    Use a steel wool cleaning pad that you use to clean stainless pots and pans. It will bring those scratches right out.I use it every time I rebuild a hydraulic cylinder.

    We use zircunia (sp) 120grit flapper wheel on these ruff spots. Just go slow and easy and you can buff that rod out.
    So what was the final torque on that big nut.

    I just did this on a e55 and my machine is squaling trying to tram or use the hydraulics now. Topped the fluid before starting, did you have to bleed any air off?

    Bro that cylinder is fucked! The rod is scratched so your better off getting a new cylinder
