Makes me feel chilly just watching, but the video came out gorgeous ^^. This song also helped me get through some really rough times in my life. It was my anthem of doing what I needed for me. Also "Girl With The Lions Tail" was part of that cycle of liberation as well. ^^
Hi, gang, it's S. J. Thank u for your compliments! To answer the "where was this filmed" question: we shot the video at Rialto Beach in WA, on the Olympic Peninsula, near La Push, Mora, and Forks. And it was COLD. Even in August. (Note: no werewolves were harmed or even mildly perturbed by the filming of this video. We were very respectful, being on their turf. ;) /end cheap Twilight reference)
S.J. you've got to play Washington sometime, been wanting to see you for a hot second!!! A few years back me and my buddies visited and camped on all those places! good times.
When I was Tommy Jefferson, my father, Peter, who was English, but had been irish, many lives was a skin walker. That is why he was trusted by the Cherokee. It is not my gift, but I am here.
I don't think I've ever seen a video this well directed. The sense of timing is impeccable. Her acting in it is incredible also. The waves actually look like they're dancing to the music.
This song is so heartbreakingly powerful. So many people know what it's like to be in a relationship with someone brilliant, even if it's ultimately damaging for both parties. Your metaphor with emerging from an ocean, clouding your perspective, into fresh air makes the song universal. You amazing me, Sooj!
I usually only listen to classical singers, but SJ Tucker's music is so meaningful to me. It always manages to come deeper than my ears, touching and moving heart and soul. There is so much beauty in her voice, the melodies, it is heavenly indeed. It is the kind of music I just listen to when I can really pay attention to it, because it is worthy of being listened, felt and meditated about.
I will definitely. I'm currently on the hunt for pagan music with equally good videos shot for them. It's for a Samhaine project. This seems to be one of three videos only shot which is a shame because she's the one pagan folkish performer who's work is actually done justice to by the video. She's leading the pack. But the music stands alone for sure.
"Years ago I came to you in love and doomed by what I knew and though I miss the mystery now of life beneath the waves Thin air's as sweet as water when your body begs to breathe and so I leave when I must leave don't weep for love I couldn't save All of us who dare to love are brave!" This, I like :O
Years ago I came to you down beneath your ripples submitting to the mystery of life beneath the waves. Years I floated near you swimming in your subterrain rocking in the opium embrace of Triton's tomb. Time I lost just fussing over every little thing you asked for let myself keep fading silver fishes through my skin. Somewhere I stopped breathing but I missed the kiss of air cut the waves and left you there and ne'er returned again. Someday in my castle keep where rumors fly and questions creep they'll say to me, what of the lord of the deep? I'll say I knew him once but he was asleep. There's no light where you are, my Neptune To the mountains I will fly, away from you Free from the waves into new love's arms back to the realm of the sky. Years ago I came to you in love and doomed to drowning beholden to the mystery of life beneath the waves Years I floated near you I will never see again how I could tarry in the opium embrace of Triton's tomb Time I lost, just fussing over every little thing you asked for let myself keep fading, silver fishes through my skin. Somewhere I stopped breathing but I missed the kiss of air I cut the waves and left you there and ne'er returned again. Someday in my castle keep where rumors fly and questions creep, They'll say to me, what of the lord of the deep? I'll say I knew him once, but he was asleep. There's no light where you are, my Neptune. To the mountains I will fly, out of this gloom, free from the waves into new love's arms, back to the realm of the sky. Years ago I came to you in love and doomed by what I knew and though I miss the mystery now of life beneath the waves Thin air's as sweet as water when your body begs to breathe and so I leave when I must leave don't weep for love I couldn't save All of us who dare to love are brave! There's no light where you are, my Neptune To the mountains I will fly, away from you! Free from the waves into new love's arms back where I belong! There's no light where you are, my Neptune! To the mountains I will fly, out of this gloom, free from the waves into new love's arms, back where I belong! Someday they will ask me (going back where I belong) and I will say Someday they will ask me they will say, what of the lord of the deep? And I will say, I'll say I knew him once but he was asleep. I'll say I knew him once. I'll say I knew him, I knew him, I knew him once...
my take on this song is different. My "lord of the deep" is my birth father, and flying away into new love's arms is me breaking away and learning to love properly. love isn't just between significant others. There was literally no light where he was, he blinded me. I'm still learning to see again through the flat spot on the back of my head. I'm learning to love, unlike back then when I thought I knew love. Just to help people think outside the box a bit.
+Andy Seigler I tend to see the song as a reference to Medusa, who had wings in some of the myths and who fled Poseidon. Shame about your family, though, sounds unpleasant. *Hugs*
Rialto Point, hmmm, reminds me of Ruby beach. Definitely gonna have to check it out next time I'm up near Forks! The beautiful gifts nature gives us! Wonderful song too. Love SJ Tucker's music
Beyond Enchanting! A true natural beauty, BRAVO! Deserves to be SHARED! Thanks to Sooj, Betsy, Kev and all involved! Much LUV from Wicked Wayne of the West, Vancouver BC
Beautiful Brings back some tough times and makes me feel...I guess lighter would be he closest to the emotion. Thank you for this song Mrs. Tucker Blessed Be )o(
First Wendy rule now Sj Tucker!, both my Wiccan/pagan queens!, first thing I heard from this amazing artist was "for the love all who gather", so it was like she was talking to me, I instantly fell in love !!!
We had such a wonderful time last night at your concert in Colorado Springs. Thank you Thank you Thank you.The video is awesome, I can definitely see why you were cold. Look forward to seeing you in August. Blessings and Happy Solstice
Ah, breathtaking. ;-) Our beautiful sister in song. The music is grand... I loved the part where you repeat the line "I knew him once" over and over and then look down as though reminiscing past love or memories and it invokes a kind of feeling of pain and sadness and yet.. utter beauty. You can tell you were feeling it. So much love to you sister, thank you for sharing.
'I knew him once' has been an ear worm for me all week. I couldn't remember a voice a title or a band, just that lyric. Something about water.. a lord.. it was eating at me but I couldn't remember what song I was thinking of. My first instinct was to Google songs about Poseidon.. wrong mythology. Lol. Today I thought to check Heather Dale and your (SJTucker) music, because songs like maiden and the selkie or cheshire kitten are always on my mind! Lol. I am so happy I found this song again. I heard that first note and immediately remembered every single word. Thank you for being my ear worm. This song just hits a note that tickles my soul. If that made any sense at all.
You continue to inspire me. It's not just the imagery you invoke or your voice, it's your example. You remind me that I cannot stop where I am, nor should I. Kudos and applause to your crew on this video as well.
I love this! SJ Tucker is the only singer who doesn't use classical singing techniques and still gained my love :p She is just truly talented. Her music is just magical!
beautiful siong and Beautiful Cinematography of course with s00j and Besty they already had the perfect subjects.. Love it.. Hope I get to see you sometime when you're in the Chicago area..
Another amazing tune from an incredibly talented artist I have had the pleasure of knowing for some time when we used to perform at the same venue in Tennessee. She has come forth with renewed intensity and depth and "Neptune" is a example of that intensity. The video is an excellent vehicle for presenting it. Well done kiddo! Hope to see you again someday.
The pure awesomeness is so powerful. It gets me every time I hear her. I'll never forget the day that I got to hang out with all of you guys. That nights concert (Sept 2009 I think) in the springs was awesome too. Keep it up. you deserve way more views.
I just discovered S.J. Tucker this morning and definitely kind of dig her music. She kind of strikes me as a cross between Tori Amos and Blackmore's Night. Definitely going to check out more of her stuff and see what I think of it all!
Wonderful! I was delighted, and a bit surprised, to see video that very nearly matched the quality of your music and musicianship. Kudos to Kevin, and Brava! to herself.
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS DaMN SONG FOR YEARS, THE LYRICS DON'T SHOW RESULTS ON GOOGLE. THERE WERE LITERALLY ONLY TWO RESULTS AND THEY WERE FROM TUMBLR
At this point, I must be at least 100 of those views. I enjoyed seeing you again in Fredericksberg on the 1st. You are welcome to make a video in my back yard or just to have a concert in the woods. Oh, and I know a violinist that I think would be a great addition to your sound. If you are interested just let me know.
Just watching this again for the first time in ages, remembering how COLD we were out there. :) Completely worth it!
Makes me feel chilly just watching, but the video came out gorgeous ^^. This song also helped me get through some really rough times in my life. It was my anthem of doing what I needed for me. Also "Girl With The Lions Tail" was part of that cycle of liberation as well. ^^
I watch this one every once in awhile. Have it in my favorites. It's a great video!! :-)
I was thinking the same thing. If that is Washington or Oregon it is numbingly cold water!! Fabulous song, though. And a perfect setting.
Definitely one of my favorite songs. Loves Sooj
Love your voice. :)

S. J. Tucker oh my gosh it’s really you!
I love the joke lol. Your music is amazing!!
Thank you for being ALIVE 💓💓💓 S.J.🤩
S.J. you've got to play Washington sometime, been wanting to see you for a hot second!!! A few years back me and my buddies visited and camped on all those places! good times.
When I was Tommy Jefferson, my father, Peter, who was English, but had been irish, many lives was a skin walker. That is why he was trusted by the Cherokee. It is not my gift, but I am here.
Betsy is incredible. I love her dearly. She named her cello Raven. Glad you approve.
I've been meaning to try to get to know her for years. She sounds amazing by all accounts, but I've never gotten the opportunity to just talk.
I don't think I've ever seen a video this well directed. The sense of timing is impeccable. Her acting in it is incredible also. The waves actually look like they're dancing to the music.
Favorite line: All of us who dare to love are brave.
Everytime I hear this song it moves me to tears. As an abuse survivor, it hits all the right (and sensitive) notes for me. It's a powerful feeling.
it was REALLY COLD out there, but so worth it.
I cannot explain how much I love this song..."To the mountains I will fly"
This song is so heartbreakingly powerful. So many people know what it's like to be in a relationship with someone brilliant, even if it's ultimately damaging for both parties. Okay I've been trawling through youtube looking for something magical and this actually made my hair stand on end.
listen to her song witch´s rune, that song is powerful.

for Samhaine, nothing tops SJ Tucker's "Come to the Labyrinth"
you could say any of her songs are magical, probably not the ninja song
This song and video honestly touches my soul. If I ever got the chance to see you live I wouldn't miss it for the world.
tobei47 Never deny that chance. This woman is amazing her music saved my life
Thx for the sweet feedback, everybody.

What does it mean?
I was thinking it was about a man she had loved and put on a pedestal...but he turned out to be toxic and she broke free.
Probably a piscean guy. They tend to be addicts or eternal dreamers. Very romantic but never getting their shit together.
@@aaroncarson1770 lol that is my dad and this is true. good Father though Love the guy..
Anytime I am in a horrible mood, I listen to SJ Tucker. Her music always makes me smile.
She's amazing I could listen to her sing all day. Even more amazing in person. So kind and funny and a true talent. This song is one of my favorites

Last I heard this was several years ago. I am glad I found it once more
I don't think that I've ever seen SJ so beautiful looking. What an awesome video!
This is the kind of music I wish was popular today. Love this song!

Beautiful and moving.
Love seeing/hearing the L&C Carbon Fiber Cello in this awesome song!!
Could be due to my current obsession, but this song makes me think of Haruka and Michiru...
The pure awesomeness is so powerful. It gets me every time I hear her. I'll never forget the day that I got to hang out with all of you guys. That nights concert (Sept 2009 I think) in the springs was awesome too. Keep it up. you deserve way more views.
You know, in the earlier myths Medusa had wings . . .

Wonderful Sooj! I've being waiting and it has been so worth it! I'm still asking the universe to send you around Texas!!!
can't wait to see you guys again at FaerieCon!
I love her voice, her depth. Amazing.
I just discovered S.J. Tucker this morning and definitely kind of dig her music. She kind of strikes me as a cross between Tori Amos and Blackmore's Night. Definitely going to check out more of her stuff and see what I think of it all!
There's some heavy swamp influence in there too. Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana.
I am, as I believe I have mentioned before, terribly fond of this song and this video.
This is such a beautiful song and it makes me so happy to listen to it after school. I LOVE SJ TUCKER :D
blessed be to all reading this
beautiful all the way around and entirely new to me.
That's her song "Playing D&D" - you can click on that video square in the credits to go watch it.
Nice groovin' tune and cool scenery.
so beautiful! and the shots of betsy are epic!
Awesome! Thank you for your work! You are an amazing artist!
Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful!

True love never dies?
(Medusa)
This song is a metaphor for an unattainable man--- about a man the writer was very much in love with.
unbelievably talented
OMG unlike some people shes as pretty as she is good at singing!!! i was expecting someone ALOT older.....
At this point, I must be at least 100 of those views. I enjoyed seeing you again in Fredericksberg on the 1st. You are welcome to make a video in my back yard or just to have a concert in the woods. Thank you for sharing your talent and music with us! The song is beautiful! Does anyone know what guitar she is playing? It's a gorgeous instrument !
