Feel like we're in lockdown at the moment , it's minus 5 outside at midday, so it was great to find this podcast. Not getting out as much these days but listening to you both makes me want to fish on Sunday, if it's on. NuFish fan and GGMU
Great to see another coarse fishing podcast. Got to agree with the number one pet hate. I don't get the negatives at all. Carpers hating bream, traditional anglers calling carp "mud pigs". People calling commercials easy etc. I like the variety of all kinds of angling. After a few sessions of blanking and struggling on natural venues it's nice to go to a commercial fishery or higher stocked lake to get a bend in the rod and give you confidence back in your tactics before retrying similar tactics on a natural venue.
Absolutely loved this first debate video. But something I'd like discussing is the closed season on rivers. Where as alot of our canals that you can fish in close season have locks that lead onto the rivers. Now CRT say the locks are kept open 365 days a year, unless the rivers are in flood. So hyperthetically when the locks are open into the river in the close season, then that canal is the same water as the river and visa versa, the same spawning fish can swim up and down the river and canal when the lock is permanently open. So why then do we have a close season..
Enjoyed the video. The red maggot discussion: When I was young my friend and I used to fish the Grand Union canal near Kilsby Northants and back then it was remarkably clear with only the odd barge to worry about. Chuck a handful of colored maggots in and you could watch the roach and perch feed and they ALWAYS took the red maggots before anything else. I live in Atlanta, and often fish two rods( and get into a heap of tangles as a result) and some days for example the carp feed almost exclusively on my red raspberry flavored corn and next to nothing on the other rod with (say) yellow peach flavored corn. Next time it can be the exact opposite and so for me it is the challenge of finding what the fish want and how they want it.
Hi Mick and Joe. Over a period of 65 years or more fishing so many disciplines its fair to say that fishing for me became a science. Theres so many avenues or spinoffs from your chosen method of enjoyment you can indulge yourself in, i.e species, habitats, flora and fauna, atmospherics, Sea, Game, Match or pleasure fishing. So what im saying is i suppose is to anyone, just keep an open mind but ultimately enjoy what you and what everyone else choses to do
A very enjoyable and agreeable chat, thanks gents. I enjoy all your content and various types of fishing, including….. fly fishing! 😱 I’ll get me coat…
Love my fishing and enjoyed most types over the years, but in my 70s now and just fish a regular commercial venue where I enjoy the company and open matches. Very enjoyable chat gents👏👏
Breath of fresh air thank you both, fishing will always amaze me you can sit a peg away from your fishing pal with same rig one sacks up the other struggles totally logical but happens, that's what keeps you going ( the challenge )
Cracking video great genuine chat keep up the good work👍 I was brought up on the rivers chub and barbel fishing, trotting a stick ir waggler on the tees, swale, ure nidd ,wharfe Ouse and Trent and bread never let you down😍🎣
Very good chat from you two, i look at it this way all comments count to the Algorithm and is good for your video's good or bad, as long as it's clean, we all have are Favourite baits and fishing methods, i've had someone say to me i've got all the gear and no idea, i just say but i have won seven Matches ??, Nothing big but that doesn't mater, my channel is doing very well, Thank you Joe and Mick keep them coming,
Nice chat lads, totally agree with you on criticism, each to their own if you don't like what others are doing tough. You ain't got any right to criticise.
Brilliant idea (not new) and fantastic content ! Well done. I understand him because I'm also a cross-bred between a specimen and a match angler. It's built in me. I just put aside my specimen part some years ago because I caught the match fever again for the feeder. Talking about the podcast formula, it's quite lacking in my French-speaking countries and it's completely absent from Belgium, where we speak (try in fact) 3 languages.
Good discussion. Ignore social media opinions. People are still struggling on how to handle a platform that enables them to express an emotional, rather than rational, response. It’s still a relatively new outlet and we’ve all got to learn to be more mature and more thoughtful before hitting the post button. Stop, think and post 👍
As Joe knows my passion is the river Thames and the last five years the winters have been a complete waste of time because of the flooding. I still enjoy listening to the match guys because even in my advanced age I can learn from the dark side (match side). Looking forward to more discussion on general fishing topics with the no nonsense Mick Vials.
Excellent podcast ,as always. You two put information across very well. Some very interesting points you both spoke about and some food for thought . Looking forward to any river close season debate , which I think has been very out dated in this country for several decades. Scrap it and let's fish on the rivers every day of the year , that's my opinion.
Very good and watchable conversation. As Mick said, every days fishing is different, what makes you decide which method you start with upon arriving at your peg, especially when the first half hour can be crucial?
Great chat lads. Just packed the van after a week on the Hampshire Avon at Fordingbridge. 7 days fishing dawn till dusk, BLANkED. Totally unfishable, flooded running super fast and snow melt. Not the best 😂, Tight lines boys, Enjoyed the vid
I used to be an out and out riverman for many years years but now with pollution and constant flooding those days have gone for me and also getting old doesn’t help so commercials for me now. Great podcast keep it up lads. 👍🎣🎣
Another brilliant video guys. On the subject of bread. My thoughts are that the fish smell it, taste it. In carp fishing salt and yeast are massive attractions. So bread is just that. Next, my fishing back ground is silver fish fishing. I learnt to fish on a local estate lake. Itvwas roach, skimmers and the odd tench. It evolved and became an amazing bream and tench water. I've had some amazing days sport over the years. My best been 200lb of bream. I do occasionally fish commercial venues, which I usually do ok on. But I love silvers. And finally, I've just ordered some Detexion line in 4lb, 2 elastics and some bungy straps. Nufishbproducts are brilliant. Hope it all goes well for you Mick.
It just jealousy. I'm not the greatest angler 😢 but I love my fishing, I don't go for any particular spices I just love catching fish and I hate blanking 😂😂😂😂. Yet I watch all tubes vlogs/videos and always give a 👍 because I realise the time you guys must spend on making and also if I can pick up a couple of tips that help my that's even better. Keep it up guys 👍👍👍👍👍👍
People will always have an opinion on something or other, I've had situations where I've walked away from certain people and venues because of disagreement or a comment that may have been taken the wrong way. Interesting video and enjoy what I do at moment fishing wise.
You could pick any subject, not just fishing, and you will always get these keyboard warriors that will moan about something, unfortunately that’s just how it is. These people don’t get how much effort goes into making videos, it costs for one, time and effort that goes into editing etc etc, you do all that hard work for some jerk to … watch the whole thing and then takes the time to moan and pull apart said video, it’s just ridiculous. I love Joe’s stuff, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet him on the bank at decoy, and he chatted to me and my mate like we had been friends for years, just a great bloke, one of the boys and will talk to anyone. I will always watch joes stuff because I learn so much from his videos by the way he talks and describes what he’s doing. Top man with a Top boss. Thank you guys for fantastic content.
I packed in match fishing because I got bored of carp a net full of hard caught silvers i enjoy more. But I enjoy all fishing now like tench fishing barbel fishing and predator fishing in winter plus odd day going for specimen roach
I should have been doing something else for the last 50 minutes, but I ended up watching / listening to you 2. Much better, more fun and infinitely more interesting. Is this going to be released on other platforms so that we can listen to these on the way to / from our own fishing adventures?
Whether you agree with someone's opinion or you don't. If you want to go on social media platforms and can't take constructive criticism, don't go on there. You quite happily take the rewards from your content, so don't expect people to always blow smoke up your rear end.
well done guys just started watching love nufish content Joe is the best media man in the fishing industry followed him for years also im not a fan of underwater boring tbf
Yep fishing is fishing, the principle is almost exactly the same wherever you go I've fished many commercials as most watching have and watched people struggle while the rest of us are bagging so if it's supposed to be a carp filled puddle and easy why aren't they catching , you can have a poor or average day on a commercial if the fish are not havng it so yes I'll say it again fishing is fishing
hi, my name is Per Hjerrild from Denmark. I love watching your and other fishing videos and podcasts. But since I only fish in Denmark, I have problems buying all the nice fishing gear you are talking about. I can't buy it and get it to Denmark can't find any shops that will send it to Denmark Regards from Per Hjerrild.
The only negative for bread for me is it's durability. The longer it stays in the water the weaker it gets and a lot of the time I don't have confidence that it's still on the hook, especially when fishing punch directly on the hook on the whip or pole rather than on hair rigged on a feeder.
@@catalickconverta6823 I'm not saying it isn't but if I put a pellet or wafter in a band or a maggot on the hook I know it's not going anywhere until I get a bite. Over time bread degrades and can be nibbled by smaller fish until it just pulls off the hook.
@@FISHINGMINTY you can fish bread in all diffrent ways if you got 1 of them speed stops on squeeze the bread around it like a boilie that works wonders with a spot of goo on it
Fishing today it is pretty much like the RC hobby, in the sense that 20 years ago only the truly passionate folks would do it. In now days every elbow licker can walk into a store , spend 200 quid and get a ready to fly airplane. The community has grown exponentially but the overall quality of the people you met will be severely diluted to put it mildly. Same goes for fishing...
Why not talk about the decline in youngsters coming through the ranks and tackle shops in decline.... Let's try and sort out the future of angling???? Also cormorants and otters zander, all these are killing fish stocks. This weed which is now all over the country and nothing is being down this affects pegging and eventually boaters will be stuck
Re; whingeing/negativity. I watch lots of course fishing videos on TH-cam and try to only leave positive comments. I'm not particularly interested in specimen carp fishing, sea fishing or fly fishing, so I don't watch those videos. It's not difficult to only click on videos which deal with your own specific fishing interest.
Fishing is fishing , floating bread or boilien bashing pole or whip, if your catching fish your fishing, i think people get upset because they cant catch fish from these so called carp puddles ahhaha

Totally agree with you Mick. If it doesn't suit you don't do it, but don't criticise others for their own choices.
Great podcast,.

Why nation wide, fish spawn at different times.e thought the country, earlier down south later up north. Totally bonkers.

Bread catches the most fish world wide its made from pretty much the same things as pellet ground baits and pellets ect all wheat and barley blends

What's your opinion on all these new sites that have sprung up. Buying tickets for a prize?
