    Veloworthy, once again, providing the best coverage.
    It's a luxury to see the race from the inside. No montages, no silly edits, no music, just this close and intimate view of the racers.
    This is what this is all about. People. This point of view is the best for this discipline.
    Solid work!

    They need to figure out how to route other riders into a different chute just for the moments of the men and women pros are finishing so you could have a heads up sprint with no other impedance. Great racing this year and also great coverage @veloworthy.

      Race organizers said that Emporia won't provide permits to close another lane of traffic on the finishing chute so it's everyone in one path. Pretty dangerous though!

    • @ryanflanagan6722
      @ryanflanagan6722 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@VeloworthyAwesome coverage! So nice to see footage of the finish (the Lifetime instagram cutout right when the final sprint started). Not being able to get a permit sounds like a BS excuse/damage control after it turned out to be an obvious mistake. This event is the biggest thing to happen in Emporia all year, of course they could shut down another lane, or figure something out. Keegan is a beast and was the favorite, but result might have been different if there was a clear chute, but I guess that’s the spirit of gravel 🤷‍♂️

    Brian, Great coverage! The thing that caught my attention was the lack of wet lube on the drivetrain after they were sprayed down with the pressure washers. Were there any casualties from this lack of attention?

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Hector. The mechanics did try to run lube on the chain if time permitted. Mostly it was just to get the dirt off the pulleys the the bikes could shift and the chains wouldn't drop. There were however a lot of noisy bikes on course.

    Absolutely amazing race this year. Great coverage!
    I too agree this race is special. Gravel traditionally has been precisely for its lack of rules and priority on fun and democratizing bike racing. So it is arguably special for the very aspects Sofia seems to be wishing she could change. Sure everyone wants a win and I can understand her disappointment. But there are a LOT of races she can participate in meeting these criteria - where men and women never compete in the same field. Conversely there are not many races like Unbound. So yeah, this race IS special. It has special tactics because it requires its winners to be resilient face of extreme adversity and take into account many factors not common in other races, like men dropping out of the lead group meeting up with the pro women's leaders.
    Unfortunately Lifetime has already made some unfortunate new rules. In so doing they may have started down the dark, slippery path to UCI-ism. Some of it isn't so bad (yet.) They're separating the pros from the amateurs and pro women from pro men by a few minutes. (Appealing directly to Sofia's argument while not completely eliminating the open field.) They're also making rules against certain equipment choices. I'm not personally affected (for now) but I still think that's a shame. Gravel is growing and that's a good thing but I have a wish for it to always stick to its strong roots; outside mainstream cycling; open to all and true to an open format.

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I already thought exactly this after watching the lifetime Grand Prix documentary from last years season and thought maybe it’s just the way the edited it, but no, she always comes across really unlikeable unfortunately

      How so? I think she is making excellent points and one day if not within the next couple of years you will see it that way. It only makes sense. This format is fine as a festival but as it gets more serious, changes are in order.

      Gravel was touted as being for everyone and NOT like road racing which it’s becoming. Once you get divisions, Pros and money it gets ruined.

      @@teweraijanda2994Maybe the women need a separate race, but last year Sophia said she liked racing the men but now she got smoked her tune changed. She’s in the same race as everyone else, she has the same opportunities as every other woman but she’ll always have a tantrum when she gets beaten.
      She’s used to being a big fish in a small pond.
