It's funny, back in the 90's we visited Gatorland. At that time it wasn't doing that well and one guy was literally doing EVERYTHING....taking tickets, feeding gators, driving the train and then wrestling the gators. It was so funny !!!!
Man I haven’t been there in about 55 years. We have a picture of me holding on to one of those big gator tooth’s in the entrance when I was 6 years old. I’ve lived in Florida all my life and never have thought about going back. So much has changed. Maybe it’s time to consider going back.

My mom’s partner heads up a reptile rescue in Virginia. They have an alligator that was confiscated a few years ago and she is used by the rescue for events. They built a large enclosure for her in their garage. The past couple of years they have been working on bringing her down to donate to Gatorland, as she is now getting too big. But she is probably 6 feet (with tail). It’s funny that the first time I held a gator wasn’t while I was living in FL, but when I went to visit my mom in VA!

This is the best time to visit Gatorland , cause the nice weather, and the place is fun and very affordable for families. If you planing to visit in the summer , you need to came prepared cause the place is not that open so there is not too much freeze . A lot humidity, felling so thirsty.

Seriously though…I worked as a zookeeper at a small, rescue zoo in Austin, TX area and the worst injury that I saw during my time there was inflicted by a Capybara! Imagine a little bite from a Guinea pig and then multiply it by a lot and that’s what my co-worker got! So now I think that they’re terrifying!!!
