I was really impressed by this. This was not just another flight from A to B from the cockpit, but the Captain went out of his way to explain everything from HF and CPDLC in action, Chinese airspace deviations, and all that in a very clear and concise way. Gabe and FR24 managed to film and include clips of rare insights behind those rugged cockpit doors that separate the average Passenger from that world upfront. Thank you Gabe, and thank you FR24 team for making this happen!
I worked for 9 years for Etihad as an ops controller and later flight safety officer……I flew on the maiden flight of A6-MLB into MAN……..Also, I remember a Thai captain friend of mine Stan always used to comment how he used to have to double check his fuel figures as the 787 was so incredibly economical!!…..( previously flown B777 and A340s)
This was an absolute treat to watch. The Boeing 787 cockpit looks absolutely incredible! And the Flight crew were amazing and professional. I especially appreciate the Captain taking his time to explain the various aspects of the flights. As a fellow Aviation enthusiast that was very enjoyable to listen to and I hope you get to do more of these flights from the cockpit in the future.
Simply put, one very happy Flightradar24 viewer = me - one very happy Flightrader24 employee = Gabe Leigh - one truly very beautiful aircraft and one beautiful video ! Thanks, Jim
Those HF frequencies are crazy strong. I used one flying from Santa Maria to Shanwick airspace last week (Western point of Europe) and we were picking up the radio chat of Mumbai really clearly. TJ is exactly like every other Irish captain out there! I'd say hes a sound lad to fly with
Smashed another great video Gabriel, This is one if not the best aviation channels on the net, the way you narrate these is more like a story and is such a pleasure to watch, thanks for doing this sir and never give up. All the best from Manchester in the UK.
I love that the captain went out of his way to explain what’s going on shows you that he really cares and as a airplane mechanic and hopefully a future pilot I really like this video
Incredibly informative piece ........the Captain was so articulate in presenting his knowledge of the procedures, l found that very educational. Great work and definitely the best cockpit work l have seen.
Excellent! Had the pleasure of meeting Captain Thomas at my gig earlier this week. Very interesting chat and thanks for the heads-up on this video. Really nicely done. Thank you. P.
Such a cool video! I sat watching mesmerized by the all the detail, the professionalism of the crew, the 787's beautiful flightdeck and all the interesting tidbits of info concerning this particular flight. Thank you for making these super cool videos!
Gabe, Thank you so much for this one. The best cockpit video I have ever seen. I agree with others that the Captain was special. Many of them are very open explaining what they are doing but this one was the best I have seen. Thank you again for giving us flight experiences we can never have.
Watched this from beg to end..love this informative video. Subscribed to flight radar since 2018 and verify everytime a huge plane is overhead. Relatives and friends coming and going appreciate my info on their flights
Being Irish myself, I clocked Captain Horan’s Irish accent straight away - I wonder is he a relative of the late Mgr James Horan, Parish Priest of Knock in County Mayo in the West of Ireland, who built Ireland West Connaught Airport? And currently working for Ethiad, does he fly into Dublin Airport or into here in Manchester from Abu Dhabi? He’s probably also worked with our national carrier Aer Lingus (Shamrock) or Ryanair as well 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Absolutely fantastic video! I now got the feeling I was in that cockpit during that flight myself, thank you!. So great to see pilots working together and how challenging that work ist.
I enjoyed my economy trip in a 787 from Copenhagen to Montreal (YUL) this summer. We got to see glaciers on Greenland. And Air Canadas on-board service was amazing. I was gobsmacked by the size and beauty of the dreamliner, being mostly a regional small plane passenger. Fascinating video. Thank you
So very cool to see the flight deck. My wife and I just took a trip from LAX to Papeete on our first Dreamliner. As an AvGeek I felt like a kid again when my parents worked for both TWA and Delta and my very first trip at 8 years old to HNL on a B707. This was an amazing video. Thank you 🙏🏻
Awesome video. I hope you're enjoying/enjoyed Osaka and Kyoto. They're both wonderful places I got to visit this year. Cant wait for another video. I just subscribed today!
Just came across this video on TH-cam,one of the best videos i have seen on planes. I DId this route back in november 2019. Dublin Abu Abu Narita and back again beautifuk flights Where is Capt Horen from i am on flightrack24 all the time. Keep up the great work.
I really don't want to just say that this was a lot of fun, but it was a lot of fun!! Yes, the captain and crew were great. And the explanation of the operation was very cool. I would love to sit up there for a flight as I'm going to Thailand in two weeks!! Thanks!!
Great video, Gabriel! A very professional crew with good anticipation and situational awareness. Mandarin on the radio in Chinese airspace? The purpose of listening to other communications on the same frequency is to help with situational awareness. If those communications are in Mandarin (which most foreign crews do not understand), then that is definitely a hazard. The Chinese crews need to practice speaking more English with ATC (even in China) so that they can cope with the rapid-fire clearances issued to them when they fly to the U.S.A.
Great video! It was really awesome and fun to watch it. With a cam on the dashboard for clear front view will be great as well if it's possible sometimes :)
Excellent video and great piloting! I'm not a pilot, I just enjoy flying and watching such videos but I have a question: in most take-off videos I watched, the flying pilot keeps doing this manually until maybe 10000 feet and then the AP is engaged. I notice here that the AP was engaged soon after "gear up" ... am I missing something? What is different here? The aircraft?
That’s an airline policy. Some will give pilots more discretion to hand fly longer if they want. Others require AP pretty much right away. Very unusual for anyone to fly manually up to 10,000 feet though; never seen anything close to that!
I was really impressed by this. This was not just another flight from A to B from the cockpit, but the Captain went out of his way to explain everything from HF and CPDLC in action, Chinese airspace deviations, and all that in a very clear and concise way.

Thank you for watching and for the very nice comment!
Captain Horan is an excellent pilot and a true professional 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Captain Horan stayed at the hotel that I work at a month or so ago and he is genuinely one of the nicest and funiest people I met at the hotel.
That’s very cool! Yes we agree!
@@Flightradar24DotComhow does this captain differ from the captain you were with from SAS? I mean flying philosopies
One of the best cockpit videos that I’ve ever viewed. The flight radar host was awesome with his explanation and narrative.
Thank you!
Captain was amazing!
Can’t beat an Irish captain! Loved it felt like I was there !
Thanks! 🇮🇪🥳
U
I find it fascinating how the captain elaborates on the very specific details that haven't been explained by others in aviation.
Brilliant captain could listening to him all day 👍🏻😎
Agreed!

He was great, yeah!

What an amazing flight and the captain was fantastic! Just love how he was explaining everything that was going on.
Yes the Captain was great! Thanks for the comment.

KIX the king of airports, who doesn’t love Osaka and the approach over Awaji, Kobe and the Osaka bay into Izumisano !
