I can see the drag race thing. Took my Kawi H2B to baylands in Fremont, CA way back when. However, I've always road raced motorcycles on a club level. I'm somewhat disappointed the 170 wasn't a multi roll vehicle to both participate in both the drag strip and closed course track racing. Although I don't track my 13 SRT8 Core, knowing I hit 153 MPH in a 2 mile stint beats a 170 is really stupid. That's just my opinion. If I had the bucks (and if possible) I'd revamp the thing into a road course car. Just a thought.
It was governed to 168 mph, but the limited is removed when the ECU/PCM that comes with the car in the Demon crate gets installed. When the limiter is removed, the car can reach speeds up to 211 mph
I think if they made it so the governor could be switched off, and put into a top speed mode, it would have another selling point! And how popular would that be? I think they would sell more of them, if that option was in there. How much would it add to the price? That's the question. And really, if that engine was engineered for top speed, I really wonder what it would do?
Why didn't they give a Crate, with a different ECU and Tires. It seems the Original Demon is a better car with the Crate Option. I think i rather have that. It ran over 200mph at the Texas Mile. And the Crate is Cool...
Say a person wanted to take a Demon 170 to Bonneville. One you would need to get speed rated tires meant to run on the flats. From what I understand they are almost unatainable. Then you'd have to change the rear end gearing if you really wanted to push it past 200. Then remove any limiter or at least adjust it to allow it to run at its maximum potential. Then you'd have to change probably the majority of the suspension system since its factory set up to drag race. I imagine someone with deep pockets will go for it. Be neat to see someone chase all the landspeed records Bobby Isaac set with his 1969 Dodge Daytona. Believe some of them are still standing today.
Excursion and brief are used redundantly. Makes sense to me though. V rated tires are good for a constant 149, but they should safely handle higher speeds in short bursts. Drag radials really killed the speed from the factory huh? 😂
Well no roll racing I guess. Weird though, what’s your tach show going through the trap and what’s your redline ? If you mod it more you will definitely exceed the limiter it would seem.
That car doesn't have the aero for maintaining 200 miles an hour.. It's for going up to that and then slowing down. But some of these dealer's are shameless. Yes unfortunately.. I think it’s toast
Get your car unlocked HP tuners is developing one for the 170s but it has ability to remove top speed change tire sizes and get free hp
I think if they made it so the governor could be switched off, and put into a top speed mode, it would have another selling point! And how popular would that be? I think they would sell more of them, if that option was in there. How much would it add to the price? That's the question. And really, if that engine was engineered for top speed, I really wonder what it would do?
A family friend bought one of these monsters. As Deadpool would say, "I should've worn the brown pants!"
I made it from one side of the Gaming floor to the other !!! I picked up thing's in between they just wanted; more, more, more, . 🤔
I would’ve loved to see a new Daytona version optimized for top end speed
Really strange that my 18 Demon has a 200 MPH speedometer and the 23 on order has a 220 MPH speedometer, I don't get it!
Just needs some 200mph capable street tires, and some highway gears and RacerX can see just how fast it will go in a standing mile
It would only go as fast as the wind resistance would let it with whatever gear or Tire it had unless you increase boost for more horsepower
I’m not surprised that Dodge wont unleash the top speed in this car. I absolutely love your car dude. Awesome Awesome…
I thought it was strange when I heard 215mph as my super stock is limited to 167mph due to the drag radials
All that matters is speed in the quarter
It's made to be a drag car 1/4 mile period, not made to see the top speed safely, it's a protection issue.
how many will ever see the 1/4 mile
What if you take a redeye and just put a 170 engine in it and do all the right modifications to handle all that power
So when you do a burnout,is the burnout at 149?
Great video RacerX!😁👍
I wonder how fast will my Scat Pack would go?🤔
Excursion and brief are used redundantly.
For that kind of money, like 150K I would pick the GT500 Z06 really.. It's great to have that straight line power but handling has always been just as important to me.. For that kind of money I would want to be able to go on a track and take turns.. It's still amazing and Bad ass though...
3.09 rear axle no overdrive. Its screaming upstairs
I'm sure they wanted to make it faster, but they didn't because of those issues with blowing up engines they were having, delaying the release
So your telling me the 2007 my 2007 SRT 8 wich didn't come with a govener an it hit 173 mph
So basically it gonna go as fast as the tires will let it
Thank you X-Man
It's a built drag race car from the factory, was not meant to set a speed record at Daytona speedway.
Put a set of red-eye tires on it and go for it and find out.
It will still be limited to 149 in the tune
@@RacerX9tha same was said about the last demon. Limited to 168, but after some time people took it to 200+. Im sure the same with happen with the 170.
@@johncena-hq1ti
The original 2018 Demon had a speed limiter set to 168 mph, but this was removed when the race ECU/PCM was installed. The car could reach a speed of 212 mph when the limiter was removed
Well we are going to soon find out because it's going to be run in the mile in fact a couple of them are doing it with their tires and also the mile and a half too!
I wonder what if you just take the ecu or the gov chip out
My 300s v6 will only go 141 but it feels like I need 60 more mph
Well I’m glad I went the Redeye route because I’d rather be faster than quicker.
What about the Super Stock? That is my favorite Challenger.
its same as Redeye
Technically, the Charger has always been faster than the Challenger, which makes the Charger Redeye the fastest mass-produced muscle car. Now the Charger Redeye's flat-out top speed hasn't been measured, but I'm positive it's gonna exceed 203 mph.
It only means one thing, the car is not for everyone. Hopefully you didn’t buy the wrong one.
Dodge created a problem for themselves. In the 60s these cars were not available to average consumers. The sportsman knew what he was buying. Now anyone with the money and a signed disclaimer can buy them. And complain.
Racer X, this is not a problem for a seasoned sportsman pro like yourself.🏆
Agreed 👍
Differential Ratio 4.11 Just Change It 3.73 It Will Hit 170 MPH Then 3.23 200 MPH / MIN
So now you know why the car stopped pulling on the dyno at 148mph in 6th gear.
did ur instagram get hacked?
If you took your mustang vs 170 and raced 3/4 mile, at what point would the mustang pass the 170? Your thoughts. 👍👍
As soon as the Demon got limited to 149 mph .. the demon would probably get there first but the Mustang would pass it
It’s a purpose built drag car. Top speed isn’t its priority. Still a cool car. I think the game’s dealership’s have played overshadowed the 170 a bit.
I came to ask the same as a few others. Did your Instagram get hacked? 😢
How briefly? You need over 152 mph to get the time they got and advertised in the 1/4 mile.
.
Based on 1320 passes...+-.
Makes sense the Tire is NOT AT SPEED EXCEEDING tire rating specs over and above a time limited 1/4m PASS...
That Red 👁️ that tested out to 200+ - BETTER SEE WHAT WAS SPECD FOR THAT TEST RUN :TIRES GEARS SUSPENSION ECT .IT MAY BE DIFFRENT FROM YOUR RED 👁️ TUNE.
Bet the Redeye doesn't pop a wheelie
