Excellent mini interview and it is great to see Martha smiling and opening up with her charm, beauty and elegance. We have the highest respect to her as to the "Queen of the Piano" We all wish her good health and happiness through her amazing life and carrier.
So did Kissin, so did Wang. I think there is something of an innocence that all these top musicians shared which makes them open and honest. Perhaps this innocence, beside their virtuosic talent, is what makes their music emotive and touching.
aaah, she certainly is very tuned in to humans when listening to whom inspired her. Mentioning the old Maestros of composing shows how well she understands the artist behind the composition. This lady is one of a very rare perfect 'translators' the way she tells their stories with piano. And she is observant of the human race in that she does have a lot who inspires her.
Six languages not to get under bad influence.:). I admire her. Such a wonderful pianist! Ever tried singing opera? They say Maria Callas was a chemist not a physicist.
Martha and Yuja's interviews were the best. They have such funny and interesting personalities. I also think it's very nice that Martha places the cards down rather than drop them like most of the interviewees.
Who came up with this idea? I love this kind of interview!!! And Martha seems to enjoy it!!! The strange thing is that I've heard her in english, french, even portuguese, but in spanish just one time and she says to the camera: "Soy un Monstruo!!!" hahahaha!!! Señora Argerich, se casaría usted conmigo??? LA AMOOO
It is interesting and amusing that In this Interview (rather a presentation) she does not mention F. Chopin at all. Paradox is that her international career started with Chopin, and she plays his music probably the best of all living pianists today. (My opinion).
1:40 Luego de esa deliciosa carcajada explotaron miles de supernovas, nacieron trillones de estrellas, se fusionaron billones de galaxias y nació un universo paralelo nuevo...
Deutsche Grammophon has released a series of budget priced box sets of Martha Argerich. If you want to hear her play a lot of Beethoven, consider getting the one called "The Complete Duo Recordings" that is comprised of duets with cellist Mischa Maisky and with violinist Gidon Kremer. There are 13 CDs in the box , 6 of which are comprised entirely of Beethoven cello or violin sonatas. It's a great set and a great value (currently about $ 60 for 13 CDs on Amazon).
Did Miss Argerich ever have stage fright? Is her first perception of the piece thru sound.....not learning notes.....but sound? Does she think sound rather than notes? Did she ever write out a piece to remember the notes like other pianists have done?
@Drosophila Melanogaster So many pianists learn music through the written note - and the sound is an afterthought. How can you keep your focus on playing/sound...when you are always translating from note to sound. I've known pianists who actually write out the music to help them with memorizing. The Suzuki school of music has the student learning thru sound first, then the written note. The stage fright many pianists have I think is caused by this "not thinking of the sound first." I think Argerich has an connection with the sound first, and the note 2nd. I also saw one interview in which a roommate was learning a piece - and Argerich learned the piece from the other person playing it - with the errors as well.
She did mention that she'd like to meet Jesus Christ! Martha --- That's not hard at all, just accept Jesus as your personal savior and you'll not only meet him but be with him forever!!
Jesus christ is a real figure.tell me, do you not accept witness testimonies? But you do accept them to sentance a man or woman in court. How hypocritical. How immoral.
Graham Jeacocke So you accept UFO witness testimonies? Or of Bigfoot? Or of any other stupid thing? He isn't a real figure, a figure you can touch and talk to, to him you can't. You're speaking to air, and that air is with molecules, not Jesus.
+Kénan Zeljković a testimony does two things. Testifies that an individual is present. And secondly, what this individual did etc. the former is still true even if the latter is not believable. I am a law student. And i am telling you, you are prepared to accept a testimony to sentance a man to death. Why do you accept textimonies in court? The judge and prosecutor and defence were not at the scene. You rely on a wirness testimony, just like christisns rely on a witness testimony to verify jesus. Testimonies for bigfoot are probable. Secondly, we are not arguing bigfoot but Jesus. Haha. Each case is different.
Graham Jeacocke It's not about who is right or wrong, it's about who can prove it. In cases, the more witnesses on someone's side, the more likely for him to get a lower sentence/fine No one can prove God. No one can disprove God. I'll just leave it there.
+Kénan Zeljković i know you can not prove god u idiot but you can prove a man existed by testimonies.. jesus claimed to be God. If u have witnesses textifying they saw jesus alive, you have to consider it as being reliable. U are an idiot. We are demonstrating how a non believer accepts a testimony in a coury of law to punish individuals. You accept them as beibg reliable. But you have textified that teztimonies are not reliable for jesus for we were not in that particular time. Neither were u in the time or scene of the crime in court. But u are satisfied to sentance a mqn on accoubt of it. U are immoral.
+Aaron Petit She did all the violin and cello sonates, all concertos except no 5, the Triple Concerto, the Ghost Trio and the trio opus 11, one of the piano quartets, that's quite a bit of Beethoven!
Oh I see. I wasn't aware of that but I meant mostly the sonatas in my comment. The 32 sonatas are so important for pianists and the only one I know she did was Waldstein.
I wish any of them said something interesting like: "My favorite drug? Sex, I love fucking" But, unfortunately, this interviews are part of the promotion, not a display of honesty.
Her smile is so infectious. I'm sitting here stupidly smiling back at her from the computer screen.
Yeah! 11 years later, I come back to watch her again. She is down-to-the-earth, very genuine, and has the sense of humor....of course!!
Miss Argerich was, is and will be the goddess of the piano.
im glad to go to see her here in argentina on the next months
Goddess of piano, beauty and language.. she is truly an amazing person!
Argerich: I especially love Liszt, as person *repeats for emphasis* as a person.
This made me lol.
As a PERSON, which means possibly not as a composer. I do agree with her!
Still such a beautiful, radiant smile
“I live in different places so I’m almost never there.” LOL. Ms. Argerich is every bit as charming as she is talented. Well, almost.
Excellent mini interview and it is great to see Martha smiling and opening up with her charm, beauty and elegance. We have the highest respect to her as to the "Queen of the Piano" We all wish her good health and happiness through her amazing life and carrier.
OMG she's extremely enchanting. Why does this video has to has an end.
It is so cute how she took all those silly questions seriously haha
So did Kissin, so did Wang. I think there is something of an innocence that all these top musicians shared which makes them open and honest. Perhaps this innocence, beside their virtuosic talent, is what makes their music emotive and touching.
her "face" was adorable. i lOVE seeing her laugh!
It' s nice to see how she keeps her smile, the same since she was a Girl, an adolescent. GREAT MUSICIAN!!! ( Buenos Aires- Arg.) her birth City.
aaah, she certainly is very tuned in to humans when listening to whom inspired her. Mentioning the old Maestros of composing shows how well she understands the artist behind the composition. Shes such a doll I'd love to meet her
Could someone do this to Krystian Zimerman? That would be pretty epic...
+The Purple Moonwalker Best. Idea. Ever.
+The Purple Moonwalker wow I would like to see that!
cgchain has
Damn that’s the most brilliant idea i have ever heard lol
Why would it be epic? *excuse my ignorance i don't know much about him yet*
Martha is the Queen of Piano. So cute here.hehe
She's precious!
Martha and Yuja's interviews were the best. They have such funny and interesting personalities. I also think it's very nice that Martha places the cards down rather than drop them like most of the interviewees.
you are Queen Martha!! your music takes me over the world!!!!grazieeeee!😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤❤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Interesting personality and great talent. I love martha.
wonderful personality, charming genius.
Love you Martha so much!! Very charming goddess!
I love her! I like how she said she likes Italy...I saw her in Italy when she was adjudicating a piano competition. Quite the personality!
Keep going, Miss Argerich 🎹👍
So sweet :-) Love you Martha!
so charming
She is so sweet!! 😘❤💝 And so knowledgeable.
After having cancelled a concert in Verbier, it is nice to see her disposition. She is so amusing in her calm days!
calm days? what were the other days?!?
2:33 Leonard Bernstein!!! ^_^\m/
You go, girl!
she's toooooo cute!
n she mentioned Schumann 3 times!
"Music critic", brilliant answer.
She's irresistibly charming, even though she doesn't know to hold up the pages straight...
LA AMOOO
She was interesting & loved to give so many honest answers to each enquiry in a humorous way showing her real personality.
It is interesting and amusing that In this Interview (rather a presentation) she does not mention F. Chopin at all. Paradox is that her international career started with Chopin, and she plays his music probably the best of all living pianists today. (My opinion).
And yet she stated that her relationship to Chopin was a difficult one.
That's probably why she didn't talk about him in the interview.
Music critics:)
I just love you so much, Martha!!!
Monísima! Te quiero, Marthita!!
she is absolutely beautiful and charming.
Pan Tiffany
Argerich is amazing.
She would like to have dinner with Jesus Christ and Schumann. Fabulous!
The world greatest pianist, ever seen!
a genius who thought of doing these WallCasts! their personalities show through and through.

Goddess!
She ROCKS!!!
I love you my pianist Grandma 👵
I am in love with her
very impatient ... loves Schumann ... that is me :)
1:40 Luego de esa deliciosa carcajada explotaron miles de supernovas, nacieron trillones de estrellas, se fusionaron billones de galaxias y nació un universo paralelo nuevo...
I love her!!!
Que hermosa sonrisa!!!!!
I was expecting she would mention Mischa Maisky since they are so close. well i see maisky often mention martha a lot 😂🤭
Does anyone know what the question was at 3:28?
tan hermosa
Saw all comments 😍
Martha sei grande grande come te sei grande solamente tu kiss
Nah, I really think conversation IS Martha Argerich's favorite drug. I know people like that.
How hilarious would have been if she answered second question like:
Crack.
😆
I'm in love w herrrrr
Matthieu Escande is the wallcast man!!!!!!
La tour de Pisa.
Proceeds to lean on a side to throw away the question card.
Favorite composer: I thought it would definitely be Schumann!
omg she's sooo cute hehehehe
Hey... we have the same favorite word (and world) ;)
i like her french accent
Funny she would say "conversation" as her drug....I heard she spends hours in a day on the phone. What an interesting person XD
I found out i have very similiar hands to her. I’m learning the piano and my piano teacher told me so. ^^
@OriginalBasaliskos Me too!!! :)
theres something about schumann huh
@johncao2 She said Beethoven. I'm kinda bummed she didn't mention Prokofiev :P
Jesus Christ, Leonardo DeVinci... uh, and Shcumann. EPIC LOL!!!
Hmm thats So Epic...
It's as if her personality knows no age.
@callinkermit Probably the phonebook question."Who's the most famous person in your phonebook?" something like that. I'm just guessing though...
Beethoven is her favorite composer and yet she plays so little Beethoven.
Deutsche Grammophon has released a series of budget priced box sets of Martha Argerich. Her version of Waldstein is incredible though
Es una "matriarca" de la buena música....
@fapestar I honestly expected to hear something like Prokofiev .
Did she say Bartok was her favorite composer?
OMG she said Merde!! xD
Eres hermosa Ms Martha cuando te podre conocer ?
the last one.. making face.. =)
Maisky, Terikanov chose italy as well
I think she never performed on stage the 4th concerto of Beethoven :-(
Wait a minute, she not even mentioned Chopin... hm, hm :-p
"music critics" ahahah her face says it all!!!!
Fuck the critics!!!! Lol
What artwork dose she say she would be?
The Tower of Pisa, lol.
she looks insane! omg close your eyes, the sound is really scary!
SPAGHEYTI

So we not gon talk about how she said “ shit shit shit” in French no ok
What's her favorite curse word ?
Ab fab!
honestly she didnt need to put up with the sloppy production of this segment
She did mention that she'd like to meet Jesus Christ!
Martha --- That's not hard at all, just accept Jesus as your personal savior and you'll not only meet him but be with him forever!!
Amen! Just be praying for her that she’ll eventually meet Jesus Christ the Chief Musician!🙏✝️
no need to worry, she's a Jew, so she will for sure meet him :)
@@pixnist thank u, I hate proselytism. Can people understand the difference of identity ?🙄
Martha Argerich make face
@justtish7 of course, she doesn't like stupid people who waste her time; exactly ones whose make comments like yours
tappe*
3:16 I think they mean historical figures... real people.
Jesus christ is a real figure.tell me, do you not accept witness testimonies? But you do accept them to sentance a man or woman in court. How hypocritical. How immoral.

job never wanted?music critic,lol
Beethoven? Favorite? She has hardly recorded any of his music!
She probably plays Beethoven in her own time, like how others favor Bach but do not dare record any for fears of criticism.
Evangeline Elias Agreed! :)
Su primera impresión musical fue el Concierto nº4 de Beethoven en manos de Arrau.
+Aaron Petit She did all the violin and cello sonates, all concertos except no 5, the Triple Concerto, the Ghost Trio and the trio opus 11, one of the piano quartets, that's quite a bit of Beethoven!

you can tell she likes sex by all the other answers ;)
Yeah, but I don't like having to guess.
She does not know what she is talking about.
Somebody, please talk to her about the wonders of hair dyes.
why? she is almost 80 years old, she was about 70 in this inteview... she may have her hair however she wants.
Somebody should talk to you about the wonders of a functioning brain.
