close the lid. If they start getting dry after 2-3 days, just take that piece of bread out, and put a new one in. I usually only need a half of a slice to keep them chewy. (It's also great to use for brownies as well.) Happy Baking, everyone! :)
