I've kind of given up on 2tc rush now depending on what civ I'm up against. I've had much more success with early aggression and killing off some vils with longbows and then moving into 2tc or ageing up while I'm ahead. Early push means I'm prepared if they are pushing, or can catch them off guard and force them to start spending resources on military when I've already outproduced. Then by the time they have enough to defend, the damage has already been done and they've spent the same amount as I have or they over commit and fall behind. First to 3rd age can grab most of the relics and then it's pretty straightforward to the end of the game.
I'm beginning to feel the exact same. It gets tiring always being the subject of aggression and not the one forcing the opponent to react. Happy to hear you've been finding more success with a different strategy. The next few videos going up should be a bit more aggressive in style! Thanks for the comment beast 👌
