Love these square body '66-'67 Belvedere models...have a '66 with 383 and 4-speed in black. Gets alot of attention at car shows and cruise-ins with multiple first-in-class trophies and one best of show. Thanks for sharing this one!
A High School buddy of mine had the 66' 318 Belvedere. Coming back to Southern Maine from an Alice Cooper concert way up in Bangor, Maine with four people going 105 mph the whole way was no problem. In another case, same car, and crew, we hit a small dear going 70 mph on RT 295 while on our way to see the band Mountain, (radiator hose, replaced it) at Bowdin College. We made it on time and returned safely with a slightly messed up grill and headlight gone. I guess the bumper absorbed most of it. I hit a dear going about 10 mph and needed a new hood, one headlight, and the grill was totaled on my 69' Mercury Monterey. The dear I hit was a big buck, however, and my girlfriend puked about 10 seconds before the dear hit, she only had about two Miller Lites. I took her downstairs and washed her off after bringing her back to my parents house. My old man didn't believe my dear story until he picked dear fur out of the grill the next morning. The night started off good anyway, my parents were supposed to go out for the evening but changed their minds earlier so we ended up watching TV together with my parents upstairs. By 8:00 PM on a Saturday night I had a wreaked car, a sick girlfriend, and my parents in the house.
my friends mother had a '65 4 door dodge coronet,318, no pretense of performance, yet 6 of us piled in and maintained 110 mph for several miles on ohio 271. typical mopar!
I had the 66 “tan” Belvedere II 4 door sedan with the 225 slant 6 as my car in high school. You could work on it with a crescent wrench and a hammer. I drove it for 90,000 miles and only did regular maintenance. Finally the tranny started slipping and I traded it in on a Nova with a 350 Quadrajet. The Belvedere was my first car and I still have fond memories of it and the big back seat!
As a boomer who got his driver's license in 1966, this Plymouth Hemi of the same year was always my dream car. That it was so simple, almost mundane to look at, qualified it as maybe the ultimate mass production sleeper. And I mean ultimate.
My favorite muscle cars ever made are the 1966 Hemi powered Belvedere's and Dodge Coronet's. Biggest sleepers ever to come from Detroit. I'd love to see a MCotW episode done on a 67 Mercury Comet 202 with the dual quad 427 side oiler... probably the biggest sleeper ever made by Ford
I love the sound of those hemi cars, when will the brothers collection ever be open for people to see? I really want to see those charger Daytona's that you have shown.
There's nothing straight line mundane about the 66 and 67 Belevedere and Satellite. This is the same Year and Model that Richard Petty dominated NASCAR with in both 66 and 1967! He won 10 races in a row with the 67 Belvedere and more events than any other person in this car. So much for just being a good straight line performer at the quarter mile ... This car dominated and has SERIOUS race car performance heritage and bonifides!
My late brother had the 67 GTX Hemi and it was a great car. The only problem that I could find with it when I got to take it for a spin was that it just had a hard time to stop if you drove it like one does with a car like that. He had it just over a year and a half and unfortunately he totaled it street racing and that was that.
lol ive got the 225 /6 in my 65 dodge dart. In first gear it pulls nicely with that low end torque, but once in second there is no power left... 0-60 in 11 seconds on a good day! but man that 225 will run and run and run some more... incredibly reliable
Those 225 slant six engines are practically bullet proof. Those and the Ford 300 straight six are maybe the most reliable engines ever to come from Detroit
I had the 66 Belvedere II 4 door sedan with the slant 6 in high school. It got me around town on Friday night on $2 gas and the big back seat was great sitting on the levee with my girl.
@@lehampton1 those slant sixes were bullet proof. I had a 73 Dart with a slant six as a kid. I beat the living shit outta that thing and it just would not die
@@jeremythompson9895 All of the 225's I had were well-worn by the time I got them, but they kept going regardless. My '68 Valiant used a quart of SAE 30 every 125 miles!
I love the presentation. This yellow Belvedere II is identical to one i saw in PA one summer. It say it's my favorite mopar of all time. I'd love to have hemi 4 speed belvedere, from '66. Do you think a clone could be made today?
"Son, you notice that car over there?" "Yeah, Dad." "Of course you do, it's yellow. Safest color out there!" This Plymouth is the same color as a Valiant he bought in '68.
I'm 16 years old and I'm looking at one of these to buy. I confess that after this video I became even more interested. It's a sensational car, even more so here in Brazil because it's an imported car, creates an absurd value.
The video I just looked at stated that Plymouth didn't offer black or white cars in the 1966 belvidere. I purchased a brand new one (white with a black vinyl top)
People don't KNOW that Mopar offered a package for the slant 6....it actually ran in a Lower nascar series but was so fast that that the series failed. Slant 6 with the "Hyper-pak" Spanked 283 chevies ALL the time.
Well, I don't know. The man is, if anything, an automobile statistical library. I doubt he would have made a statement which could so easily be proven incorrect. You could get the race-ready Belvedere II 426 cross ram, twin Carters with headers in BLACK. However, I do not think the street Hemi Belvedere II came in Black. Now the Belvedere ( I ), Satelite, or Coronet may have come in black. But you know, colors were often specific to model, engine size, and trim packages.
I almost got the chance to buy my buddies 1966 Sport Fury, I like Belvedere's but the Fury is just a better lookin car...we couldn't get the deal done though before his exwife was awarded the car in their divorce...a car in which she gave to her new man, I kid you not....
I had one same but it was street driving car not your paid $ 1000 - it was all organil bought 8t a car lot won't find a deal like ever again witch I never got rid of ...
Why backup lights were not standard was beyond me. That was cheap. Why run over anyone if those magic lights ARE included. Paying extra to include such lights was worth the extra cost. No apologies for that input.

@@dicarlo57 I had a 318 in a 71 Dodge Boat (Charger). That 318 would pick the front wheels off the ground of that boat (Charger). LOL

Lol from a slant 6 you could put a hemi in it! Outrageous!
I think this is my favorite car yet. Thanks!
Very nice. Would love to hear that at Seven Grand. Everybody has these bad ass cars nobody pushes them for 20 seconds. For us knucklehead viewers
Always enjoy your humor and information. Thanks.
It's amazing to think now what the Hemi found its way into
Nice, and with the right number of pedals too.

Awesome sleeper.
I love the the boxy shape and color.
Woo-Hoo!!! Let's blow the rust outta those mufflers! Personally, I'd ditch the MSD and paint the coil black. But, that's just me.
Awesome! I laughed when he said Grandma's couch and curtains LOLOLOL.
That HEMI actually roars with power.

Yes clones can be made! No doubt.I know of a crowd that does that type of work in W. New York area.
custard treat with yummy hemi center! LOL
And other Go Fast Goodies!
By the looks of the rust blowing out when he steps on it, the car needs to be driven more. I’d like to volunteer to help!!
Do the Brothers have any 68' Dodge Cornet 500s? Would love to see it as not many around anymore. They had the 383 Magnum without R/T disignation

This Plymouth is the same color as a Valiant he bought in '68.
its rust coming out of the pipe if anyones wondering

what kind of rear end did these come with, dana 60?
4 speeds had Dana 60, automatic cars had 8/34.
Except for the color and 4speed it reminds me of "The Bank Robber" Hemi Belvedere I owned.
except for the Hemi emblems and badge, you'd have a sleeper !!!
“WOW”
damn thats beautiful
SWEET!!!!!
yes yes I do like it
A Dream on weels

The BROTHERS!!!! I just figured it out, the Koch Brothers. They are wealthy enough to assemble/maintain this kind of a collection. Mystery solved.
who are they? where does their fortune come from?
