I'm a little late but she is a beauty ! I especially like the shuttle bays. I agree about the nacelles for the saucer. Perhaps they could be tucked inside where the separation is and drop down or up after separation. I wish I new how to do this. I'd like to make a battle ship like no other. Thanks for the video.
Small fast agile, but has science capable and exploration in mind but has teeth and can hit targets hard on one pass this really does go with starfleets new approach to Star ship design.
This ship definitely fits in the Star Trek universe well and is a nice upgrade over the Intrepid Class, definitely what Voyager wanted to be when it grew up!
Nice design. Easily fits into star trek universe as a follow up to the Intrepid class. A neat package indeed. Liked all the influences and the shuttle bays. How heavy a punch does she have? The only nitpicky thing for me was the sense of scale the comparison shots gave. The few dozen windows gave the sense it should be a lot smaller than the Sovereign, when compared to hundreds of windows on that ship. How do you work that out?
The Textures were a little rushed in the end and the windows ended up feeling far to big in the end... I have been working on correcting this on the original design...
Its not designed to "purposefully duplicate" Voyagers mission... That was just an example of what it would be capable of... Voyager was a mid-range Exploration cruiser, The Venture is designed as an extended Long-range exploration cruiser. Like I stated in the episode, she was not designed to land on planets but is atmospheric flight capable.
Really nice looking ship. The only issue I have is the way the nacelles are sort of tilted inwards at the bottom. It would look better if they were just straight. Not the struts, I mean the way the nacelles themselves are angled at the end of the struts.
I'm liking this one. You corrected a lot of the things that bother me about the Intrepid - the exposed area on the saucer finally has shutters, the too small nacelles, the humpback is mostly gone, and saucer separation is back. And the design doesn't seem stretched or too pointy, which is always nice to see. I am curious about where the saucers warp nacelles are, and if they can be used while docked (if the primaries were offline). In the 2D layout it looks like the bussards are the gray slits just aft of the saucers RCS thrusters, but that doesn't seem to show in the 3D render. Probably because they're offline? The emergency capacity seems a little low, but if she's got stores and fuel comparable to a Galaxy class with a fraction of the crew complement that would eat up a lot of space. The one thing I'm not sold on is the nacelles. I'm fine with the thickness - a pair of nacelles in a single housing is fine, but the mounting angle makes them look like they're drooping and too heavy for the pylons. Could just be me wanting the nacelles to be perpendicular to the saucer edge and decks. For the registry, the large forward observation bay I'd eliminate that, or pull it back to a rounder shape, no real need to repeat the saucer shape there. Or that section behind the secondary deflector could be split and placed elsewhere if you really want to keep it.
Now being able to visualize it in 3D I think I'm going to adjust the angles slightly... The deflector though we just ran out of time to paint. It was supposed to be gold with gray lines for detailing...
The Defiant has bent Nacelles like that too as does Voyager (in warp), as for the struts they seem configured like that to allow a clear exit for the impulse exhaust.
Fantastic design! Congrats to Chris on some wonderful work. Was a real pleasure to observe some of your progress on the Facebook page, and even get involved with the conversations on there. Is there a completed MSD?
Thank you Adam, I enjoyed the conversations too. They really helped get me thinking for some of the details... I just added a newer one to the pinned post for this episode... facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10159862846770595&set=p.10159862846770595&type=3&theater
Great video. The ship's designer is worried about the placement of the registry, I think it is perfectly placed. Beautiful ship. Btw, during the video there was a brief look at a diagram of a ship referred to as the Chariot class. Done any videos on that one? And what in the HELL is that under the secondary hull? Or IS thst the secondary hull? Very unusual design. Anyhoo, great job Captain and Commander.
Nice to see more exploration-focused ships instead of combat ones. It always feels wrong to see dedicated Federation battleships and weirder when the majority of designs featured are military ones.
I would say it liooks like a post DS9 version of an Ares Class. Maybe one of the successors of the Akira program. The Lore is on point, and influenced by Voyager. It adheres to cannon and it looks like a truly space based design built by true deep space explorers. A runabout that spends a week on a class M planet found on sensors and builds a science package that would give a colony a chance to flourish. The flyer plus saucer gives a 3 direction assault mode if needed as well. The 3d saucer is missing, where are the nacelles/ coils on it? That would have been interesting to se.
I see the two impulse engines for the main saucer but where's the impulse engines for the secondary hall after separation? Are those the three white colored rectangular set on the bottom of the secondary hall meant to be the impulse engines? (Edit) your ship is beautiful. (Edit 2) oh I found them. :)
No no....its not that....just Luna is one of my favorites in STW: Soveregin, Luna, Mogai, Vorcha, Prometheus, Akira... So if i would have a little fleet, with every Type of Federation ships: Soveregin- heavy cruiser(battle cruiser), Akira - Light war Cruiser, Luna - Long range exploration class, and maybe Nova class as Light escort Frigate. BTw i really like your starship its better than Voyager! Only one thing i would change a little...secondary hull i would move to front of ship....BTw in past i created few of federation ships, but only on paper...so great Work!
haha... Its all good, we all have our preferences... I actually really like the Luna class as well... She was one of 3 ships that influenced the under slung nacelles...
Yeah about Nacelles...in Luna they should be a bit longer too imho;) and if You refit and make windows smaller in your ship, then in 100% compare size with Sovergin and other will be rightful
Ya, unfortunately the texture was a bit rushed at the end... The final hi-res model will fix the window scale issue... I have actually been thinking about stretching the nacelles a few meters longer. I think you're the 4th person to suggest it so I'll definitely look into it.
i like much of this visual design. the idea of beefing up an Intrepid class gets a thumbs up from me near every time. i smiled and nodded at its intended role. through the course of this episode, i did have a few moments of disagreement with the design. given its increased size in comparison to an Intrepid, i don't find a personal aversion the addition of saucer seperation (i'm with Cmdr Cockings in disregarding the Multi-Vector reference) for the purpose of expanding sensor search and exploratory cruising. it seem like a practical idea to me. what it does not seem... is possible, as it appears to lack any warp capability in the saucer/chevron section and absence of impulse propulsion in the secondary hull. that aside, the nacelle design, though borrowed but respectfully acknowledged, felt like they are just smidge too large in ratio to the rest of the ship until it was let known how many nacelles were actually present therein; good thinking, sir. let me add in a Thank You for not including any articulation of the nacelles. i've always viewed that as a poor design idea if *just* for the same reason mentioned in this episode... what if it's damaged in some way? what if the starboard assembly falls out of sync with the port side or one simply locks up completely. i appreciate you applying common sense to that issue. a compliment of large size shuttlecraft would require fairly spacious maintenance compartment; the size (primarily concerning the height) of the compartment shown directly below the primary flight deck (i expect is intended for shuttle storage) would not suffice in facilitating extensive repairs of dorsal or ventral components of either the Delta or Danube. using the primary flight deck for such a thing would be prohibitive as it would counter maintaining a open and therefore usable flightline. this doesn't seem to be a concern many designers have addressed or perhaps even thought to consider. the registry placement didn't even raise an eye with me. if you feel the need to adjust its location to something more centered down the keelline to appeal the Captain Foley's sensibility, i wouldn't be opposed. all in all, i enjoyed this episode and interview. for all the things i contest with this design, they are outnumbered by those i appreciate. p.s. *fleshed out. to flush out something is to uncover something hidden or otherwise obscured, or even to discard something.
Regarding the lack of warp coils for the saucer. I couldn't figure how I wanted to visualize the separated sections so they were left blank. The warp coils for the saucer though would be hidden between the two halves though and would either pop out like the Prometheus's saucers nacelle or articulate down like the Intrepid's or remain fixed like the Defiant. Unfortunetely due to time I just couldn't decide and figure out a way to show it before the episode. As for the Impulse. The main drive actually splits in half horizontally. The top half is for the Saucer, bottom half for the Stardrive. And for the Hangar bays... I'll post an image of the unfinished MSD I was working on the facebook post for you to view, but I did try to take into account the space needed for shuttle repairs. facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10159862846770595&set=p.10159862846770595&type=3&theater
i happen to be staring at the aft view image provided at timestamp 17:55 which does display the horizontal seperation in the impulse thrusters quite clearly. along with your above response explaining the visual lack of warp propulsion for the saucer section, i will happily consider that matter satisfactorily closed. as for the shuttle maintenance concern; the space allocated in the provided MSD seems no different than the image provided in this video, to which i drew a dissatisfied opinion. but it *is* just that, only my opinion. i was under no expectation of a response, so thank you for taking the time to address my post.
Warp capable small craft that can go out and back from a long endurance ship would give you the ability to grab several asteroids to get base matter and elements for the replicator, and other mundane tasks rather than diverting the ship all over the place.
Prometheus was one of the first to get Slipstream as well. If it was 2389 then Seven wouldn’t be calling herself that now. She finally went to her proper name in 2381. Janeway is also dead. :)
Robert Hayes thats all book side canon :) chris wanted to go with what he though would make sence... not what a random trek author decided was her future for trek :P
yep i know different authors worked off each others novels just liked the Starwars Books did before they were doubly made not canon. I would also assume she would go by her human name after a while :)
I'd like to think there are two separate timelines in Star Wars. One where things actually happen and its exciting, and the other is the Disney timeline.
I don't agree with the term kitbashing, it is common sense for star ships to have similar design structures in a galactic civilization for construction consolidation and mass production principles to avoid redundancy on such a large scale. Personally I think Orville is more of a realistic depiction of star ships with a core design structure for main fleet vessels.
I like the design but i thought that torpedo bays are mandatory ? Perhaps not . How many Star Fleet vessels are actually planet landing capable ?! Im a fan of the smaller Fleet vessels like the O'-Berth class and Archer
They're difficult to see but she has 4 (two forward and two aft facing) torpedo launchers on the belly. 2 just under the deflector and 2 at the bottom of the rear underside slope... I wouldn't know the answer for that...
175 seems like a low stanard crew for a 450 meter long my 200 meters wide. I would bump up the stanard crew to minium 250 crew. More like 430 amd wmerance crew 1000
Exactly... The ship is designed to function with an average crew of 175. That's just the average number of personnel needed to run and maintain the ship... There are also another 125 crew quarters, plus the 200 Passenger berths that can easily accommodate additional crew like dedicated scientists or mako's or what ever the mission needs... I also just realized I goofed on those numbers... It should be average crew of 175 with up to 300, plus 200 additional quarters, With a max emergency pax of 250 personnel... So a max of 750 people...
HEY TREKYARDS,YOU GUYS NEED TO DESIGN YOUR OWN STARSHIP,WITH ALL THAT YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT STARFLEET TECHNOLOGY I BET YOU COULD COME UP WITH SOMETHING AWESOME.
She personally reminds me of the smaller sister of the Monsoon-class from the top. (Fan-design) 4:56 How did you envision the quantum-slipstream to work? Did it work similar to maximum warp having a time limit on its operations or is this the travel time it took without taking breaks?
How interesting... I have never seen that design before! I figured the Slipstream would operate similarly to the Dauntless where it could be run continuously at a specific speed... The details for QSs is still fuzzy for me.
I mostly ask this because there is so little known about the QSS apart from the 300 lightyears per hour and then later it being ludicrously fast. From what I got from my calculations at just 300 ly/h you'd be able to traverse the Milky Way galaxy in under two weeks. I made a video on it where I specifically give a reason as to why they cannot use the latter speed or you'd be able to reach the Delta Quadrant within a minute.
The ships a real Beauty fantastic I would like to see a series about going back to the Delta quadrant the movie 10 years after what you got back 20 years maybe Tom Paris as Captain Maybe Harry came as a captain of another ship maybe seven of nine captain of another one for Torres
Great Design but i think it is far too big, The entire ship feels only 7 decks, much similar in length size to the Nova. That Chariot Class!!!!!! WOW i had not seen that before and I love it, please do a episode on that. In doing a google search it shows two other classes of ship on the first page that are hand drawn, both unconventional designs as well and they look amazing
The Textures were a little rushed in the end and the windows ended up felling far to big in the end... I have been working on correcting this on the original design...
I like the small feel, for me it works better as a smaller ship. The windows were only one of the aspects that made it feel small, the other, was the nacelles. They give the impression of a rather small hull size, if looking at them as singular and not doubled up design.
My original scale range for the design was between 375m and 450m... I have been thinking about going back and modifying a few things so that it doesn't feel so huge for its size before I start on the hi-res model... Mostly just rescaling the primary/secondary hull and possibly stretching the nacelles a few meters...
Can a ship be a Mary-Sue? Because I've seen plenty of USS Mary-Sues on this show. Yeah, it was it was specially worked on by Scotty, B'ellana, the Traveller and Q, and Picard went around fluffing everyone involved to make sure they stayed hard throughout the relentless wankery. Heard it all before.
This violates all past continuity like Operation Full Circle. Also this ship basically is everything at once- separation capable, way too many shuttles, all the weapons of a Sovereign-Class ship: is there nothing this ship doesnt have? If Starfleet could make a ship like this they wouldn't make any other classes! And The Venture already exists as a Galaxy-Class ship from DS9. It's too fan boy and ridiculous.
What's Op Full Circle? She actually doesn't have all the weapons the Sovereign had... She has the same number of phaser strips, 16, but only 2 torpedo launchers versus the Sovereigns 10... Plus 20 years of advancements from the original Sovereign... The 2390's era Venture classes stats were only in comparison to the 2370's Sovereign. She doesn't have cloaking, if that makes you feel better... Why is 16 shuttles considered "To Many"? The Sovereign has 36!
This is such a gorgeous design, an absolutely believable Federation ship. Well done!
This is a gorgeous ship. Really a perfect response to a long range science vessel to re-enter the Delta quadrant.
intrepid class thats hit the gym, love it
Swole Intrepid . LOL
Wicked design. The sweep and depth to the secondary hull are fantastic. I'd love a variant with a Nova style cut out in the front.
Funny enough, one of my really early sketches had a nova style cut out...
I love this design and where the registry number is a good place. Well done.
I like it very much - from the top view a bit like intrepid and prometheus having a baby! Really good!
Absolute best ship design, I'd love to see it on screen.
Absolutely love this design. Beautifully done and well balanced.
Sweet!! Beefed up Intrepid hybrid? Nice!!!!!! :)Haha! I feel ya bruh! Amazing to see them make our ships come to life!!!
LETS SEE SOME MORE FEDERATION WARSHIP DESIGNS.
Cool ship, I can see this as a new gen long range exploration cruiser..
She's a fine ship. I'll be asking Admiral Janeway to be assigned command of one!!
Small fast agile, but has science capable and exploration in mind but has teeth and can hit targets hard on one pass this really does go with starfleets new approach to Star ship design.
woot woot that intro gave me chills
FOundersDelight agreed! Absolutely beautiful and awe inspiring work Samuel!
best one yet
This ship definitely fits in the Star Trek universe well and is a nice upgrade over the Intrepid Class, definitely what Voyager wanted to be when it grew up!
Sweet ship very nice design thank you
It looks also a bit like a newer version of an Ares class.
Love that ship. She along with the Luna class where two of the ships that inspired me to do the underslung nacelles.
I like it, and maybe someday it could be added to STO, that'd be awesome. :)
Looks like a heck of a ship. The Ocampa ... Lol
Amazing design! Really love the profile
great ship. I do like the suggestion of split nacelle for each section as a redundancy. Think of it as starfleet's A-10 warthog.
Nacelles aside, it's really not **that** much smaller than the Sovereign class. Really nice design, too!

Really nice looking ship. The only issue I have is the way the nacelles are sort of tilted inwards at the bottom. It would look better if they were just straight. Not the struts, I mean the way the nacelles themselves are angled at the end of the struts.
nice ship, has a very nice line
-27- torpedo tubes where on the scimitar in Nemesis... :)

Really well done. Nice ship.
She’s a beauty! ❤️🖖🇨🇦
Hey Team Trekyards! Big fan!
I want see a series about the three ships that go to the delta quadrant
Nacelles should be a bit more slik and a bit longer;) and would be beautiful!
I like it, but not sure I like the angled nacelles and the bright yellow deflector. Otherwise it looks pretty awesome!
Looks like a baby prometheus...
a baby that's 35 meters longer... lol
Sovereing + Persido (STO) combination? I like it

Wait, just found it in the comments on a FB post.

Wew! A new original! Still wanna do one of these some day. Just gotta know how the process goes about...and how much it costs. :D
MainBlag Banner trekyards@hotmail.com just gotta ask ;) we love doing them :D
I sent an email last week, I think! Never got a response though. :C
The subject was "Few questions 'bout Trekyards Originals", in case you can't find it!
Oh weird! :O what email was it sent from? I personally reply to everyone who asks. Maybe it went to junk? :/
mainblag@gmail.com! Fingers crossed you find it; i have the same avatar and name there as here!
Looks good but it does clash with the Luna Class. Similar type of ships.
Fantastic!
Similar to something I have on STO great look!
get in touch with eaglemoss and tell them to make it happen....what a cool ship....omg
Yes!!! Please!

Dude is clearly a voyager fan boy.
well he _says_ it
Id like to see a tactical multi vector 3 piece design like the promethius ship..
Great ship design...but if i would choose from Luna and Venture class....im taking Luna
Why's that? Is it because the Luna has a hi-def render, and mine doesn't? :P
No no....its not that....just Luna is one of my favorites in STW: Soveregin, Luna, Mogai, Vorcha, Prometheus, Akira... So if i would have a little fleet, with every Type of Federation ships: Soveregin- heavy cruiser(battle cruiser), Akira - Light war Cruiser, Luna - Long range exploration class, and maybe Nova class as Light escort Frigate. i like much of this visual design. the idea of beefing up an Intrepid class gets a thumbs up from me near every time. i smiled and nodded at its intended role. through the course of this episode, i did have a few moments of disagreement with the design.
given its increased size in comparison to an Intrepid, i don't find a personal aversion the addition of saucer seperation (i'm with Cmdr Cockings in disregarding the Multi-Vector reference) for the purpose of expanding sensor search and exploratory cruising. it seem like a practical idea to me. what it does not seem... is possible, as it appears to lack any warp capability in the saucer/chevron section and absence of impulse propulsion in the secondary hull. that aside, the nacelle design, though borrowed but respectfully acknowledged, felt like they are just smidge too large in ratio to the rest of the ship until it was let known how many nacelles were actually present therein; good thinking, sir. let me add in a Thank You for not including any articulation of the nacelles. i've always viewed that as a poor design idea if *just* for the same reason mentioned in this episode... what if it's damaged in some way? what if the starboard assembly falls out of sync with the port side or one simply locks up completely. i appreciate you applying common sense to that issue.
a compliment of large size shuttlecraft would require fairly spacious maintenance compartment; the size (primarily concerning the height) of the compartment shown directly below the primary flight deck (i expect is intended for shuttle storage) would not suffice in facilitating extensive repairs of dorsal or ventral components of either the Delta or Danube. using the primary flight deck for such a thing would be prohibitive as it would counter maintaining a open and therefore usable flightline. this doesn't seem to be a concern many designers have addressed or perhaps even thought to consider.
the registry placement didn't even raise an eye with me. if you feel the need to adjust its location to something more centered down the keelline to appeal the Captain Foley's sensibility, i wouldn't be opposed.
all in all, i enjoyed this episode and interview. for all the things i contest with this design, they are outnumbered by those i appreciate.

Regarding the lack of warp coils for the saucer. I couldn't figure how I wanted to visualize the separated sections so they were left blank.

Nah, their just hard to see... NP
It looks suspiciously like the Emissary or Nomad class Starcruisers from STO.

HEY TREKYARDS,YOU GUYS NEED TO DESIGN YOUR OWN STARSHIP,WITH ALL THAT YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT STARFLEET TECHNOLOGY I BET YOU COULD COME UP WITH SOMETHING AWESOME.
HANK ROBERTS stuart did! The foley class!
I DO TOO! WHY ARE WE SCREAMING?!
LOUD NOISES!!!
increased text size to facilitate those who are Hard of Reading.
we dont do much text stuff in these episodes as we read out the script :)
She personally reminds me of the smaller sister of the Monsoon-class from the top. (Fan-design)
4:56 How did you envision the quantum-slipstream to work?
Junkball media released a good video on borg sphere!!!!
I like it better inverted.
This ship should be on Star Trek online
there's really not a better place for the registry, than on the sides
The ships a real Beauty fantastic I would like to see a series about going back to the Delta quadrant the movie 10 years after what you got back 20 years maybe Tom Paris as Captain Maybe Harry came as a captain of another ship maybe seven of nine captain of another one for Torres
3 Ventures in post-Dominion war Trek, alone in the Delta quadrant....already a better show than Discovery....
400 meters? then why does it look like it has 5 decks?
edit: holy shit the scaling looks so wrong next to the sovereign
Nice
I’ve never liked the USS ‘ship name’. Prefer just ‘Ship Name’ .. Shouldn’t be USS anyway .. U.F.P. or even better U.F.S. (United Federation Starfleet)
I'm Rusty , Rusty Venture , Boy ......
Are those your engines or are you just happy to see me
God Optimus prime like looking at space ship very good it very god prime!
Shes a beauty!
Eh. It just looks so plain compared to other fanmade gems like the USS Titan (Luna class).
I think it looks perfectly in keeping with something like the Rhode Island.
To be fair, it is a low res model and textures.
Do the geneva class from sto
Eh...Warp engines are garbage and it looks like a dozen other Starfleet ships.
