  • Meet Amit Kumar Saroha, a 4-time Paralympian, Asian Para Games medalist & World Para Athletics medalist. In 2008, Amit played hockey at the national level. However, a car accident in 2008 left all his 4 limbs paralysed. He was confined to a wheelchair, shattering all his sports dreams.
Inspired by an interaction with a para rugby player, Jonathan Sigworth, he decided to pursue para-sports. He tried discuss throw and this became a moment of rebirth for Amit. He competed and won at the Discus & Club throw internationals in two years. In 2012, he became the 1st Indian quadriplegic to participate in the Games. The Asian Para Games became his next milestone, where he secured two medals in 2014.
Building on this success, he earned a World Championship club throw medal the following year. Securing a spot at the Rio Games marked his second appearance at the event. After a break, Amit returned to the 2017 IPC World Para Athletics Championships, achieving a personal best throw and clinching a silver medal in club throw. Winning at the Asian Games became a tradition with his gold medal victory in 2018. He continued his success with a 3rd place finish in club throw at the Asian Para Games in 2022 and 2023.
He is not only a sports champion but also a role model for people with disabilities across India. He has coached and inspired many Indian para-athletes like Dharambir & Ekta Bhyan.
He has been with the foundation since 2015. With the support of our partners, we have provided him access to competitions, physical and mental training, and injury management. As he prepares for his 4th Games, we wish him all the best.
