Actually it was 5head that goku gave cell a sensu. Had he not he would have killed gohan rather then play with him which ultimately gave him the time to unlock his potential. Goku knew gohan could destroy cell once he tapped into his power. The sensu bean would have made no difference regarding whether cell was fatigued or not. One punch to the gut basically brought cell to his knees and made him throw up 18 none the less whether fatigued or not. The only difference the sensu made that I see regarding the outcome would be that it allowed cell to grow over confident. If cell did not get the sensu he may have just thrashed gohan so he could still have enough energy to finish off the rest of the fighters. He would have most certainly been more cautious anyways.

Either I'm the only one getting it, or I'm totally wrong. Goku gave Cell a senzu bean because he needed Cell to dominate Gohan completely so that there's no way for Gohan other than releasing his power. It sounds like a big gamble, but this goes back to the hyperbolic time chamber where Gohan begs Goku to hit him with the biggest kameha wave. Goku hit him with a wave much more powerful than Gohan's normal untapped power could handle, this broke Gohan's ceiling. That was the proof that Gohan would unleash his power against Cell when he was pressed enough. But after his fight with Goku, Goku wanted Cell at his max. If not, then Cell probably would not be strong enough to unleash Gohan's power. In short: A weaker Cell was stronger than Gohan with untapped power. But a Cell with full strength could awake Gohan's power, whereas a weaker Cell would have beaten Gohan. Ironically Goku was giving Gohan the advantage by giving Cell the senzu bean. A similar example is Jiren overpowering Goku so much that Ultra Instinct is unlocked even before the projections Whis had in mind. A weaker Jiren would have just defeated Goku.
Goku gave the bean to cell cause he knew gohan could still defeat him even at his bestt , he just wanted gohan to have faith in him(cause during his training he saw gohan had the greatest potential) . Also gohan was supposedly going to be the mc for the ahead of show but people riot for goku

Trunks is the 2 smartest character in the show. He has his mother’s genetics. He also grew up in a time where he seen all of his loved ones die. Goku did not until he was grown. Vegeta seen his father but his pride and ego clouds his judgment. Piccolo has the same instinct to finish off opponents but he can’t due to the plot making him the weaker fighter.

Actually it was 5head that goku gave cell a sensu. Had he not he would have killed gohan rather then play with him which ultimately gave him the time to unlock his potential. Goku knew gohan could destroy cell once he tapped into his power. The sensu bean would have made no difference regarding whether cell was fatigued or not. One punch to the gut basically brought cell to his knees and made him throw up 18 none the less whether fatigued or not. The only difference the sensu made that I see regarding the outcome would be that it allowed cell to grow over confident. If cell did not get the sensu he may have just thrashed gohan so he could still have enough energy to finish off the rest of the fighters. He would have most certainly been more cautious anyways.

Goku gave Cell a senzu bean because he needed Cell to dominate Gohan completely so that there's no way for Gohan other than releasing his power. It sounds like a big gamble, but this goes back to the hyperbolic time chamber where Gohan begs Goku to hit him with the biggest kameha wave. Goku hit him with a wave much more powerful than Gohan's normal untapped power could handle, this broke Gohan's ceiling. That was the proof that Gohan would unleash his power against Cell when he was pressed enough. But after his fight with Goku, Goku wanted Cell at his max. If not, then Cell probably would not be strong enough to unleash Gohan's power. In short:
A weaker Cell was stronger than Gohan with untapped power.
But a Cell with full strength could awake Gohan's power, whereas a weaker Cell would have beaten Gohan. Ironically Goku was giving Gohan the advantage by giving Cell the senzu bean.
A similar example is Jiren overpowering Goku so much that Ultra Instinct is unlocked even before the projections Whis had in mind. A weaker Jiren would have just defeated Goku.
Goku gave the bean to cell cause he knew gohan could still defeat him even at his bestt , he just wanted gohan to have faith in him(cause during his training he saw gohan had the greatest potential) . Also gohan was supposedly going to be the mc for the ahead of show but people riot for goku

If he has such a huge advantage like the dragon balls, he will use it. He’s actually smart and would probably be the most likely to survive if they were put in another android situation.
