    Thanks! I gotta say, I love the approach, pacing and delivery of your vids. Apart from that, I may be in the market for a driver. At least, I’m planning to see if I can improve the fit of my current driver. I’m not planning to get the latest and greatest, but I’m glad to hear confirmation that I’m not missing much.

    Andy.
    Great , honest video my friend. This is why i keep supporting you my friend…..no BS. Can I be honest with you and your viewers. I accomplished the same forgiveness and distance and accuracy with the G430 max at 12 degree, cut to 44.5” shaft …..with a Regular 50 gram KBS TD driver shaft. You don’t need to get new equipment to get the same results. Cut down your shafts a bit, do a higher loft head and it calms down spin numbers and it makes you hit the center of the face more. You can do it with any driver you play. Just saying.
    Keep up the great work brother.
    Jay.

      I was in the same boat but was in waiting on Andy’s review because he has a similar swing speed as me, most the reviewers have 100+ club speed and someone with 90+ won’t see much gain with most Drivers. Getting fit and the right shaft is the way to go.

      The Max and Max 10k are for different golfers. If you fit the Max, it's a great driver, keep it. The 10k is better for faster swingers, and is providing extreme stability with lower spin, something not really available. It legitimately is something of a Unicorn for fast (110+) swings. Go try it, just don't buy it unseen, but it really does offer something new for the right player.
      No offense, but I don't see Andy as being the fit for this, he's more of a standard Max guy. PING don't normally offer things randomly, this is an extension to the G430 line, not a Max replacement. Different clubs, and very different from G400 Max and G425 Max, mostly in spin profile.

    I didn't golf much from 2005-2020 and when I got back into the game, I took a year or so to check out the advances from my 25 year old clubs and getting some fittings from the various brands. I retired my Big Bertha Warbird and got the G425 when it first went on sale for $399 usd. I'm loving my G425 (including the sound), no need to go chasing the latest and "greatest". I'm sure I'll have many years of driving enjoyment with the G425. Excellent video!

    Good honest review. At the end of the day strike is king. A great swing on an older cheaper club will always outperform a poor swing on the latest and most expensive club.
    Also the Ping G400 was an extremely forgiving driver as well.

    I’m approaching 80 years this year, and opted last year for the Ping 430 Max in the HL configuration meaning, a longer lighter weight shaft (35g), light grip, and 11g backweight. If this model hits the 10k mark, I don’t see a compelling reason to go for the new 10k model. This was confirmed at a recent comparative fitting session. The results were the same. I like the backweight adjustability and the ability to change the weight if the package is playing too light, or moving from fade to draw. The fitting was interesting especially trying an inch shorter shaft, higher loft, and the flat position on the shaft in the 10k. As Andy says, get fitted. My suspicion is that now that Ping has optimized MOI at 10k and owns the forgiveness space, the next release will be a bomber…Another stellar post Andy.

    Andy, I really appreciate your reviews of these new drivers (clubs) because the average Joe can truley relate. My club head speed is really similar to yours so I can learn a lot from your content. Most of these othere guys are at 110 mph or higher so we as average guys cant relate. I did see that Peter Finch has put the 10k Ping in his bag for this year. He said it was a low spin rocket launcher that had all the control he needed as well. Maybe they missed the mark for us average guys and found the market it may need to be in. Once again thanks for what you do pal and keep it up.

    Here's a controversial hot-sports opinion...I think the shaft weight, length (shorter usually) flex, flex-point, etc. is more important than the head design (don't misinterpret, the head design is important!). Get a shaft that fits you.
    Most might benefit from a shorter and heavier--yes, heavier!--shaft to more consistently deliver the clubhead to the ball. It's far more important to hit the club in the sweet spot...then the MOI doesn't matter nearly as much. Could be one (of many) reasons most of us hit 3-woods (or even 5-woods) better than drivers.

      Manufacturers really have a problem given size and moi restrictions. The blurbs they come out with are really quite funny. I play Titleist clubs which at least, in general, come out every 2 years. I buy every 2nd model so every 4 years and even then 1 year after release. I am fortunate that it is not to do with cost, simply there is no need to do otherwise.

    I think the reason for the fixed weight is that it has to be in that position to achieve the 10k moi. Forgiveness improvements can only really be realized over a season or more of play. It's statistically tiny and can't be seen in a few swings.

    • @rufussthoo4083
      @rufussthoo4083 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It also has to remain at the whopping 28g. If you swap it out for a lighter weight, you reduce the MOI below the claimed 10k, and hence the 'forgiveness'. It certainly won't be a fitter's best friend.

When I did my fitting I was seeing consistently more distance with the 10K vs my fitted G425 (232 vs 245yd carry) and then also between the shafts (242 in Alta CB vs 245 in Tour Black). My dispersion was notably tighter with the 10K and the biggest thing for me was zero right misses with the Tour Black.

    I currently game the G430 Max with a custom shaft that came by way of a high quality PING approved fitting experience. I looped back to my fitter when the G430 10K became available to give it a test--just in case a benefit existed. There were differences but not any that benefitted me and the state of my game. First and foremost, the G430 10K had slightly higher spin at the same stated loft than my G430 Max and a little less in overall ball speed and distance but nothing significant even with my custom shaft installed. The G430 10K did perform slightly better on high toe strikes and I was able to hit more consistent high cuts but the differences were very small and surely not ground breaking. Besides, I thought the G430 10K delivered a little more impact sound. The overall results of my test was: I am sticking with my G430 Max as is, thank you.

    I suspect that forgiveness only makes a significant difference for very good golfers. I have a very inconsistent swing, I either hit it well or make a mess of it. No club tech can help my technique, I have tested this by borrowing clubs - if I am having a good day with my clubs I can hit anything, a bad day ... forget it. I have an old-ish Ping driver and I can usually hit it to my own personal satisfaction on the course - I would not dare change it.

    For me, bought a LST - too low spin and too low launch. Tried Max, too high launching and too much spin (with standard shafts). 10k is perfect launch and spin. Again, that was for me. 10K is another option for the golfers that it fits. Ok, here is a comparison that we all ( I ) need to see you do.
    The PXG BLACK Ops Driver vs. The Ping G430 Max 10k.
    I was always a Ping player until PXG came out with Gen 4 and 5.
    My whole bag except wedges now is PXG, wedges are still Vokey.
    However, I always keep my eye on Ping, I grew up on golf over 40 years with Ping.
    Would love to see you do this comparison.
    Thanks Andy.

    I appreciate your honesty Andy. I'm still playing a G400 Max in 9 degrees and every time I have put it up against a newer driver the difference has been so minimal that's it's not worth changing. the G400 Max was a 10k (or near as damnit) anyway so how much more improvement can there be? I just need to optimize what I have currently and hopefully I won't need to change for quite some time. I went to a Ping fitting last year. The fitter took one look at my G400 max and basically told me not to bother with the new one as the numbers would be virtually the same which they were when I hit it them on Trackman.

    The new 10K model is head and shoulders above the 430 max, and the difference is well worth upgrading. The 10k is not only more forgiving but produces less spin and 10-12 yards longer for this 4 handicapper.

    I’m with you all the way Andy! This is basically like splitting hairs at the expense of the buyer. A big expense. It seems like the adjustable driver should be the one to cost more money, yet this theory is reversed. I would buy the regular 430 max with the adjustability it will definitely make no difference on my golf game. I can use that extra money for other stuff and the 430 max is already way too much money! Like all the other new clubs out there we have to sell our houses in order to buy them. No thanks

    You don’t swing fast enough to truly benefit from the 10k version. For faster swingers having 400-450 rpm less spin is a game changer. The fact that Ping figured out the 10k MOI with low spin is the story here.

    10 k lower spin with same forgiveness. And sounds better than before allegedly. I think the faster swing speed players could play this and gain more forgiveness. But the average golfer maybe won’t see much difference.

  • @rickygreenslade7399
    @rickygreenslade7399 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Well, the 430 max is draw biased. And with the weight to the heel, even more so. Therefore, a good fit for you. And for most , probably, seeking a super forgiving jumbo driver. The Max 10k is lower spin and not so much bias. Almost like a 430 LS - Max combo. Not really sure how much sense that makes …

    Andy, on the dry ball data I would love to see you delete some of the slower shots on the 10K model to make sure that your swing speeds match. Then you could look at efficiency metric like smash factor, and have an apples to apples comparison on carry distance.

    • @TheAverageGolfer
      @TheAverageGolfer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Smash factor applies to all swing speeds? It’s better to see performance across a number of those speeds because in reality that is a variable on the golf course imo 👍

      @@TheAverageGolfer you are right, smash factor does account for slower swing speeds but the carry distance and spin numbers will change. When you are doing a club versus club comparison I just like to see the data where the swing speeds are matched.

    I’m a cat 1 golfer & the difference I found was spin. The 10k is better suited to your better player. It’s forgiving with a lot less spin than the max. I game the G430 LST that’s the best one out of the lot. Fade bias sits a lot more open. The 10k is like in between the max and LST. All hcp could game the 10k. It’s a great driver. They all are. The max is just too spinny. High launching.

      @@2sqnbandit379 I'm guessing that's because 'better players' generally have higher swing/ball speeds? We all know higher speeds produce higher spin rates (all else being equal). So the Max may be better for HC golfers with lower speed (say 110mph), that need help keeping spin down to prevent ballooning. So perhaps Ping have just made a 'forgiving' driver for the 'better player' instead of focussing forgiveness purely on the Average Golfer 😉. Just spit-balling.
