Photoshop Trick for Removing Backgrounds & Keeping Shadows Intact

Hey there, today we're going to be learning a quick and easy way to remove backgrounds and keep the shadows in Photoshop. First, we'll start by duplicating our background layer. Next, we'll go to the 'Select' menu and choose 'Subject'. This will automatically select the main subject of our image.
From there, we'll add a layer mask to our subject layer. We'll then duplicate this layer and invert the mask. This will give us a copy of our subject with the background removed. To make the shadows look more natural, we'll set the top layer to 'Multiply' mode.
Next, we'll use the 'Hue/Saturation' tool to lower the saturation and add a 'Levels' adjustment to lighten the highlights. With the brush tool, we'll paint over any unwanted areas to perfect our selection.
Finally, we can add any background we like to give our image a new look.

Can the background you add at the end be no background (transparent) by turning off the background?

Sorry not useful. You are not removing the background. Your shadow isn't transparent. It can't be used as a PNG.
