I'm really surprised how ignorant and judgemental most of these comments are. He speaks a lot of truth and there's science behind what he says. Just because you don't 'get' his ideas or art doesn't mean you can stupidly say some predictable drug related comment which just shows your maturity and ignorance. You don't have to like his performance or art but that doesn't take away from the validity of his points. This dude is a rhythmic legend for one. Try looking into some the things discussed before you start predictably typing "acid" or "weed" as though it's funny.
Mickey is such a nice cool guy too. He spoke at the last dead show last night and he said 2 words before they left: "Be Kind". The guy is a great drummer and all around great guy
i've noticed there is a lot of that going on around the cool scenes and it must be because they just don't know how to be cool yet... maybe they had too much too fast.... but you know Love is what they need and society isn't giving it to them, their Country has failed the compassion test, their parents must not be there, so society has to learn how to love those that need it the most to heal the wound. Eliminate hate and pollution is all Mother Earth needs to be well soon. Loving Peace
I knew Jerry the rest of the band I was hooked up with Bear’s Acid operation. Four of the guys are still playing. If you don’t take the opportunity to see the 2021 tour your a looser in the greatest mind expanding enterprise in the history of mankind. Don’t let the deal go down without you ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️
This man is genius beyond this world. Listen to the disc Planet Drum. Soak it in and understand, Ancient Rythm flows through all our DNA. Mickey Hart with his self built string synth" Big Hair " and a Theramin. Sure wish I was going to the 50th anniversary shows this summer. Seen this guy play the loudest musical note ever played at Laguna Seca back in '87 on that rig. Bad Ass thunder making mother with him pounding away on it. Mickey is a Legend.
Mickey Hart is beyond phenomenal! He has literally channeled God (or the spirits) by using rhythm through percussion instruments as his medium. He then takes the rhythm and uses its power to visually represent or capture them on canvas! Beyond amazing.
how anyone can hate on mickey I can't even he's an artist sharing his process-- a very intimate thing to share guess some ppl's idea of art is limited to coloring inside the lines thank god that's not mickey's vibe🌺
healing through sound. Mikey has been doing this for 50 years.. really bums me out to read these negative comments. imagine healing without medicine, sounds amazing!. leave it up to Mikey to bring this idea to life. a member of the grateful dead, not a Swiss scientist.....go figure..
This guy is out here doing his thing and actually using his brain to uncover so much musically. Yet, people will still hate. If you don't understand something, look into it and learn. Don't just reject what you don't know or what you think is "too weird". Be kind, everyone :)
Acrylic Pouring or Resin Pouring Inspired by Music ~ Energizing the artist's expression, extending it to the canvas. Something so many artists practice today to get them into the ZONE ~ It's hypnotic and Devine*
I knew know everyone involved with the Dead.Jerry let me sit behind the amps in 1971 , I met Bear who ran their sound and almost 50 years later I have tickets to 2 shows here in Florida with the girl I met at a show in 1988. It doesn’t get any better than Grateful Dead See you at the shows people ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️
I think it was Amazing! Stop saying he uses drugs or stuff, because HE,is a true artist! He's expressing his self by music and paint. You know what guys, de all have our own ways. So if he's happy with doing that, respect him. Thanks for your time.
Everyones just looking at the way he acts without trying to understand what he's saying. It's a pitty that a lot of us aren't ready for a higher understanding of certain things.
Someone should tell Mr. Hart about the Japanese painting technique, Suminagashi, aka Japanese paper marbling. Unlike Turkish paper marbling, Suminagashi uses ink and soap on top of water, which allows the ink to organically flow and bend based on the water currents.
Ghost Adventures used sound frequency to sync up with ghosts in a cave, was pretty awesome. Some say using the right frequency can open a portal between our world and theirs.
In this day and age main stream music is bought and sold by the corporate elite. And it is very sad to see that most of the young people don't get to see true art and music. They are fed a continual diet of over processed and very limited junk. Mickey Hart and The Grateful Dead managed to stay away from this dumbing down of art. Mickey and the Grateful Dead managed to stay alive by touring during a time when record sales were holding the artist back from his or her true art. What we see here is an accomplished artist in his true place of creation for the sake of the art. Unlike many musicians that unfortunately were caught up in and destroyed by the corporation. Rather than serve as a slave to the record companies, this man is able to continue to move creatively ever forward, further higher and stay on the cutting edge of artform. He loves what he does and owns his artform.
No need to be negative about something this guy is passionate about.
So many people are having trouble grasping the concepts in this video.... no surprise there!
Damn man I really felt what this guy was talking about and then I read some of the comments. It's interesting how different people view things.
Me too. I'm really surprised at many of the comments on here :(

Bret Ellis amen!!
Bret Ellis TH-cam kids don't really understand much outside of the mainstream. Sad really.

Drums > Space to a whole new level!
Mickey Hart is beyond phenomenal!

Beyond amazing.
This guy rules. Music, art, science, micro, macro. Yes.
Beautiful. I've seen him many times over the years and THIS DUDE is more in tune with sounds than many people could imagine.
how anyone can hate on mickey I can't even he's an artist sharing his process-- a very intimate thing to share guess some ppl's idea of art is limited to coloring inside the lines thank god that's not mickey's vibe🌺
His painting looks amazing, like the geography of Earth from space.
Mickey is a musical genius, don't hate on something you don't understand
