  • Siege Battles in Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties do handle better due to a combination of auto-resolve benefits if you build equipment and the instruction of lethality but still there are problems.

    To avoid cluster at walls and gates, attack settlements from multiple sides and use advance stances to create a breech point after breaking the gates open.

    Having to wait for siege equipment is the entire point of walled settlements, they have to be actually defensible. In older TW games very often you don’t want to fight the siege at all, you can afford to just wait for 5 years until settlement gives up. We don’t need instant sieges in historical games, imho.

      Im fine with sieges taking the time they take. That is why people built fortresses and walled cities. Are sieges annoying for the attacker? Yes, that is the whole point.

      @@Costin_GamingThat’s been the total war meta but clearly sieges and administration costs are a design choice. A little annoying at times but snowballing was too easy in warhammer 3

    Talking about the fort situation, literally 3K managed to solution the General problem by making "Commanders" that are a mini general in a a mid tier unit that only boosts little bit of morale. I think that would be good to implement it here

    I think elite heavily armored units being better at everything is what ruins the balance. Imagine if these heavily armored units had lower MD to reflect moving slower in armor. Ok they have a shield so that raises MD but they now have a low MA. But as it stands. Heavy armor units have none Stats in every category in most cases.

      The problem for me is the lack of real room to kite and wear them down. I have no problem with heavy armor units and can usually outplay them and cause them to rout by kiting and flanking and ambushes. Theyre slow so you can do that.

    My problem with sieges is they don’t happen. The enemy will only ever starve me out.
    I have over 40 hours and have yet to fight a single siege battle.

    I think fort and generals are effort to prevent snowbaling with mediocre armies by forcing you to deal with forts and outpost before you deal with settlements themselves.Also, it seems to me tahat those are efforts to make neccessity to have million generals to staff each settlement, wich generaly just play mushrooms throughout campaign, and accumulate negative traits by just sitting in same position for hundreds of turns.Also, outposts are generaly on chokepoints and important roads, so forts would be built on those position anyway!
    When I invade a territory, I have main effort army, and smaller support army to deal with forts and military outposts.even sieging forts take them out of main settlement battle, so you don't have to actually take the fort, just siege it.
    Actually I kinda like outpost and forts system!

    I just hate that every AI faction has forts full of troops in every damn region, so doing siege to a town takes longer as you have to siege first their fort. Really annoying

      What?? Tht's what AI is for. You have full of troops then your enemy you wish just having smaller numbers than yours? You mean? You want a dumb one AI? Maybe, just for you. Not me. I like my enemy has same numbers on mine so it's a challenge for me on how I win in that situation.

      Not really. They run out of ammo rather quickly and there's many ways to ensure they don't do as much damage.

    How do u SHOW your prosperity bar like that there? Mine isnt there unless i go into menus. Also is there a way to change the day light system while your in a campaign? I cant find it.
    Also i think sieges need some kinda overhaul. Irl sieges had soo many more units and took days and months. There should be a system where ypu can encamp and keep going at sieges bringing in more units for both sides and changes tactics. There could even be more mechanics like sabotaging either team during the night. Idk i think it should take a lot more time/rounds. More intricate and fun. Adjusting during each day with both sides suffering loses of resources. Sieges are BIG things. In tw it feels like a mid gimmick.
