These videos are a great service! What's ironic is that whoever watches them is probably here because they have already been through the experience, but I still found some great ideas so far. Also just nice to know I'm not alone. Thanks!
Hey Kevin, I'm happy to have helped. No one was talking and I was lost. I thought if I'm brave enough to share what I learned maybe at the very least other people would not feel like they are the only ones and it would help. Cheers, and wishing you great health.
It is also advisable if you have very dense or long pubic hair, REMEMBER to shave or trim your pubes. Because the hair can twist around the tubing and give you even more pain and discomfort.
Hi Tony! I can't remember which video of yours I heard it from? You said you don't have a have to pee sensation when you had a catheter? I'm feeling it quite often and it's not pleasant. I'm about 4 days in with cath.
Oh wow! I felt nothing and the bag would be full. Maybe both are normal occurrences or maybe it will change over time. I hope you don't have it for too long. I had mine for over three months pre-surgery. I was not happy but what could I do. Do you think it could be bladder spasms?
Idk I guess idk what bladder spasm feels like? I just know what have to pee feels like. Did you get burning sensation with weak flow to dribble and it made you to have to push and strain and cause you to have bowel movement before you had cath put in?
@@rodeltuazon5672 Hi Rodel, a bladder spam is basically when your bladder squeezes involuntarily and you leak or urinate. People often experience this when they have a urinary catheter. As for the symptoms you mention - burning, straining, etc. I had pretty much all of them except the burning. Maybe if I had that I would have been more proactive. I kinda just got used to going to the bathroom all the time, and sitting just in case, and dribbling and wanting to go but couldn't and life also took over....bad on me for neglecting my health. I was eventually diagnosed with severe BPH which led to having a prostatectomy. It's been a life-altering journey that's for sure. How'd you end up having to use a catheter?
Went to ER cause I was uncomfortable and could not satisfy the have to pee feeling. Dribble sessions 15 mins. When they scanned me at ER and sure enough it was full. 3 days in with cath, I felt my bladder was getting full and I was very uncomfortable and was not draining. Called my GF and we drive back to ER. As we get half way there I finally start draining. We still go to ER and they scan me, yep empty. So we go home. 4th day I start feeling uncomfortable and full again. I walk up and down the stairs, do half squats, call the Urologist office, she suggest pushing it carefully cause sometimes they get jammed or something. So I did. And still nothing. Being a man and thinking I only needed this for a couple days anyway and don't need the suggested 7 to keep it in. So get in the shower and take the cath out about 3pm. They showed me how at ER and I also TH-camd, lol. Finally relief! Had good pee sessions, nice flow. Had good sessions at bedtime, going about every 30 mins to an hour. The times kept getting shorter and shorter to having dribbles. Sure enough I start having real bad sessions like from last time. 1:30am we drive back to ER. Bladder was full and I get a 2nd cath put in. That was last Saturday and I still have it. Anyway before 1st cath I had BPH and had prostate biopsy and all 12 samples came back positive. Had MRI done and then a PET CT scan. Cancer has metastasized. On hormone med therapy and having first chemo therapy Tuesday..
@@rodeltuazon5672 WOW! You have had a rough go of it with the catheter and I'm so so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I also didn't realize you were using an intermittent catheter. I didn't have the nerve to do it so I used an indwelling. My best friend has stage four breast cancer and has her third chemo treatment tomorrow. She is doing pretty good and we have hope and faith. In the meantime, I spend as much time with her and her family. How're you doing with all this news? It's an awful lot to digest and process. My friend did a lot of research and mentally and emotionally prepared herself for the treatments. How's your GF?
It's not easy for sure but it sounds like you have a plan. I lost a lot of night's sleep at the beginning and woke up every time I moved. I had to figure something out or I would not have slept for over three months and lost my mind. Wishing you great health and a faster road to recovery.

Great tip Joe! I would not have thought of that as I'm not that hairy.
