none of them was sick. Hwasa was singing more nasally back then. it wasn't a flu that made her sing nasally. this is how she sung. type on youtube search: "Hwasa Vocal Analysis". the video has several clips where Hwasa sings nasally like in Killing Voice. was it her choice to sing like that? did she regress? i don't know, but she does sing nasally and it's not cause of flu.
this version is autotuned. type on youtube search: "Mamamoo Killing Voice raw unedited" and the unedited video of their Killing Voice should be the 1st result. i'm not saying that they can't sing live, but it's obvious that the version that was uploaded on Dingo youtube channel is autotuned. that's why they sound so good. in shows like Killing Voice, Sketchbook, King of Masked Singer(which is a singing competition), etc it's hard to find actual live. everything is autotuned when it's broadcasted or uploaded on youtube, etc sites. if you want to hear live you have to be there in person.

Moonbyul recently won a competition show called Second World. Where rappers compete against each other as vocalists. She was pretty amazing. MMM just released a new mini-album in October. And they are working through Asia right now on their world tour. Songs are Illela, 1,2,3 Eoi! and L.I.E.C all of them are fantastic.
The girl you guys liked a lot is solar. She is the belting queen and she's the oldest of the group. She has some solo work like all the other Members of Mamamoo. I would recommend "Spit it out", it's her solo debut and "Honey" her newest one i think.
She also has a youtube channel called solarsido, where she does a lot of new challenges and tries to learn new things. She's very fun to watch.

It's been admitted by solar herself that she struggles with a lot of wheeins songs cause they reach a note too high for her to do consistently (even Wheein struggles with some songs, and it's an inside joke that wheein will avoid singing some of her songs cause they are so hard to perform on the fly). Wheein carries a vast majority of the difficult notes, and solar is in charge of power and high belts. Wheein has more stability in lower octaves and higher octaves while solar outshines wheein in the midrange to high but powerful belts. Even in I Miss You, solar primarily does the power high belt (the climax of the songs, and why she stands out, but the members have said in MMMTV, that I Miss You is actually a wheein focused song (she does 2/3 verses and finishes off the belt sets at the end).
Ultimately it doesn't matter cause 99% of moomoos are OT4 and we love all of them. So it's weird seeing my first solo stan toxicity after 9 years being their fan

When it comes to mamamoo we don't need to fight or choose for who ever the ace in the group is. They are all aces. Other members can do what other members can do. They are strong as a group and strong as a solo artist. Each one of them is different in terms of vocal style/tone and personality/over all style but that what makes their group so good. They've been called or there is a term for them which is "belismamoo" meaning just believe and listen to mamamoo. Because their every performance is sure fire and all you have to do is seatback listen and enjoy.
You can call Moonbyul "Moon-star" as well. In her song "eclipse" she makes a kind of word game with her name and the word "monster" you should check this masterpiece out.

Moomoos have answered your questions and provided more info and I'll try to add a few details. Solar is MMM's leader and has the strongest, loudest voice and she usually does the high note belting in the group so I don't blame you for calling her the ace of the group. However, as a number of people have said, Wheein is considered to be the Ace of Mamamoo because she's practically perfect at everything she does and she does a lot of different things. Besides being the rock of MMM's vocal line she's in high demand to feature on other artists' songs, she's done a bunch of OST songs for kdramas and received an award for being one of Korea's ten best OST singers, she's an artist who designed many of her tattoos and painted the cover art for a solo album as well as a painting featured in one of her solo MVs, she learned how to play the drums in a short time window for her solo stage during MMM's major concerts in 2019 and killed it, she was the first member to sing a #1 hit song as a soloist back in 2017, etc etc.
Dingo hosts two series - Killing Verse for rappers and Killing Voice for singers. Ikon appeared in the Killing Verse series. Killing Voice started off featuring solo singers and Mamamoo was the first group to be invited, which makes sense since they're considered to be the premier female vocal group in kpop. This is their first and only appearance on Killing Voice. In the beginning when they were talking about coming back after a year they were referring to their comeback with a new album after a year where the members had been focusing on solo projects. Each member has a successful solo career and when Solar finally made her official solo debut a few months before this Killing Voice performance in 2020 Mamamoo became the first group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group was sill active as a unit.
If you want to try to keep up with Mamamoo it's best to subscribe to their channel, tho that's only going to show the tip of the iceberg. As someone else mentioned, in 2022 they recorded and/or performed over 50 new originals and covers including group, solo and subunit songs, OSTs, and features and collabs with other artists. They also made a bunch of appearances on tv and radio as hosts or guests, they each have their own youtube channel, and Solar made her critically acclaimed musical theatre debut playing the lead in Mata Hari for a 3 month run. MMM has always been one of if not the hardest working group in show biz and they show no signs of letting up despite being in the game since 2014. They're currently doing a world tour as well as continuing a busy schedule back home. Hwasa recently started hosting her own tv show called The Hwasa Show, Solar & Moonbyul announced they're working on their next subunit project as Mamamoo+, and Wheein is starting work on her next solo album.

Fun fact about the Dingo Killing Voice segment. Originall there was only "Killing Verse" which showcased rappers. Mamamoo's ace is wheein but the whole group is all rounder. They all have good vocal supports, Moonbyul is known as rap princess 2nd best female rapper in kpop and besides her hawasa raps too all of them can and their stage presence is strongest then any kpop girl group. Having all of that they are still underrated.

Moonbyul is 1 of the weakest rappers in Kpop. Mamamoo are not a group like Blackpink that make music that fits rap so Moonbyul has to match her rap to fit the groups music and the result is meh. i don't like her as a rapper. i like her more as a singer. she doesn't have good cadence for rap cause she has to match Mamamoo's music. go listen CL rap. 2ne1 are also Kpop and CL was part of 2ne1. With an album, Solo albums, collabs, covers and OSTs they released 25+ songs in 2022 alone and this year during their world tour they are have dropped a couple more covers, collabs and the mamamoo+ subunit coming soon. Their most recent album is an EP with 3 songs 1llella, 1 2 3 Eoi and LIEC. Great songs. They all released solo albums last year. Solar, Moonbyul and Wheein all have youtube channels, Hwasa doesnt produce content for hers. Solar's has been around for years so she has a whole lot of content, and just a day ago released a video with a 3 songs for her Birthday, one of which is a cover of Frankie Valli, cant take my eyes off you. Yeah they do new stuff, every year.

At some point, one of you said they're underrated. I heard that, unlike idol groups in general, they're very well respected within South Korea. So less international recognition, more hometown respect. I'm not sure how Mamamoo feels about it, but I found that fascinating.

They are amazing!, They have released 2 ep's and a compilation album after aya, one is a very emotional ballad about the time they spent together and their journey as artists, then the compilation one came out as a celebration of their 7 year aniversary (alot of kpop groups disband after 7 years), and then the most recent one is a very catchy sexy song.

(like recently RM was in a show and they titled the video something like "we ask RM about the taxes" -- no, they didn't, but still, they did talk about money in a way though)
