    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there were many people that didn't catch any even when I was there. Some of the people that hooked fish had multiple hookups through. I call it the 90-10 & 10-90 statistics 😆

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  ปีที่แล้ว

      My friends have been limiting. The kings are not as prevalent however the silver action should get really good with this first good rain. It will bring fish into most rivers.

    btw, where's the closest public parking?

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One of the main places is at the skate park ( in video ) in Orting. 425 Washington Ave SE. There are many places little further into town that you can walk the paved trail that goes all the way from in town to the river.

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some real close on streets all through town, but limited numbers and aren't reliable that you will have space. They are right next to the river levy though. You should also check out the area by the treatment plant. Fish On !!!

    One thing I forgot to ask, how heavy is the leader line youre using? I would think youd want something pretty strong with a current that fast so would you say anything like 20# or 25# would be good there?

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was using 20 P-line for main and 17 and 20 for leader depending on brand that day. One brand 17 diameter and strength is similar to another one of 20 that I was trying out. In these conditions, don't bother with expensive fluorocarbon or nothing like that. When the water clears up, I go lighter. It doesn't matter right now since visibility is low on most days until temps go down. 12 -14 works fine there most times, but in combat fishing times you need little more oompf since people just don't have patience to let you fight the fish. I suggest checking out some spots a little lower away from the crowds to let you use the gear and fish the way you prefer to match conditions. Don't go too big on the hooks either. 1 or 1/0 barbless gamakatsu with one or two small corky. Neutral buoyancy for this fast drift. People go huge and snag too many fish here. Not needed.

    • @cristiangarland9043

    That spot looks pretty swift and narrow. How much weight are you using in that spot if you wouldn't mind telling? Just corkie and yarn there? How long of a leader? Looks like fun!

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is. About 5 to 6 .300 if slinky. 1/4 or 3/8 Oz for most of run works, some go little heavier. Fine line between getting down, staying down, and getting snagged constantly. Grabbing in spots.

      @@raybaby Sweet! Thanks for the response! Tight lines!

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Corky or cheater with small yarn. I like 4 to 6 foot leader. Some use lot longer there, but fast-short drift and more important to get down quickly rather than long swing that people do on bigger drifts.

    How did you rigged your leader line and about how long is the leader? Never caught a salmon ever in the Puyallup River. Huhu

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use standard drift setup. Hook with loop, yarn in loop, and one or two small corky or cheater. Depending on the spot, adjust leader length. Some go real long 7-9 foot. I usually keep it around 4-6 foot there. Sometimes go even shorter, adjusting as I use different size hooks...yarn, corky size, ....or if I am using eggs. Water clarity and flow causes me to adjust. There are some people with good tips on youtube for drift gear setup ( many on puyallup ). Just search drift fishing gear puyallup. I haven't made any yet, but people are asking so I might in the near future.

    • @spiderman070104

      Good luck. Hope you catch some. I know that some people were doing good while others were not right next to them. Watch people and save it in your fishing memory ideas. Lot of good people out there that will share experience. If you see me on the river, come say hi. Thanks for watching and comment.

    Is this the carbon river in orting area or the one that connects to the Puyallup?

    • @raybaby
      @raybaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is the section in Orting below Voight creek. Fishing is good all the way down to where it merges with Puyallup. However it closed for Salmon 9/30.
