Such a balance of control & spontaneity while making it look effortless & fun!
Probably worked with Jerome Robbins on it.
So light on his feet. Makes it look so easy and effortless but all these moves are in fact so difficult.
Misha brings, among his other great qualities, a lightness that I haven't seen in other performances of this solo. A truly amazing artist! How lucky we are that this clip exists. Thank you so much for posting it!

I came to this after reading an archived article from Vanity Fair, about the long collaboration between Leonard Bernstein and Jerome Robbins. I come away from it feeling whimsical and weightless, a gift (while sequestered at home during this pandemic, March 2020) from Bernstein, Robbins, and the incomparable Baryshnikov.
Alhambralions, this lockdown has me searching for all things Misha. Think I’m good for quite a while, a lot of videos spanning his long brilliant career.
Have never seen this one. Thanks for posting.

Thank you so much! Compared with Bart Cook's solo, Cook's dancing is more lyrical, even introverted, while Baryshnikov's is more showbizy, a mix of breeziness, seductive slyness and innocence. And style, of course. Who's interpretation is more like John Krisza's(sp?) the creator of the role? Don't know.
Misha looks great , but I'm John Kritza really did this dance proud. I wish I could tell you what the difference is in approach. Kritza's subtleties in the dance made it much more moving a piece.
