Thank you for the floss tube and for the meditative moment.
I heard tying a thread knot at the eye of the needle will keep silk thread from becoming unthreaded. I now do this with all my threads. Certainly the needle stays threaded with a bonus “pop” as the thread goes in and out of the linen. I adore that pop. That pop gives my heart joy and calms my spirit. The sounds of stitching. Comforting.

I have to tell you, I have watched this twice. Not only for the stitchy content, but to also just absorb some of your creativity. I wish I had been encouraged as a child to lean into that aspect of me. I not only enjoy being creative, i just really enjoy others art. And appreciate seeing all of it. Stitching has been my one hobby that I have always done. I dabble in everything and move on usually. You described it perfectly. It calms my anxiety immediately just to sit in my spot and get my things ready to stitch. My body knows what is coming and relaxes. The sound of the thread almost like the gentle snore of a beloved pet cuddled up with me. Your second offering to us is just as good as the first. Bravo!

I LOVED the guided meditation at the end. Thank you for that. I'm a St Louis girl born and raised and I grew up at the height of the Mary Englebreit craze, I loved her store in the Galleria and in fact my coworkers threw a Mary Englebreit themed baby shower for my first daughter. I really enjoyed your floss tube and look forward to meeting at a stitching event in the future. I live in the Branson area now but make it up to Quilters Station retreats regularly.

I am beyond happy that I found your floss tube channel. I have watched both your videos twice and the intros two or three times (on both). The intros resonate with me especially the second intro. I am seventy one and basically I am a hand quilter who learned to quilt at my grandmother’s, my great aunt’s and my mother’s knees. I have always felt great joy and comfort in hand quilting. It is my one connection I share with these powerful and beautiful women whose blood and genes flow through my soul and body. I feel they are sitting around me when I am at my quilt. I also dabbled in cross stitch a bit in the eighties and nineties when my children were young and I also worked. Cross stitch was portable and easier to do while travelling back and forth to work. I liked that it kept my hands busy and filled a creative void that I needed. My children grew older and I was able to get back into quilting. I was never truly in love with the cross stitch style of that time period. Now that I have retired I find that I have a lot of free time and doing a bit more traveling. Again I need something more portable than a full sized quilt to take along.
I happened, quite by accident, to come across floss tube while scrolling through TH-cam. Wow have things change in the world of cross stitch! Like you I am a monogamous (not strictly--I have three projects on the go) stitcher. I pick a pattern because it speaks to me and calls to me and I fall in love with the project. I love working on it, I love seeing its progress and I want to see it through to the end. I think maybe quilting has taught me the patience to love the process. I try to understand how some have twenty to thirty WIPS on the goal but that would make me nervous and put pressure on me to drive me nuts.
When you talked about the feel of the fabric and the sound of the thread going through the fabric I understood you perfectly. Sometimes I sit and gently run my fingers over my quilting. It calms me and puts me in a better space. I love the sound of thread being pulled through the fabric and the rhythmic movements
Sorry this is turning into a novel but I am so excited to have found you. I thought I was the only one who was not buying and starting project after project with no finishes in sight. Also how you described what stitching means to you is how I feel.
I cannot wait for your next video.

Thank you for the meditation. I’m 70 and spend a lot of time at home alone. I developed myasthenia gravis when I was 66 right before I retired. Needless to say I am not spending my retirement as I thought I would. So I’m happy to find new videos to watch and follow. I hope you will include meditation in your videos. Your voice is also very soothing which is so calming. I try to stitch and watch. I also make quilts. I love to finish them but have more fun starting a project. Again I thank you. BTW I had watched your first video too.

Oh Jackie! So fabulous from the touching beginning to the peaceful ending! I have to run to my file cabinet to find my saved ME paper dolls. Didn’t have to one with Maggie Lou, but enjoyed savoring them again. Maybe one day I’ll get to share them with my granddaughter and also pass on some stitching or crocheting. Love the passing of the traditions to your niece. Joyfully, I have one niece and one great niece who have embraced our other crafty family tradition of crocheting. Cherished memories. As a retired RN, and health and wellness coach, I feel as if I have been revitalized with your video. Lovely. I have also always been a huge Mary Engelbreit fan, and have many of the paper dolls framed in my home- so precious to 'meet' someone who helped bring them to life. Lastly, a huge dog lover- love that one of your dogs was named Bonnie, my cousin once named her dog after me, Bonnie, and I found it to be one of the largest compliments I was ever given. Just finished this second video and again, it was a joy. Even though I cannot relate to it and my life's experience has been so different almost from the start I loved the intro. It is so lovely, warm and welcoming, really happy for all those who are familiar with these experiences.
In my youth creativity was my safe space, mostly drawing at the time, but a bit of cross stitch too (self taught , knots in all :-) ) , later came a lot of knitting and for the last 3,5 decades quilting (all made by hand, patchwork, applique and the actual quilting). Recently I discovered cross stitch again, samplers mostly , all because someone told me about flosstubes. I am soooo enjoying entering this new world and learning new things. I have yet to start my first big sampler project (already kitted though) right now I am following Nicola Parkman's tutorials to learn and an online course I bought but even those two projects seem a bit much, to decide which one I will spend time on.... I do believe that like you I am a monogamous stitcher.
I would get very nervous and restless if I were to have a lot wip's, although as you said it is such fun seeing all the projects others work on. But hand stichting on one project is really kind of meditative I always thought and the end of this video made it all came together for me. I have never tried meditation before (" not for me " ;-) ) but I really enjoyed this, so thank you so much for that. I will come back to it and I was going to ask you to do this more often, but now I notice you have put up an extra video, I will watch that later on today. A lot of things that I love, enjoy, appreciate and need re hand sewing and hand stitching come together in your video's, so thank you so much for making these and sharing your experiences and past work (love it!) with us.

I'm so glad that your channel popped up as a recommendation!
My grandparents adopted two dogs as puppies that were described as airedales when I was quite young. They were wonderful with my sister and I, but knowing what I know about dogs now and looking at pictures of them, I'm pretty sure that they were mixed with Irish Wolfhound (smile).
I'm going to admit that I have a fabric problem lol. It's probably a good thing for me that the closest LNS to me closed when the owners retired... I honestly have NO business buying another piece of fabric. EVER! I love your choices and descriptions, though.
i so admire people who do 50 starts for their 50th birthday or 60 for their 60th... it seems so decadent and like it would be so much fun to kit and start that many pieces. I know, though, that for me, at the end of that year I'd be completely stressed because I would feel pressured to continue to work on each one.

To use your term I was once again “gobsmacked”. Your intro alone is just so soothing to me-very special! I also struggled pulling a single thread from the skein. What helps me is separating one 6 strand length and putting it back on the tag. Pulling one strand from 6 rather than 30plus strands is so much easier-less tangly! Thank you for sharing your needlework-it’s a real gift!

I'm going to save this to watch just the meditation part when I can't get my mind to shut off so I can sleep. Thank you so much! Your stitching and shopping treasures were great too.

This is a repost as first time disappeared. Oh Jackie, this was delightful from touching beginning to soothing end! Your stitching is beautiful and thanks for sharing symbolism too. I had to rush to my file cabinet to peruse my saved ME paper dolls, though not the one with Maggie Lou. Sadly I also no longer have the magazines either but maybe one day will remember to share them with my granddaughters. Loved hearing of you passing along the family crafting traditions to your niece. I hope to do that also with the grands. I have a niece and great niece who have carried on the crocheting craft. Thank you again for a wonderful flosstube, keep them coming.

I had a moment to watch your second floss tube, it was just as enjoyable as the first. You calmed me long before the meditation. It is a comfort to hear your message and see your talent. Your detail explanation of the fabric you purchased with the DMC comparison was perfect! I grabbed my floss chart and was able to see the colors. Thank you for sharing your experience and journey with us.

I just love listening to you! You are so interesting and talented and I’m so jealous that you have sisters you can share the love of stitching with. I do not know anyone near me who stitches either so I am relying on meeting new friends at stitchy retreats. I am going to the second Stitch New England retreat in October which I’m excited about! Loved hearing your story about Maggie Lou - I’m also a lover of terriers, they have wonderful personalities! I get to dog sit occasionally for my friend’s Wheaten terrier who is a delight! Happy stitching!❤

Thank you so much for the wonderful video. Your awesome to listen to and to see what you are stitching on. I will check out your suggestions of the FlossTubers. Happy Stitching.

Jackie, you are such a wonderful person-I have always thought of my stitching as meditation and therapy in such a busy world. Your introduction was so lovely and the meditation was needed by so many of us. I also loved seeing Archie-he is a sweetie. I’ve had 3 Scotties and my 2nd one was a brindle/black like Archie. He was a rescue and his name was Dandee. Our first one was Skipper McDougal (Skippy) and our last one was a little rescue girl named Happy. Even though they were all Scotties, their personalities were so different from each other. It was so fun seeing your beautiful pieces and your purchases. You are truly an inspiration and I am thrilled that you are making FlossTubes for us to enjoy. Thank you!♥️

Wow!!!! Jackie, what just happened?? Never did I take the time to meditate, of course , I cross stitch, quilt or knit because I notice it does something to me. But never did I take the time to "only/just" meditate, to busy, so many things that had priority. Allthough in my last comment, on your first floss tube, I was one of the people who said I loved your voice. So this time I decided to stay for the guided meditation, "let's just take this once the time and listen/try and let it in.
But you stopped so soon, I was moved, tears but also a big smile. So really THANK YOU, I mean that, thank you for the experience. And please come back with this! -xx- Marion, Netherlands.

Hi Jackie - so grateful you posted another video. As I've gotten older, I 've noticed that I am very deliberate when I stitch. I'm focused on my stitching ( not on my grocery list, etc) and what a beautiful picture I'm making. Maybe it's my age ( almost 80) but my stitching is more purposeful. Thank you for taking the risk to guide us through meditation. It was beautiful!❤

Well, @brendasamplerstitcher was so right in asking us to stop what we were doing and watch you! I, too, am a monogamous stitcher…so, it’s comforting to know I’m not alone. That being said, thanks to flosstubes, I have many charts, kitted projects and an ever growing “wish” list - so enjoyable! Love Mary Englebreit! And, got her magazines specifically for the paper dolls! Brought sweet memories as a child getting the paper dolls from McCall’s. I don’t recall the “Georgia” paper doll - but, I’m now on the hunt as it’s my namesake! Your work was/is fabulous! Grateful for the guided meditation - cross stitching provides that for me daily❤️ Til next time…namaste

Just wanted to say that I am SO enjoying you. I used to take Mary's magazine and saved the paper doll patterns! I am also a monogamous stitcher and feel a bit overwhelmed when cross stitchers pull out their 35 WIPS to share. Loved the guided meditation you finished this episode with as I've been in a yoga class for 6 years and find thoughtful words such a calming element. I had never considered the slow individual stitches, their sound as they pass through the cloth, the snip sound of the sharp little scissors as part of the enjoyment of the craft...heaven! XO

Thank you for sharing what stitching means to you. I love you taking time to help us learn more about this art. I think I will start doing more research. I have just started recovering from a 25 year dark hole in my life from a traumatic event. As you started the meditation and guided us through focusing on the act of stitching, it came to me that I had picked up stitching after a long hiatus in 2020. I have known for a while that stitching is meditative for me. I think that stitching gave me the strength to finally delve deep with my therapist and have the breakthrough I had last June 27! Thank you for your guided meditation. It was a wonderful addition to the app I use. Looking forward to next time.
