There is something pleasing and natural about this more 'simple' but nicely saturated look. In some ways the modern games look better but also more artificial at times..

Modern games try to fake, mimic, photorealism and here in RBR it's literally photorealism just with simple geometry, super immersive and yet easy to run for GPU.
RBR for the win ! Now imagine having little motion blur for the replay and it's even more great !
Oh yes, RBR. Probably the only game that lets you run a top line WRC car at your local national championship/ERC stage and just dream what it could be like.
