I love it that your whole family eats the same thing everyone else eats. Even with the family food allergies. I know so many families that the younger children only eat chicken nuggets., pizza, etc. I really believe they will continue to grow up and eat the same way. Love your family and all the laborers of love and life you live.

If parents didn't provide those nuggets etc, then children would eat proper food.

Our children have always had meals at the table, regardless of where we are.
Many of their friends eat in front of the tv or in their rooms, yet enjoy the 15-30 mins of catchup and banter when they visit for dinner. Meals are generally take what you feel is appropriate from various dishes laid out on the table. If it’s something they really aren’t fussed on, simple make your own in advance and bring it to the table and be prepared to share. No one eats alone either, if someone is eating later, someone sits and talks without distractions.

When I worked as a living history interpreter I learned that people in certain areas used to store apples in weighted down barrels in rivers or lakes fully submerged. As long as the water around them didn’t freeze they could stay absolutely perfect in the oxygen-free environment underwater. Then they could pull the barrels up in the spring when the ice was gone and have fresh eating apples. I always found that fascinating!

Beautiful video Jessica you inspire me to keep going. I have tomatoes from my garden blanching on the stove top right now to Can up when they cool down. I friend up 3 pounds of pork sausage and put in to freezer containers to use for later meals. I am in central Ohio thankfully we did not have a frost this weekend but it is coming soon I am sure. Cozying up for the winter sounds like a wonderful plan. My sister lives in the country I go there every weekend for dinner and it's so beautiful out there right now she has 9 acres and a good part of it is tree's all reds and yellows I got a beautiful picture last weekend which I shared on my FB page and my Christian group with so much going on in our world right now we need to step back, breath and enjoy God's beauty. I can’t believe little miss Hannah is old enough to be walking already! It seems like only yesterday she was born!! Seeing Adam nuzzling her it reminds me of a book I read I think it was called diary of a 3 month old, obviously they don’t know the words mum and dad yet so the baby was calling them hairy and smooth because of the dads beard! Very funny little book will see if I can find out the correct title because it’s a fun little book x

I have really enjoyed all of your videos and updates about your farm, home and garden. For the first time this fall, i went to a U-pick farm and bought a bushel of apples. I live in an apartment alone but after learning about how to store apples for the winter, i decided to do the same and today i have learnt that we can even store them in plastic bags to last for longer and that is exactly what i plan to do this evening. I have never baked an apple pie so i added it to my to-do list for this winter.
I also started canning in august and it was so easy after getting the hang of it. .....i canned tomato soup, strawberry jam and watermelon lemonade. ...next will be bone broth, beans and so much more.
Your videos are so warm, relaxing and so educative. I watch them during my 1 hr lunch break at work and also over the weekend when am home. send regards to Adam , it is nice to see him once in a while. I love how the kids interact with him and i also enjoy the Q&A videos that you do together. I remember when he was talking about how to manage funds for your family and i absolutely loved how he said something like..... to avoid a lot of debt, live within your means and use what you have, if it runs out, then find a way of surviving without getting more loans plus not trying to compete with other people. His words really renewed my financial strength because i realized that i was on the right financial path...i try to live within my means, i work with a budget and i watch every coin that i earn. I work in a department where some of my coworkers are big spenders but thanks to your videos, i am more grounded and focused on my personal financial development......i pack my own snacks+ lunch everyday while my workmates blow 20+ dollars each day . Thank you for sharing your lives with us.

What a super video. You have accomplished so much and Hannah is going to be keeping everyone busy now that she’s walking. My allotment is a mess but I can’t do anything about it until the beginning of November so it’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one with a garden which needs tending. Have a good week and thank you. In NW England we probably won’t have much snow but the rain is a constant!

I have spreadsheets for my freezers too. I have a separate sheet for each type of meat....beef, pork, chicken etc. I also have one for my canned goods. I then highlight the amount of boxes for each item and then mark them off as I use them. Makes for a very pretty spreadsheet.

I was thinking that as organized as you are with absolutely everything, and watching you meal plan, that a trip to your basement is equivalent to a trip to the grocery store.
I find myself so unorganized that I am running to our local store at least every other day. I’m not a happy cook, so I procrastinate to the last minute.
However, that being said, your videos are encouraging. Wile I’ll never be able to accomplish what you do, I’m 72, we live in a area where we are not allowed outside watering, I still can get some good pointers from you. You just raised my mood from depressed to optimistic! 😇

Jessica, I love watching your videos. I look forward to every new release, Thank youvfor all your hard work. You have taught me so much.
I live on the Welsh border in the UK in a county called Herefordshire.
We eat a lot of locally sourced meat and vegetables, I'm grateful that living in the country offers me luxuries. I also have a small vegetable patch that is always very busy and successful.
I have noticed a difference between our cooking. I don't know whether it's a country difference or just your family. When I cook roasts and vegetables, we in the UK always cover it on gravy. You don't seem to do that. Why not?
Many thanks, and God bless your big, beautiful family xxx

I'm in WI and just put my garlic in yesterday. Finally getting some beds cleaned up and put to bed. I keep a perennial bed of garlic that I just let go and dig up when I need new ones, its worked for about 15 years, but this year I did order three new varieties to try. German, music and Spanish roja are the new ones, all hardneck because I love the scapes.

Hi, thank you so much for letting us all into your life. We're trying to live as sustainably and self sufficiently as we can, which meant we took the plunge and ordered a pressure canner from the states to be shipped to the Scottish Highlands a couple of years ago. Alot of US TH-cam and books later I have gone from 5 freezers to 3 by canning loads of our meat, veg and fruit!! Been trying your applescrap vinegar, 1st batch went really mouldy...but the hens loved the fruit. Starting to get the same on my next batches, though nowhere near as bad. Everything was clean, I've cleaned off mould and scummy liquid and recovered, they both smell really good, but I know that may not mean they are. What's your thoughts....help. thank you so much xx
