The Elven Rings of Power EXPLAINED | Lord of the Rings Lore | Middle-Earth

  • The Elven Rings of Power are among the most fascinating artifacts of Arda, for these Rings were created by the Elven smith known as Celebrimbor with the help of Sauron's knowledge. Though Sauron never touched these rings, they were still bound to the One Ring and through their powers the Elven leaders such as Elrond, Galadriel and Cirdan maintained their timeless lands in Middle-Earth. What powers did the three Elven Rings have? How did Gandalf acquire one of them? And what happened to them after the Ring's destruction?

      Question: which ring would you want to have? Assuming you could use it’s powers to it fullest ability (Excluding The One Ring). I’ve always loved the look of the Dwarven Rings but aside from how it looks I wouldn’t want them to make me greedy, I would pick Narya.

      Maybe everyone should have noticed when Gandalf was given the Elven Ring and not Saruman that something wasn't right with Saruman... Or maybe that slight against Saruman is what led him to betraying everyone.

      The 3 Elven rings had no Sauron's influence but they can still feel its presence - Like the 1 ring bearer can feel the power of other ring bearer. Its like a detection or a beacon device. If the users wear them. Luckily the Elves didn't wear them otherwise they'll be detected. They're wiser than the drawves & men.

      @@MikeSmith-od5sl probably nothing since the elven rings wernt touched by Sauron and also even the other rings had different effect on different races, dwarfs got greadier but didnt fade away to spirits. Question would rather be what would have happen to an elf that would have worn one of the other rings?

    What would have happened if Celebrimbor and the Elven smiths had not realized Sauron had made the One Ring? They would keep using all 19 rings and Sauron could read their minds and manipulate their thoughts. What would Elven smiths do and what did Sauron plan to do?

    • @GeekZoneMT
      @GeekZoneMT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @meduseldtales3383 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GeekZoneMT Exactly, so I'm wondering what did he plan to do with them. As a Maia of Aule, Sauron had an obsession to order and discipline. Did he plan to use the Elves to create some kind of beautiful but twisted utopia, like a massive gated community, where everything was built in repeating geometric forms, and people would look the same and act the same, or what did he have in mind?

    • @christophersanchez7731
      @christophersanchez7731 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sauron’s Ultimate plan was to bring peace and order to Arda
      He felt Eru and the Valar set their creation to fail as free will would cause chaos and conflict without their guidance
      Sauron felt they were like neglectful parents and he had to step up and take lead
      He plotted to use the Rings of Power to unite the races of Middle Earth by controlling the leaders of the Races via the Rings of Power
      His ultimate goal was to dominate life so he can rule Arda as a God King in peace
      Had his plan succeeded then the Elves would have became Ringwraiths too under his control making it more possible for Sauron to fulfill his goal

    Another great video! My only minor critique is that it was only the elves of Eregion, and specifically Celebrimbor and the other members of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain, who were ensnared by Annatar/Sauron. Gil-galad, Elrond and Galadriel were suspicious of him and refused to have any dealings with him. They warned Celebrimbor not to trust Annatar/Sauron but he was ensnared by his desire to be as great a craftsman as his grandfather Feanor.

    In 1917 Tolkien located a man in Finland, who he was told, had a song passed or taught to him whom he had no one to pass it on to. Tolkien then recorded this song and started to translate it, which is now the Silmarillion.
    I heard this listening to Coast to Coast AM Radio in '98 or '99 during one of Art Bell's interviews with Sir Lawrence Gardener. I did go to his web site at the time and found the story of the Silmarillion. Since the book reads like an historical narrative I believe this to be true. Sir Lawrence Gardener was a fellow Professor with Tolkien, and was an Archiologist/Paleontologist who had discovered crypts and runes in northern Scottland that were ancient Aelvin. Which in my opinion could have very well been "the undieing lands" to the west of Middle Earth.
    If anyone knows more of this, please, add in.
    Interesting stuff huh!

    In the Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, during the convening if the White Council, Galadriel just showed up without being noticed and also left without saying goodbye! At some parts, during the arrival of Gandalf at Dol Goldur, Radagast was given an instruction by Gandalf to inform Galadriel. It seems to me that Galadriel has the power at will to disappear and to appear as the need comes, and to the intention of the one who needs her help, as shown in her words she gave to Frodo.

    Could you make a Video on sarumans ring.
    I reread lotr and came upon the scene in which gandalf tells the council about sarumans betrayel in which it was said that saruman had a ring on his finger and it is (At least in my Copy) implied that he crafted it himself. I would like to hear your thoughts about it.

    Hey dude, I'm reading the Silmarillion for the first time and was wondering about this part where they are talking about the different elves that did not heed the call to go west. There were illusions made to how these elves established themselves as they stayed back for different reasons. It almost seemed to me like the group that did heed the call were referred to as high elves, another group that dark elves, and a third group almost as water elves. There were differences described in their looks (hair and eye color mostly) but I was wondering... Do you think these elves could be physically different to the point of what we know of as "dark-elves" in the modern context. Or what about these grey-mantled water elves... What do you make of this?

    Galadriel wasn't just enchanted about the sea, she had wanted to return to the Valar for centuries, she had that falling out with the Valar and had banished herself to the Middle-Earth but time healed the ways between her and the Valar and they invited her back to Valar once the one ring was finally destroyed. Also, Nenya was no longer powerful so it would not have made her long for the sea it would have been diminished so it wouldn't influence her anymore after that.

    I wonder if Sauron was the source of power for the Rings (Elven), not the One Ring itself. Sauron linked himself to the Rings of Power and they drew on Sauron for strength. Sauron linked to the One Ring, which linked to the other Rings...

      Sauron is no way connected to the 3 elven rings.
      It got its virtue perhaps from the Vala but not from Sauron
      As the video stated, Sauron is all about dominion of all things, the 3 rings didn't possess said quality
      The only reason he can manipulate the major rings(to some extent )is due to his One ring, The Master ring.
      But in order to do so, Sauron needed to keep it the Master ring (strongest ring) by using his own power

    Wondered why Sauron didn't go for Lothlorien when he perused the elven rings, though he having two elven rings would be nice if he succeeds in Lindon but Lothlorien was less fortified unlike Lindon. Maybe this just shows how powerful Galadriel was and how Sauron revered her

    I have a question about Saruman's death in the book.
    Saruman says that whoever strikes him shall be accursed, and that if his blood strikes the soil of the shire, it shall wither and never be healed.
    Then wormtongue stabs him and kills him.
    So how come the shire did not wither?

Perhaps I should have gone with chronological order but looks like I followed the same route as most. I sort of feel like Saurons obsession with finding the Elven rings pointless. Cant dominate the owners of the rings if they aren't being used. If he found the rings it isn't like he could just pick a different elf to wield it. I suppose there are Elves that might take a ring until they saw what happened to the 9.
