    I get what you're saying about Parker and quality control. I'm in the process of rebuilding a Grady King Fish. No glass or resin on the stringers under the floor. Keep in mind that the Grady wasn't a inexpensive boat in 1978. Great video. Thanks for the content.

    This looks like my 19 grady white weekender I did. Cabin stringers always seems to hold up. Tack on some sister joints and work on back. Wow and I am thinking about getting a Parker Pilot house... Maybe I will stick with my SeaFox no wood. Those stringer dont even look like they are glassed they should have been capped. Good luck I will be following.

    Can’t wait for the next video. What are your plans as far as replacement materials? I have a similar project that I have gutted and am ready to start the build back.

      I am using Kay-cel board and Vinylester resin. I hope to post the next video I a couple of days. I have the transom back in and plan on starting the stringers next week.

    Massiv job😵 💪👏👏👏
    I'm from Sweden and we only have summer three months June July August
    had the boat been here, it would have been in a hurry if the boat is going in this season

      I commercially fish this boat 12 months a year. I grouper fish year round and stone crab from October 5th to the end of April.

    I have 95 2520DV Pilot house, redid the tank, nothing looked like that. My boat spent 20 years in the water thru long island winters. Alot of shoveling and ice. Knowledgible people comment that boat is built like a brick you know what. That is an older model, cant' speak for the new ones. Most Parkers are GOLDEN

    • @TrentonKnepp
      @TrentonKnepp  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are heavy as bricks as well due to all the wood. My local boat trailer rental business refuses to rent to parkers due to their weight.

    Were the battery boxes glassed into the transom and deck? Or were they not? They look like a structural part of the transom. I can't tell on mine 93 MVSC 2520

    • @TrentonKnepp
      @TrentonKnepp  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Alex-lh8pm they were glassed to the transom. I Put them back in the original place for strength more than anything.

    30 year old boat.
    You fix it, you know what you got. You go get a newer used boat...you don't know what you got.
    Best of luck

    I love your trailer wheels, can you share the model ?

    • @TrentonKnepp
      @TrentonKnepp  ปีที่แล้ว

      They were on it when I bought the trailer. I believe I saw some like it on the "sturdy built trailer" website

    Seems like in the old days of wooden boats, we were better off before boat manufacturer encapsulation the wood with fiberglass, hiding it from easy inspection. They just rot from the inside out. They were easier to inspect and repair back then.
    No matter how much epoxy you slap over the wood, water will eventually invade.

      That's why I used all composite products for the rebuild. Zero wood

    Wow I can't believe that didn't sink I heard of boats getting waterlogged I never seen it I bought a key west in 2019 they said the only wood on a key west is if somebody walks on with a toothpick in their mouth I bought it I looked at Parker soon as I seen the wood I said no way I had plenty of boats in my life that had wood they all end up like what you're dealing with even today Parker still uses wood but when you're done you don't have any worries

    • @TrentonKnepp
      @TrentonKnepp  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is absolutely no reason for anyone to still be using wood at this time in history. I will never buy another parker till they get with the times.

  • @primetimefishing2436
    @primetimefishing2436 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow. What a shame. I would redo everything. I would not leave a match stick's worth of wood in the boat after going through all that hard work and time.

    • @TrentonKnepp
      @TrentonKnepp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will be wood free from the cabin back. The cabin is in fair shape so I am leaving it alone. If it does get soft in the future, it would be an easy fix compared to what I am doing now. Just don't have the time, money or will power to touch it now.

    • @primetimefishing2436
      @primetimefishing2436 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Advanced Crab and Seafood I figured it would be easier to just do all of it at the same time. Since you have it all open. You do not ever need to go through the hassle ever again. Lifetime hull then.

    Parkers are expensive and suppose to be good. Too bad their quality is so poor. You have more patience than i would have in this situation.

      I was only planning on doing the deck and fuel tank. After I opened it up and had around $5k in supplies I didn't have a choice. I don't have enough money to get into another boat. Noaa has been killing us financially for a long time and sucking every last drop of blood out of us.
