8:30 damn, this story's craazy. I'm so sorry that people didn't believe that you were as smart as you were! Thank you for opening my eyes to this topic overall. I've personally tried to always treat people how I want to be treated no matter their skin colour, what really affects that response is people's morals and all. Keep doing ehat you're doing, you are doing a great job :)
I got myself a housekeeper that comes every two weeks. Now I don’t have to spend every Sunday morning cleaning and I can rest, move slowly, workout. When I told a family member they said “what’s wrong with you where you can’t clean” 😂 I haven’t told anyone else. You not going to shame me for resting
I love how people are coming to accept overall that rest and being at peace are so important in this time period (from what I've seen in my social circles at least). Even more so I'm happy that black women are able to have a space and voice in this area now, where they've been demonized for it prior. Everyone deserves rest, peace, and to just simply exist/live how they wish in this life. Great video and I hope you have a wonderful day!
I feel like this also applies to Black Women in Every movement: We can't be Sexually Liberated, but fight for others Sexual Freedom (Jezebel), We can't give ENOUGH to our own or even Self sustain, we Must give to everyone else and be happy about it (Mammy), We can't be Angry for being thrown under the bus Politically but Must be Righteously angry for others Rights (Sapphire) And we must also be Humble to the point of being ashamed of not being White enough, or the right kind of Black Person in every occasion to the near point of being ashamed to be a Black Woman, Especially if you are Dark Skinned (Tragic Mulatto) The Black Girl Luxury feels like a Blend of Everything we aren't allowed to do, that others have had the luxury to do or experience, Sometimes due to OUR labor in THEIR movements and Lives, and Say It's our turn now... I'mma do me! And they are mad because we aren't playing this game anymore, we're sick of it!
Thank you for making this video! It should never be your responsibility to educate people about the horrifies and dehumanization of black women, yet it is so beautiful that you are empowering black women and reinstating their voices in your videos! As a white woman, I am truly so thankful and appreciative of your videos❤ it is so refreshing and informative to watch your videos!
Whenever I think of the Sapphire stereotype now, I always think of Mad by Solange. Because yeah, I actually do got a lot to be mad about! Black women get boxed into these stereotypes all the time in an effort to control us but I'm glad we still shine and break through statistical projections of us regardless.
@@Queentiwa you only care about black women and could care less about the black community or black men didn't you make a bunch of videos traveling around south korea trying to date and worship asian men since that experience didn't work out now you want to talk about black female empowerment newsflash some of the people that can't handle empowered black women are other black women i have seen black females treat other black females like garbage

This is powerful and spot on. Thank you for shedding light on a subject that desperately needs to be acknowledged and addressed. It’s time for a societal change.
I'm so sorry you've had to prove how smart you are to those idiots. Thank you for this video. I knew some of this but I definitely learned some new things. I'm really glad you showed up in my feed a few weeks ago.
I just caught up with your latest video. And the very sad thing about all this is a person should be able to do what he or she wants to do without worrying about what others think. Giving the “others” a chance to remark about what you want out of life should be irrelevant. Do you (as they say) and the hell with everyone else. Ditch the social media crowd. Take in life through yourself. Not others. Anyway, I loved your brilliance, again. You are quite the special person. Thanks!
Thank you for this video and for further educating me about the stereotypes black women still face. You absolutely enjoy living in luxury, however that looks to you. I really enjoy your videos, they are very informative. On a personal note, your hair is amazing!
Excellent video, your knowledge of each topic and your use of examples really brings your story together, keep up the great work of empowering and enlightening your audience.
Thank you for this insightful video essay. It is disgusting to see we are mired in the same sexist and racist bigotry but expressed a little differently over time. Fortunately it is easy to spot because bigots are not really creative. Just hurtful and far too influential.
@Queentiwa based, because Lord knows when Poilievre (aka Malicious Milhouse) wins the Federal election and becomes the PM shits gonna get wild! PS: please feel free to use the Malicious Millhouse, I don't know how else you would describe a dude that would have emptied out Canadian coffers to buy BitCoin and in the same breath say "I am fiscally Conservative", so suspect.

Okay, so I'm subbing to this channel now, because holy sh*t you're smart, and, secondly, I have a song recommendation if you're into music at all: "Eve Was Black" by Allison Russell. She's an African Canadian, bilingual artist, and this song is AMAZING. I was actually stunned that she lost the Juno award (it's an exclusively Canadian music award) to Jeremy Dutcher. He's God, but she's mind-blowing. I will never sing "Eve Was Black," though. I'm a singer, but it's a Black women's song as I see it.
This video is exactly what I needed. I've gone into a work environment where this is my first experience being in a predominantly black community. I have been brought up and raised in white communities. So technically, I was the only black kid on the block. I moved into a different state in hopes of starting a new opportunity as a teacher. I was surprised of how other African-Americans can be bias towards ourselves. I have literally been mocked and made fun of certain luxury items that I choose to wear in order to brighten up my day. For example, I like to wear different Bohemian color bracelets. Often I will sometimes wear a maxi skirt with a solid shirt. And I have literally have had coworkers approach me pointing out how white I'm trying to become. Which my Dynamic of how I was brought up and raised hasn't psychologically made me to believe that I'm better than anyone else. It's unfortunate that I need to portray a certain stereotype in order to be accepted
Lol at the driving point. I 💯 agree. I don't consider driving a luxury, but a burden, and I can easily afford a car. Parking, tickets, gas, insurance, and maintenance (and thats if you paid for it fully)💀. Parking ain't even bad in windsor, but when travelling, I really see the cost of just owning that piece of metal - we are talking about 40 bucks just to park. Also I did the math, and if I took cabs for a year living my own lifestyle, it's still way cheaper than owning a car.
I had no idea "welfare queen" was racialized. I was always under the impression that it was just right-wing fear-mongering about (spooky) socialism. Not saying you're wrong or that it couldn't be both, I just never heard/noted that it was associated with POC. It may be worth noting/providing an argument against (because I'm sure someone's bound to bring it up) that while the percentage makeup of people on social assistance is majority White, that's bound to happen when the country is also majority White. The fact that (in the US) only 43% of folks on social assistance are White while they account for (depending on who you ask) 58-72% of the total population, and 23% are Black while they account for (depending on who you ask) 12-14% of the population means that welfare recipients ARE disproportionately Black even if they aren't the most numerous. Obviously, the reasons for this are myriad and significant and maybe you cut it for time, but it felt like something worth addressing for the folks who are going to come in here and try to pick apart what you're saying. I'm curious what these stats are like in Canada-I know the demographics here are much different than the states. Thanks for the education on Black Girl Luxury and the history of these major stereotypes; happy to be subbed ✨🙏🏽
The wild thing is that the original Welfare Queen (Linda Taylor) wasn't even a BW. On the census she was listed as white and at varying points in time she identified with being Jewish, Native American and at times she could look Asian. She was racially ambigious. NPR did a great article on her in All Things Considered.
