Hard to believe 5years and i enjoyed every minute of viewing a team of 2 very dedicated hard working parents building a homstead for their family. Mahalo
Rest the back Jeremy, the older i get the more often my back goes out now, it lasts longer and the pain is worse .
A good chiropractor has always help our family to make it through the painful back problems...they are excellent when you cannot stand up straight from my personal experience.
💯% true. I'm on the heating pad now lol
Yin yoga and a good osteopath
Stone is classy and pretty BUT wood is comforting and calming...very homey ❤
I agree, In a smaller room, raw feature wood walls placed on an angle would be a nice combo with a shiplap ceiling. Facing in the opposite direction to the slant of the internal ceiling. It would then balance the view from the large feature window.
I always really impressed with how hard you work and how much you've accomplished. You've built the life you want. You're giving your kids a great childhood.
That pony is a wild child! The addition is looking great! Excited to see it all finished!
😂😅
Your place looking beautiful ❤️
Happy March Souza family! I can't believe it's been a year already on this build - it's unreal how time flies, but Gabby is coming along great. So nice to know that someone is willing to invest the time & patience for little dynamo Whiskey ... he'll be a good pony once he's trained. I'm also glad nothing was wrong with Lexen. Hopefully the rest will help Jeremy's back, but how is your knee doing after that kick? Hugs to you all and of course a few scritches behind Kenji's ears from me. Here's to another productive week and I'll be waiting patiently for next weeks video.
Jeremy, please try red light therapy on your back, it's amazing.
Wow!! 4 years and look what you have achieved and built, you have come a long way and not only the build also animals that you have added to the farm. You certainly can be very proud of what you have there,
GREAT VIDEO!! WE ALL NEED HUMOR IN TALKING ,, WORKING SO HARD.. HOUSE ,HORSES ,, AND BACK ACHES,,.. YEAH YOU GOT TO LAUGH.. TAKE CARE YOUR A GREAT FAMILY...
My wife suggests board and batten or vertical shiplap. Either would add texture to the room while drawing the eye upward. You indicated you wanted the apartment to be different from the main house, so for that reason you might skip stone or dark wood on this build. Everything looks great so far and we are excited to see the cabinet and wall choices.
I think stone would look great on that wall. If you do shiplap I think a darker color then walls would be a nice accent as well. Horses are sure a lot of work, I love Eli the cowboy!
You guys should take pride! You truly are an American model and modern day pioneer. It’s sad that our young people today don’t have a family model like you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amen. ❤
Won't be too long, maybe a few months or so, before the interior is complete and maybe by the end of the summer the exterior will be done. Have you ever thought of giving your 'compound' a name? Exciting times for sure. Be well Souza family and God Bless each and every one of you!
Your farrier did an awesome job with Whiskey.
That farrier is a blessing. I don't know too many that would deal with a feral mini!
Has it been 4 years already? I started watching about then - when you all moved. And got to see some of the instructional videos on the rabbits (which were interesting and educational. And I’ve had pet rabbits). Love the channels and all you are doing. You all are an inspiration - and I respect so much the minimal showing of the kids.
Thank you for being with us all this time ❤️
My goodness. The views from your windows in Gabby... STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gosh, I didn't notice, I've been watching your channel for long and will continue to do so.
I spent years building my house, shop, then barn.Did 99% solo, over 7000sq.ft.12' walls on majority. Then fencing etc, planted 100+ trees. Now im thinking I might have to build home with my son in near future .Might go log on that build. If got about 20 years on you guys, still in my forever home
As always great seeing your Saturday morning video.
It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since starting the gabby build.I love watching the progress that takes place each week. All the hard work and love shows in how well it looks.
You guys are amazing.💕 Take care of your back.
Every week I wait for it
Gabby is coming along really well, don't over do it and hurt yourself more. Glad you are having the horses settled down and have a better routine to keep them calm. Don't want to take the Cowboy out of Eli, he's doing so well and trying so hard. Good to see everyone involved around there, stay safe and keep up the fun too. Fred.
Main wall in living room would look nice with stone and wood. Something light in color to keep it bright. Same with the ceiling. Keep it light colored 😊❤
I think you should go with ship-lap. Of course, Jeremy should have an experienced ship-lap installer show him the tricks, so a perfect time to have Chip and Joanna visit. 😁
You have a talent for telling an ongoing story, and it holds our attention, and we look forward to the next segment. Exposing your kids to the outdoors is the best thing you can do, with all the animals, helping with a little construction here and there, etc., will make them very well rounded. I also think that your homeschooling is a very good idea, especially with all the crud that is being taught in all levels of education these days. Thank you for just sharing 20 minutes here and 20 minutes there. I am not very mobile at this time, but I am very excited about eternity, where God promises us that the meek shall inherit the Earth. May God bless and guide you and your family. Russ from Arizona.
Good morning, your Gabby is coming along very nice. It will be a beautiful space to have. One thing you sure can’t beat your setting with the beautiful mountains all around you. I think you have done fantastic for only being there for four years, it all looks fantastic. ❤️❤️👍👍🇨🇦
Just don't put them on video
It's hard to believe it's been a year since you started this project. You truly should be proud, of all your accomplishments. Every now and then I will remember some insignificant moment from 50 years ago quite vividly. I think now we definitely have to cherish every moment. Have a great week.😊
Cowboy Eli didn’t give up, he was just done with his lasso practicing for the day! The quest for perfection is never ending. Don’t stress you back, dude. I had back issues to the point I couldn’t sit, stand, lay down, anything. Chiropractics saved me. My physician told me I should probably have surgery, that’s the only way to fix the issue. I started seeing a chiropractor and frankly it took a while and with adjustments and his instructions as to exercise, the issue seems averted, that is if I don’t do something dumb. Great video, as always. Keep them coming and God bless y’all!
What do I say to you guys? You are doing such a great job and it's coming along so very nicely. At the same time your family is being very well taken care of and given top notch importance. I do have to mention how much I love your picture windows. You could just sit there and enjoy that view all day. The finishings you are planning sound gorgeous. The ceilings will be fantastic. The stone finishings, if you chose to go that route will fit in perfectly too. Thank you so much for this video. It was a pure pleasure to watch.
Was that a bunch of wild turkeys? Your skies are beautiful there. Whiskey is a little stinker, 😂 🐎 I love your family so much. I hope Jeremy‘s back gets better. Melissa you’re so funny.😆 Have a good week.
Sweet video!
It would be so cool if Eli had an opportunity to get some roping lessons from one who truly knows the Ropes in this area! Learning young the right way is best before forming unknown Habits.. The Junior Rodeo organizations have clinics often.. Or found someone who is willing to help him. He has such a passionate heart for the Cowboy Lifestyle! Good for Eli🤠
Inspiring and thoughtful musings at the end, per usual. Made me say “huh!” with a smile. From another homeschooler up north. 💁🏻♀️
Gabby, the apartment build is beautiful! Your are blessed to have each other as a Family😍 And Jeremy, Take care of your back! I’ve seen where you built your storage/garage, and every building has unfolded before our very eyes on your compound. The building of your home the siding in the windows the antler chandelier that just fits beautifully in the kitchen. The pantry your gardening, your horses. You have done, and shared with us❤. Maybe someday you’ll be able to stop and really see the accomplishments you have made. And especially your travel time vacations and with family.. thank you for bringing us all along with you, and especially the charity work that you’ve done for children and their families . From our family to yours. ❣️
I like the idea of a shiplap wall to tie it in and keep the place light and bright.
Watching the weather report this morning it looks like Idaho is getting slammed with a severe blizzard so it's amazing to see how beautiful it looks in this video. I'm sure this was filmed prior to the storm but I'm praying you all are surviving with the terrible weather. My family in Montana, Kalispell, is getting hit really hard. Be safe! Wonderful video as usual.💕
Incredible work you've both achieved over 4 years💙💎💖...I still continue to enjoy watching you build, although relentless for you at times Jeremy🫣 but it won't last forever & luckily, you're in your prime💪🌟 Melissa you are beyond wonderful as a woman & a mother😍 So much love for you as a family. Catherine. UK, England 🇬🇧 xXx
Ooo look forward to all ur videos Sending love from UK ❤❤❤
Good morning Souza family Jeremy hope you feeling better .wishing you all a blessed weekend
Thank you! You too!
Ask the kids what they want on the back wall. Good progress
Pretty shortly is a real phrase Melissa. We use it all the time. If someone is coming right away, it is proper English to say they will be here pretty shortly...at least in Canada it is an accepted phrase lol. Gabby is looking great with so much of the drywall put up. I hear you on the burnout thing. By the time I was done my renos last summer, I didn't want to see another contractor or a piece of "building material" for another year. We are getting new windows and a new furnace installed shortly and I am not looking forward to it, BUT, the finished product is always worth it. I hope your back gets better soon Jeremy. Maybe take a full week off and see if that helps. As for up here, we are bracing for a major snowstorm that will start late tonight and carry on through until Monday. They are calling for high winds, and a foot of new snow which ultimately means huge drifts to contend with for my plow. Blah. Come on spring! As always sending love from our acreage to yours.
It’s looking really good. As usual Jeremy is doing a great job!
That mini horse is a piece of work! A beautiful morning to say goodbye to your little horse. Horsey tough love? Interesting.
Be proud of your accomplishments. You have many.💕
Living room window wall in Gabby. I suggest kepp it simple. It is a small space, tge shipman ceiling will be a great feature, & the window with the beautiful view is fantastic. Simple paint tge wall same color as rest of tge space. Less is more in design.
Gabby is looking great! I hope Jeremy's back gets better soon!
As for the wall I'm thinking some type of stone may look good!!?
I'm glad your horse is ok! Sounds like Melissa has work cut out with his training.
Its always a pleasure getting a video from my favorite TH-cam family the Souzas! Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful week!
Happy Saturday Fam, whoa, it's been a year already. Time does fly by so fast. Because it does I hold on to little things that make me laugh and warm my heart, tightly. Have a good week and weekend. ❤❤
GREAT JOB AND GREAT FAMILY VALUES BE SAFE GOD BLESS YOU ALL ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
I never get over the beauty of the mountains behind your pasture. Absolutely breathtaking.
Melissa, your closing remarks always go straight to the heart!
Every spring I would give each horse a review of ground training. It helped them transition from having time off to going back to work. It also helped to refresh my understanding of each animal and observe where problems were that needed work. While I'm sorry Eli got bucked off I'm glad he didn't get hurt. Knowing how to handle those events is an important part of horse knowledge. Lets hope that doesn't happen again.
Beautiful photography! Opening shot, full moon, wild turkey flock. Great! Bless you guys. ❤
Thank you 😊
Hi all, so glad Lexen is ok, Gabby looks so different with the walls complete, can just imagine with the roof. Jeremy look after that back. Thanks for sharing your time with us all ❤❤
😊 thank you
You two are truly amazing...to be able to accomplish so much in only 4 years! Congratulations :)
Thank you so much!
May the lord bless and protect you and your family and working on the homestead
Thank you kindly
Hell Yes !!!. You two, amazing as ever. I thought of something fun while I was watching. A time capsule.... right? A fun little box in a wall? Everybody could do one. Anyway, love it all. Blessings.
Haven't committed in a while but just wanted to say how proud I am of all of Jeremy's and Melissa's hard work. Even your children are learning from the two of you. Your work ethics are a wonderful example that if you want something you have to work hard for it . Congratulations on a year of accomplishments and passing on your experiences to your beautiful children 🤗💓💕💞
The stone sounds really cool for the accent wall. Especially if the stones are rounded. Contrasts with many straight lines.
Congratulations on crossing the 500K mark!
Getting on so great with Gabby, well done both of you 🫶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. Glad your horse situation is improving too 🫂
Awesome job Melissa and Jeremy on your life! Yourselves, children and all the work you do on your land. Look forward to Melissa’s words of encouragement every week! Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Yes!!!! New video!!! Yahoooo the highlight of my weekends ❤
Yay! Thank you!
MAKING PROGRESS, HAVE A BLESSED WEEK AMEN.
Thank you! You too!
❤Another wonderful video. I look forward to seeing the progression of everything from the gabby build to the horses to just general life for your family. You all have done so much and come so far. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. ❤
Thank you so much!
The apartment is going to be Wonderful - with a Fantastic view. ❤
I think a vertical grey barn wood look would fit in well as the accent wall.
Looking good guys, you're inspirational!
Good Morning familia Souza🎉
Good morning!
I like the idea of stone on the wall. It warms it up and gives it more of the cabin feel!
Can't wait to see the finished apartment! I would go stone. It looks beautiful in your home. Whiskey is definitely a handful. Jeremy i hope your back gets better soon, more excuses for hot tub time! Have a great week!
Hello and Happy Saturday, from Vancouver Island, BC Canada, Have an awesome day..
Highlight of my Saturday!!! Love your family, how you raise them and all your hard work. Y’all are so special! Thanks for sharing the journey!!❤
Thank you so much!!
Just love Saturday morning and your videos
You're the best!
I agree with the last statement you made. If we wait to pay attention until we have a birthday party, a wedding, a reunion, a school event, etc., etc., then we lose everything that really sets our family dynamics and the preciousness of our loved ones. A story read on a random day, a water fight on a hot summer day, etc. are the things that really make us tick. Love you guys!
❤️
"Our Place in Idaho" a "MIMI" Series Western. Love this channel. You guys are amazing :) Place is looking fantastic, it looks and feels like HOME.
A Norman Rockwell Picture. Thanks for bringing US [the extended family] along ❤💯🙏
You are indeed my favorite youtube family. I hope the beauty of the mountains never grows old for you. You have done well these past for years, and I look forward to the years ahead and the spoken words of wisdom!❤
Wow, thank you! ❤️
Very wild, literally, having your Christmas, Easter, AND Thanksgiving dinners walk through your property at the same time. LOL
😆 🤣 😂
Thanks for the visit..
A whole bunch of bits n pieces...and Voila!
A masterpiece of a
visit!!
Thanks!!
🤙🧙♂️🐺👍
Many thanks!!
@@GoodSimpleLiving
U all are quite
welcome !!
🤙🐺🧙♂️
Very exciting to see the progress on Gabby. Keep up the amazing work with the build, animals & family life.❤
Jeremy is in the background dancing, trying to tweek his back again...one way to get out of hanging drywall. Use a hole saw for the round cutouts.
PS i forgot to say, i really like your commentaries at the end, it is like a mini journal filled with wisdom, and focusing on what is important and the things that are just not that important.. :) Tell Jeremy hey for us :)
You two are an awesome team! Absolutely incredible what you have accomplished
Is the stonework you are talking about the same as in the house? If so, yeah, I think that would look great in the addition. Is there going to be a wood stove or a heater? I can't believe that it's been 4 years since you started building all your live in spaces. Time flies. Love the video this week Melissa.
Thank you so much 💓
Thank you for your videos! I look forward to them each week!!praying fir Jeremys back to not hurt and fir Melissa's knee to heal and and not cause pain! I respect you two so much as parents! You both are doing an outstanding job with yiur family!
Thank you so much!
Congrats on the drywall! Happy you figured out what Lexan needed 🎉
Great progress, Jerome, considering you have bad back. If you fit out Gabby like your main building, it will look so good.
Love from Mike. ❤
I see progress every time I view your video’s - you guys are on the path for the completion soon - love gabby !! Have a great week - love ya more!!
Thank you! You too!
Love ….love….love…. Your family..your videos….. watching you all accomplish all that you have since you moved to this beautiful state that you built your forever home in! The view from your windows are spectacular! Can’t Believe you guys are almost to the fun stuff on your apartment build! I’ve been watching since the beginning and it has been an awesome journey to watch! So happy for you all …. I always look forward to your next video or podcast… God Bless you and yours!
We had a father/son team build mainly the foundation and structure of our house and we did the rest. Our house is a 1 1/2 story Colonial as it's cheaper to build up than out. We did drywall, laid floors, painted, and other odds and ends. To save money we didn't finish the upstairs for a few years. My husband carried an 80 lb sheet of drywall up the stairs and heard a pop in his back. He ended up having surgery for a herniated disc which gave little relief. After years of always staying busy, he is now pretty sedentary due to constant back pain. You're being wise by taking a break and resting your back. You have a beautiful homestead and family!
Hello, I always watch your videos but I never write to you before. My name is Flavia, I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina, I'm a profesor and single. I'm also building my first and only house in the suburbs of La Plata city . It's been almost 3 years since I started and I'm still long way to go. Mainly because I don't have any loan, only have my salary, and I'm renting, so after a few month of saving , I try to built what I can pay and also built what I can by myself, which it'sn¿t much, after 8 hs of work and with my limited knowledge. Also in my country materials prices increases by the day, so it's hard. But with the help with my Family (mostly my younger crother nad my older sister and her husband) and your inspiring videos, I keep going. Thank you! Go on with you wonderfull work!
👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽
Everything is really coming together!
One of the best parts of your videos besides watching you all get along so good as a family, is looking at the beautiful Mountain View’s in the background- God’s beautiful handiwork right in your own front yard!🙌🏻🩵
Lov e spending time with you & your family.... getting to experience such care, hard work, love & respect.
Thanks so much ❤️
Good morning! As soon as the video started this morning, I took a deep breath and just felt myself relax (it's the music, the visuals, and the words that make you think). You bring that gift to us each week. Thank you for that! "Why do our minds decide to hold on to random little moments while completely erasing others?" What a great thing to ponder. How blessed we are that you've decided to give us this opportunity go along with you on this journey. Thank you so very much!
I watch quite a few TH-cam channels and you guys are, by far, the most ambitious and determined team I have watched. Now I know everyone works at their own pace, and that is ok. I just am amazed at how much you have accomplished in such a short amount of time. You are an inspiration to so many. Thank you for sharing your lives with all of us. ❤
Good morning guys 🙋♀️
If you go with a stone product, make it a warm, lighter colour. It may be the accent wall, but if it is too dark, it will impact the overall feel and loom. I love you are doing!
I remember last year when you started on the new build and I groaned, “not again!” But you just kept working, step by step and look what a great structure! I use that attitude to work when I don’t feel like it. My motto is How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Blessings
I personally think stone would be beautiful with the shiplap,It will also make it brighter lighting!😊
For the Accent Wall..... Herringbone pattern wood!! Great job so far! as usual!
What about leaving the accent wall as drywall and allowing whoever the current tenant is decide to paint it in their favorite color!
Good idea
Personally, I'd save the bedroom area for a favorite color. I couldn't imagine a pink, orange, green... etc. color in the living room.
I think stone for the accent wall would be stunning since you will already have the wood in the ceiling, the stone would be beautiful with your country mountain setting
@GoodSimpleLiving .. I've watched your channel for over a year. The hardest working people I've ever witnessed. At some point you and your husband especially need a rest. With just your animals 🐎🐑🐕and daily chores, there's a storyline. A next chapter. Sending Blessings your way. 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️✝️
Making great progress on the addition! 😊❤
Thank you! 😊
So neat to see your sheet rock getting all finished. Glad you found a home for that spunky pony. Great video. 👍❤️
Wow, Gabby is really shaping up. Jeremy, ever try an Epsom Salt bath/soak? You do have the hot tub, so that has to help relax your back. You are so very productive! 😊❤
If you have an air compressor and a lance nozzle. Use it to blow out the drywall dust every hour in the chuck and vents. Same for your other tools. The dust is the cause of them seizing up. 👍👍👉👉Plus a good tip also is to open them up before storing a final clean out and oiling the bearings.
