For Horde I had a couple of tweaks to add. Don't leave Barrens until 185. At 125 head to Camp Taurajo as there is a skinning trainer there for you to learn next level of skinning. After this head south towards Dustwallow Marsh, grind near the entrance to dustwallow marsh until you hit 185. This means less travelling. Once you are done fly back to Camp Taurajo and learn next level of skinning from trainer and head to Tanaris. When you get to Tanaris head directly West towards Un'Goro and then South until you get the path down to Un'Goro. Skin everything you see on the way but if your main goal is gold, focus on the scorpids as they give Scorpid Scale, which is needed for one of the Leatherworking quests and is profitable. 300-330, the ravagers on the border with Terrokar Forrest is really good as all the mobs are close and can be AOEd. When you go Nagrand farm only clefthoofs if you want money, the ones to the west of Gurodar are great as they give heavy clefthoof. Extra Tip: Skinning panthers, tigers and crocs in Zul'Gurub is great if you are max level and have good AOE, they are all grouped together, you have no competition and won't get ganked if you are on a PVP server. Skinning crocodiles in Black Morass is also a great spot for the reason I just listed above.
*FYI* EVERY new player needs to pick up 2 of the gathering professions ASAP (Herbalism, Mining, Skinning). You will be able to level them as you level your character with minimal effort. Mining & Skinning will require a tool to gather your materials. You can sell the materials gathered for $$$ in the auction house. You can also swap one of them out later if you want to pair a gathering profession with an associated crafting profession.
Good vid. I'm wanting to go double gathering in Wrath Fresh, planning on skinning and can't decide on herbs or mining for my second. Any thoughts? Rogue, if it matters.
I'm so late for this, Scott. But as a rogue (atleast for pvp) I would totally go for Herb as you get Lifeblood. It can also be used while stealthed which is pretty neat. Mining only gives you +40 stam at 450 rank, so that's not as cool as selfhealing every 3min. And I believe you can farm herbs for one hour, and then ores for one hour and end up with about the same amount of gold on most servers.
actually a great guide - worked like a charm for me
Indeed 👍!
